Moon Ji-a wondered if she was dreaming. She had been talking with a reporter she knew when a knife-wielding assailant suddenly lunged at her, and just before the assailant could slash her with the blade, someone spun around and slammed him to the ground with a shoulder throw.

All of this had happened within a few dozen seconds, or maybe just a few.

The kind of thing no one would believe without seeing it for themselves.

But it was real, and above all, what stunned Moon Ji-a was the identity of the man who had hurled the assailant to the ground.

"Huh? G-General Manager Kim Ha-jae?"

General Manager Kim Ha-jae. In other words, Kang Jae-ha wearing his A-face. Still gripping the assailant's wrist, Jae-ha gave Moon Ji-a a quick, expressionless once-over.

'Face, body. She looks fine. Somehow I made it in time.'

Kang Jae-ha calmly asked the half-dazed Moon Ji-a.

"Are you all right?"

"......Huh?"

"I asked if you're all right."

"Ah, um?"

The malfunctioning Moon Ji-a wasn't recovering easily. It wasn't strange. With something like that unfolding right in front of her, snapping back to normal instantly would have made her a monster in its own right. Anyone who wasn't Kang Jae-ha or one of his subordinates would look exactly the way Moon Ji-a did now. That was normal.

"Let's call it all right, then."

Answering roughly, Kang Jae-ha lowered his gaze. The assailant, thrown out of nowhere, was writhing and groaning.

"Ngghhh......"

The knife he had been holding lay just within reach. Jae-ha nudged the knife lightly away with his foot, then.

-Swish.

He wrenched the assailant's arm up behind his back. It was a restraint in case the man went berserk. Feeling the searing pain again, the assailant let out a bizarre shriek.

"Aaaaargh!!! Aaargh!! Fuck!! Stop! Stop!!!"

Looking down at him with emotionless eyes, Kang Jae-ha asked the still-frozen Moon Ji-a again.

"Someone you recognize?"

"......"

Moon Ji-a looked at the masked Kang Jae-ha, then lowered her gaze to the assailant's face. Her pupils widened for a moment.

"Ah."

The assailant's face was familiar to her. He was the Sasaeng Fan who had tormented her in the past. Back then, Moon Ji-a had shown him leniency after he groveled and begged.

"He is......someone I recognize, yes."

Just then, when the assailant restrained by Kang Jae-ha showed signs of squirming, Jae-ha applied more force. The assailant thrashed twice as hard. No, the Sasaeng Fan did.

"Aaaargh!!!! Let go!! Fuck! Let go, I said!!!"

But the Sasaeng Fan couldn't budge. Partly because Kang Jae-ha was pinning him from above, and partly because the wrist he'd bent felt like it would actually snap with the slightest movement. This was, after all, the technique of a Mercenary Corps Commander who had torn through battlefields for over a decade. Could a mere Sasaeng Fan break free of it? Absolutely impossible.

Soon Jae-ha leaned close to the Sasaeng Fan's ear and whispered coldly.

"Don't act up. Stay still, or your arm breaks. And be grateful it's your wrist that got bent and not your neck."

"!!!"

It was a stern warning to the fucker who'd made trouble for him. And, well, it was also a way to vent his irritation a little. Around this time, the malfunctioning Moon Ji-a's manager and team members came rushing over.

"Ji-a!! Are you okay?!!"

"Unnie!!"

The reporters nearby likewise worried over Moon Ji-a. Of course, those a fair distance away were busy taking in the current scene, Moon Ji-a and all, and snapping it with their cameras.

-Pabababak!

Amid the barrage of blinding flashes, the onlookers with phones in hand were busy too.

"Whoa?! What just happened??"

"That was insane!!"

"Is Moon Ji-a okay?? If it hadn't been for that guy just now, this could've turned into something serious for real??!"

"Man, damn, I thought I was watching a movie."

"Who is that?? That guy??"

"No idea, her manager maybe??"

The onlookers kept chattering as they filmed or photographed Moon Ji-a on their phones. Little by little, the makeshift red carpet atmosphere devolved into utter chaos, and Moon Ji-a, surrounded by her manager and team members, slowly came back to her senses.

'I, just now, almost died???'

She lowered her eyes and looked at the knife lying over there. As the moment when that blade had nearly cut her flashed through her mind again.

"......"

A chill ran through her, and goosebumps rose all over her body. Her legs gave out. Her manager hurriedly caught her as she swayed.

"Ji-a!!!"

Soon event staff and burly guards came running toward Kang Jae-ha, who was restraining the Sasaeng Fan. Before long, the Sasaeng Fan was held down by several strong men, unable to move an inch, and only after handing the Sasaeng over to them did Kang Jae-ha exhale softly and rise.

Flashes poured down on Kang Jae-ha.

-Pabababak!

Clicking his tongue briefly, Jae-ha didn't pay it much mind. His face was swapped out behind the mask, after all. Still, there was no need to linger. That Jae-ha turned his head toward Moon Ji-a.

She was staring at Kang Jae-ha, propped up by her manager and team members.

"......G-General Manager Kim Ha-jae, how did you get here."

She couldn't understand why General Manager Kim Ha-jae, with whom she'd formed only a light connection through 'Condensation: Euphoria', was here. Kang Jae-ha, on the other hand, kept up his dry, matter-of-fact air.

"I came on business."

"Sorry?"

"I stopped by for a moment, and it just happened."

He'd come to take care of some business and ended up saving her? Seriously? Moon Ji-a couldn't believe it. That the man with those cold eyes was the one who had saved her, that is. The impression the face-swapped Jae-ha had left on Moon Ji-a was intense, sure, but not exactly good. A guy who seemed competent but had no manners, more or less?

Honestly, a man she hadn't given much thought to at all had shown up out of the blue and reduced the Sasaeng Fan to pulp. Just like in a movie.

Hard to believe, but facing reality, Moon Ji-a lowered her head to Kang Jae-ha with her body still trembling.

"Thank you. Truly."

Kang Jae-ha nodded plainly and murmured.

"As long as you're all right."

After that.

Roughly ten minutes later, the police arrived on the scene. The Sasaeng Fan was handed straight over to them, and the red carpet and event in progress were temporarily halted. As a result, the reporters and the countless onlookers dispersed.

Kang Jae-ha meant to slip away quietly, but he couldn't.

He had to give the police at least a rough explanation of what had happened.

Watching this scene from a fair distance, his eyes narrowed, was Lee Chan-hoo.

'The Commander really......never has a quiet day. Well, that's Commander-like, I suppose.'

His gaze held awe mixed with worry.

Then, while giving the police a rough account, Kang Jae-ha retraced everything up to the moment he'd thrown the Sasaeng Fan down.

'When I first got here, it looked hopeless.'

His arrival time had been cutting it close, too. It had been nearly eight o'clock, and there were far too many reporters and onlookers packed in. Finding the Sasaeng Fan among them was no different from searching for a needle in a haystack.

What had made the difference here was.

'If I hadn't gotten the 'ability' Sensing right before this, it would've been rough.'

It was the 'ability' Sensing he'd received from the woman's voice as an 'Additional Perk'. Thanks to Sensing, he'd been able to pinpoint the Sasaeng Fan close to Moon Ji-a, and just before the Sasaeng Fan carried out his attack, Kang Jae-ha, moving without a single second of hesitation, had been able to subdue him.

Moon Ji-a's life had hung on those few short seconds.

'Anyway, close as it was, it got handled, and that's what matters.'

Finishing his conversation with the police, Kang Jae-ha let out a short breath. Relief was mixed into it. Soon Jae-ha spotted Lee Chan-hoo standing over there waving his hand, and as the Commander approached him, Lee Chan-hoo smiled faintly.

"Commander, you could pass for a movie star."

"Shut it."

"It got resolved fine, right?"

"Yeah. Your 'Search' was a big help."

Feeling pleased for no particular reason, Lee Chan-hoo puffed his chest out proudly.

"Aren't I the most useful Figurehead CEO at 'MEG'?"

"Sure, sure."

At this moment.

-Bzzz, bzzzzz.

Kang Jae-ha's phone let out a long vibration in his pocket. Checking it, the caller displayed was.

"Who is it?"

"Moon Ji-a."

The Top Actress Moon Ji-a whom Kang Jae-ha had saved.

A little while later. The waiting room at the venue.

Maybe because she hadn't been hurt, or for whatever reason, Moon Ji-a hadn't gone straight to the hospital and was sitting in the waiting room. Of course, her face was still a mix of tension and fear. Around her, the manager and team members were busy fretting over her.

"Unnie......are you really okay??"

"Ji-a, let's just go straight to the hospital. You might seem fine now, but something could come up later."

"Right! Even with minor accidents, you seem fine at first but it becomes a problem later, doesn't it?? Unnie, let's go to the hospital, okay??"

The manager stepped up to Moon Ji-a.

"I'm worried about the mental side too, not just your body. I'll book a psychiatrist as well, so let's cancel all of today's schedule."

Having quietly listened to her team members' worries, Moon Ji-a let out a faint sigh.

"Okay, oppa. Book the psychiatrist. And I'm fine, thanks, everyone."

The manager fumed.

"That crazy Sasaeng bastard, don't you dare show him leniency this time. Let's make him eat Prison Food!"

"Yeah. I've got no intention of letting him off either. Make it crystal clear to the police."

"Got it!!"

Having answered forcefully, the manager's face abruptly shifted to an awkward one.

"B-but, Ji-a. The ad shoot two days from now, it's a little...hard to cancel. Everything's already been locked into place. Plus it's an ad CEO-nim lined up, so..."

Letting out a hollow, exasperated laugh, Moon Ji-a answered.

"I know, the Breach Penalty and all that would be a headache too."

"......I'm sorry."

"Forget it, I just need a couple days' rest. It's not like I've got a scratch on me, so I can manage an ad shoot at least. Go ahead with that, and push back the rest of the minor stuff if you can."

"Got it, I'll check on it right away."

Pulling out his phone, the manager stepped out of the waiting room, and Moon Ji-a, watching him go, gently spread both hands open. Her fingertips trembled. The fear still lingered in her body.

At this moment.

-Knock knock.

A knock sounded through the waiting room, and a well-built guard poked his face in.

"Moon Ji-a ssi, someone's here to see you. You did reach out to them, right?"

Her eyes slightly widened, Moon Ji-a nodded.

"Yes, that's right."

The guard nodded and closed the door, and a few seconds later, the man with the cold eyes stepped into the waiting room. It was the masked Kang Jae-ha. At the same time, Moon Ji-a made a request of her team members.

"Sorry, let me talk with him one-on-one."

"Ah! Sure!"

Soon only Kang Jae-ha and Moon Ji-a remained in the waiting room. Jae-ha glanced around the waiting room, then.

-Plop.

He sat down on a nearby sofa. At the sight, Moon Ji-a let out a small laugh.

'Even at a rough glance, you can tell he's My-Way-No-Matter-What. Oh, you can tell all right.'

Moon Ji-a spoke to Jae-ha from where she sat.

"I suppose I should say it once more. Thank you, General Manager Kim Ha-jae."

Meeting her eyes, Jae-ha answered as if it were nothing.

"You already thanked me earlier, so that's enough."

"No, still, it's not like that. You saved my acting career, maybe even my life."

"That's true enough."

Moon Ji-a laughed once again.

"Are you always this straightforward, no backing down from anything?"

"Usually. No time to back up, and no need for it."

"......I thought you were unusual when I first saw you, but you really are an oddball, General Manager."

"I hear that often, yeah."

With a smile on her lips, Moon Ji-a rose slightly and sat on the sofa across from Kang Jae-ha. She turned suddenly serious.

"I won't ask about the how or the process of it. What matters is that if it hadn't been for you, I'd have really......phew, anyway, this isn't something I can just let slide. Honestly, I don't have a clue how I should repay it, but I'll think it over for a while and give you whatever I can give."

"Go ahead. I won't say I'll refuse it."

"Right. And apart from that, if there's anything you want, please tell me."

At this point, Moon Ji-a made a guess.

'If there's something he wants, it's most likely money. It's the most straightforward option, and there's no one who doesn't like money. He's the person who saved me, so whatever amount he wants, I have to give it.'

That Kang Jae-ha would want money.

It wasn't a cynical thought; she truly meant it. And she was thinking of an amount in the hundreds of millions. Even if he asked for it as an apartment or an outrageously expensive car, she was willing to hand it over gladly.

"If it's money, tell me the amount without any hesitation. Really, no hesitation."

But Kang Jae-ha's answer wasn't money.

"All right. Then I'll freely tell you what I want. Money's not necessary; I've got plenty of it myself."

"...Sorry?"

"More to the point, Moon Ji-a ssi, I hear your Exclusive Contract is right about to expire and you've come onto the FA market?"

"Ah."

The masked Jae-ha stated what he wanted. To Moon Ji-a, it was quite unexpected.

"Come over to our 'MEG'."
