The Chronicle of the Last Bloom follows Eremos, a "rounding error" of the universe—originally a voiceless Void Plant kept alive by the faceless systems of reality out of a logic resembling pity. After eons of stillness, he has taken human form to navigate the Between, a vast continent where billions of souls wake as faceless silhouettes, cursed to never touch, taste, or feel unless they can earn a rare and near-impossible World Fragment.
In the Between, sensation is the only true currency, and every moment of warmth is a hard-won victory against the void. This is a lyrical, existentially profound journey about found family, the slow healing of ancient wounds, and the love that makes life bloom even at the very edge of Nothingness.
Publication Status & Reader Expectations
Current Status: Ten chapters of Volume 1 are currently published. Volume 1 consists of 19 chapters total. The remaining chapters will be released in approximately 30 days.
What to Expect in Volume 1: The first ten chapters serve as an essential introduction to the world and its unique mechanics. They establish the foundation of The Between, the nature of souls, and the core relationships of the household.
In the remaining chapters of Volume 1, you will be introduced to new characters and several Interludes. These Interludes are integral to the story but sit outside the direct linear timeline; they are designed to provide a deeper, more profound understanding of the characters' histories and the cosmic laws of the universe.
Volume 2 and Beyond: While Volume 1 focuses on world-building and character introductions, Volume 2 is where the established conflicts and "problems" introduced so far will begin to be resolved. This resolution will continue gradually through subsequent volumes.
A Warning on Pacing: This is a slow-paced story. If you are looking for constant, high-octane action or a fast-moving plot, this is not the novel for you. This book prioritizes depth of feeling, existential exploration, and the intricate process of building a "found family" in a world of silence.
If you enjoy a narrative that asks you to settle in, learn the laws of a new world, and slowly inhabit the lives of the characters, you will find a home here. If not, I suggest you do not even bother with Chapter 1.
Author’s Note: To be entirely sincere: I wrote this story primarily for myself. I am sharing it here because I wanted to see if there are other people with similar tastes who might enjoy this journey as much as I do. If it happens to become popular, I will be proud, but that is not the goal. This is a personal project, shared with total honesty.
Thank you for reading, should you choose to stay.
