The Chosen One: Hatake SI (Naruto)

Chapter 28-I Alone am the Honoured One!

Chapter 28

Jiraiya watched as Naruto and two of his clones slowly tried to add wind chakra to the Rasengan, and he could not help but marvel at the Boy’s growth over the last year and a half. When he had taken him under his wing, the boy had been an unpolished diamond, but now all that had changed.

Slowly, Jiraiya had put him through his paces. Chakra control. Proper Taijutsu. A respectable ninjutsu arsenal. He had taught the boy all that he would ever need, and with all that and his monstrous chakra reserve, Naruto was no stronger than most jounin in the village.

BOOOM!

Still adding nature transformation to the Rasengan was not an easy task. It was something that even Minato had failed at, though Naruto had gone far beyond what Minato had managed to accomplish in this regard. The boy hit the ground as the Rasengan exploded, but only a few minutes later he was back on his feet to work again.

“That is enough,” Jiraiya cut in as he jumped down from the tree.

“We are done for the day,” Jiraiya added.

“No. I can still go on,” the boy groaned in frustration.

“Come, I have something to show you,” and they were hovering along the Northern border of the village, and he had brought him here for a very specific reason. Naruto followed after him, some trouble.

“Where are you taking me, Pervy Sage?” and he finally reached the place, and this was a narrow path through the forest, entirely unremarkable, and it did not even have a name, but for him and Naruto it held great significance.

“We are here,” he answered with a smile, and Naruto looked around.

“What the hell! There is nothing here,” and now he turned to face the boy once more. Gojo had given him leave to tell the boy this secret, and now, finally, Naruto was both strong and powerful enough to know the secret of his birth.

“You once asked me about your parents, didn’t you?” and now he saw the boy still, as slowly his head turned towards him in anticipation and surprise. Jiraiya took a deep breath as he looked around the place.

“Well, this is the place where your father rescued your mother from Kumo-nin who had kidnapped her...”

JIRAIYA—The Toad Sage

The news had come as a shock to him. Jiraiya had spent the last two years trying to find any trace of his old teammate, yet Orochimaru had hidden himself too well. Despite searching for two years, he had found no trace of the man, yet for some reason he had chosen to reveal himself right now.

It was obviously a trap. Obviously, but they would have to walk into it.

Konoha had recovered from the pain and the damage of the Tragedy that had been thrust upon it some two years ago, but they had not moved past it. Not yet. Not until they had exacted their revenge on the man who had killed their Hokage.

It was a matter of pride, and so they would persist until they had avenged their fallen leader. Jiraiya had been too far from the place where Orochimaru had chosen to reveal himself, but that meant little.

He had been running for a full day now, and would soon reach the place. Even if he was gone, the traces from the place could help him locate the man, or at least that was his home.

“Listen to me, Naruto,” he called out to the blonde boy flying through the forest beside him.

“I want you to stay out of this fight,” he ordered, but Naruto shook his head.

“The bastard killed the old man. There is no way in hell that I am going to stay out of this,” Naruto roared back, and he shared his sentiment. Naruto was close to Hiruzen-sensei, and Orochimaru had killed him.

“I know, but you are not ready to face opponents like Orochimaru yet,” and he had gotten better. Much better.

“Your senjutsu is still a work in progress, and you cannot use the Kyubi’s chakra effectively yet either,” Jiraiya warned.

“In a fight between him and me, you will just be a distraction,” and he could see the boy grind his teeth as he uttered with sheer rage.

“I want to kill that bastard,” Naruto roared angrily as Jiraiya took a massive leap.

“Don’t worry, kid. I want to do the same thing,” and he may have been his teammate once, but that time and bond were gone. Orochimaru was not just a traitor, but he had committed the cardinal sin of killing their sensei.

Both he and Orochimaru were orphans, and the Old Man had been like a father to them, yet the bastard had killed him. He would get no mercy from Jiraiya.

None at all.

He finally reached the location, and yet he was forced to slow down as he spotted something on the ground. He stopped and jumped towards the thing on the ground. He noticed that it was a corpse, or at least he thought it to be.

“Is this a dead body?” Naruto asked as he landed beside him. A dead body had no chakra signature, so he could not sense it, but it did not seem like an ordinary corpse.

It was grey colored, and the head had been cut off. Still, he turned it around, and once he did so, it became quite apparent that this was not a human’s corpse.

“What the hell!” Naruto gagged from the side, and the thing had no blood coming out of its wound. Actually, it had neither any blood nor human genitals. He found a small trace of chakra coming out of it, and found it somewhat familiar.

“Shodaime?” he whispered to himself.

“Pervy Sage,” Naruto called out to him, but he was too busy trying to make sense of what he was seeing and feeling.

“Oi, Percy Sage,” Naruto finally tapped his shoulder, breaking him out of his trance.

“There’s more of them,” he said, pointing forward, and he was right. There were more of such corpses ahead of them, and slowly they moved through the forest, and the piles grew bigger and bigger.

If he was doubtful before, now he was certain that these were not human corpses. Suddenly they reached the end of the tree line, and his eyes widened at the sight in front of him.

There was a massive crater in the ground, deep and large enough to swallow up an entire mountain, yet all of it was filled with corpses. Piles and piles, thousands and thousands of corpses.

“What is this?” Naruto’s face was pale now as he stared at the mountain of corpses when Jiraiya suddenly spotted some movement at the top of the mountain. There was someone sitting there on the top.

“Stay here,” he ordered Naruto as he jumped forward, and as he neared the top, he spotted the person sitting atop this mountain of corpses.

“Hatake,” and it was none other than the Godaime Hokage, Gojo Hatake.

He was sitting there with his legs dangling from a small slab he had placed on top of the pile, while a body lay chained up behind him, along with two wrapped corpses, with sealing tags placed over them.

“You are late,” the Hokage complained as he kicked one of the heads, and Jiraiya took a second to take account of what he was seeing before his eyes landed on the girl chained up behind him.

Her hair was purple, and she wore a black cloak adorned with red clouds, and for a second he could not believe his eyes. That face, and that paper flower.

It couldn’t be.

“Konan,” he gasped, and the girl turned towards him.

“Is that really you, Konan?” He had heard rumors, of course, but now they had just been confirmed. The Akatsuki hunting down the bijuu was the same Akatsuki as the one the trio of Konan, Yahiko, and Nagato had built years ago.

“Yeah, she really is your former student,” the Hokage-sama answered, and now he turned to face him.

“What the hell happened here?” he finally asked.

“Well, Orochimaru revealed himself, so I came to meet him,” he said as if he were talking about going for a stroll, and not facing one of the most dangerous nin alive in the world today.

“So, it was a trap,” he guessed, seeing all the corpses around him.

“Yes, but it was not for me,” and he seemed genuinely saddened by that admission, as he pointed towards Konan.

“It was for her,” and that was strange.

“Or more accurately, your other student, Nagato. But he sent her, and she faced him. It was a good fight, but she couldn’t defeat the Shodaime Hokage and was about to be killed when I chose to step in and save her life,” and Konan was glaring at Gojo Hatake in that moment, and it was only the chains around her body and the seal on her mouth that held her back from attacking or screaming.

“I stepped in, saved her life, and just as I was about to think that I would finally have my revenge, the bastard ran away once more,” and so he was still alive.

“So Orochimaru’s still alive?” he asked, and Gojo Hatake nodded.

“Unfortunately,” he answered back.

“What are these?” Jiraiya asked, pointing towards the mountain of corpses.

“Your old teammate has been rather busy over the last few years. He has used Hashirama-sama’s powers to create these humanoid creatures as a sort of an army. Each of these is nearly as powerful as a chunin,” and Jiraiya blinked at that statement.

“Chunin?” he confirmed again.

“Yeah, though some were a bit stronger than others. Not that it mattered to me,” and he looked around the pile once more, as the realization settled onto him.

“So, you killed all of them?” he asked again, just to confirm.

“Yes,” he answered as if he was not speaking of facing some ten to fifteen thousand chunins all by himself.

“Say what you will of the bastard, but he sure has a sharp mind,” Gojo Hatake added.

“I was able to seal up Nidaime and Sandaime-sama, but he was able to escape with the reanimated form of the Shaodaime,” and Jiraiya had stopped trying to make sense of it.

“Even within the Hokage, Hashirama-sama is in a class of his own,” and that was genuine praise, and he was perhaps the only Kage whose power came closest to that of the young man sitting in front of him.

To defeat fifteen thousand chunin, and subdue the Nidaime and the Sandaime. It was a feat only he could perform.

“What are you going to do with her?” he pointed towards Konan.

“I am not going to kill her, if that is what you are worried about,” he clarified easily.

“I plan on taking her back to the village,” Jiraiya said, looking at him now.

“You do know what that means?” For such an act would definitely force Pain to move,  and the Godaime Hokage shrugged.

“I do,” he answered, jumping onto the platform.

“And I am ready for it.” Just then, Naruto came and joined them as well.

“Hokage-sensei,” Naruto greeted him.

“What are you doing here?” Naruto asked.

“Nothing much,” Gojo Hatake answered.

“Did you do all this?” Naruto questioned, and Gojo Hatake nodded.

“Yes,” and then he brought his hands together and wrapped his fingers around his other hand.

“I will be leaving now,” he added nonchalantly as a sealing formula surrounded him.

“You should bring her back with you. It will give you time to catch up,” and with that he was gone, as Jiraiya found himself alone with two corpses and a former student.

Miles away, Kabuto knelt in front of his master once more, much to Orochimaru’s surprise.

“He spared you?” the Snake Sanin questioned, and Kabuto nodded.

“Yes, he said that I shall live to tell the tale of this battle. To relay to all his enemies, including you,” and now Kabuto looked into those golden eyes of his master as he relayed Hatake Gojo’s message.

“You cannot defeat me. No one can, for under the Heavens and the Earth he alone is the...”
