"Boss, this is a golden opportunity. The black market over there is empty, and his men aren’t with him anymore. Plus, he came here all by himself. If something were to happen to him, he’d only have himself to blame."

One of his men stepped forward and muttered.

Before Old Nine could say anything, Lu Yuanbin had already sauntered in, his hands in his pockets and a devil-may-care look on his face.

Lu Yuanbin rolled his eyes and scoffed, his tone dripping with disdain.

"I could quit the black market entirely and I still wouldn’t sink to being your lackey."

"You can keep that position for yourself! I couldn’t possibly take your job. After all, it’s a perfect fit for you. Aren’t you An Dongyang’s lackey, anyway? You love running errands. You’re a natural at it."

When it came to a war of words, Lu Yuanbin had never backed down from anyone.

And just like that, Old Nine, who had been hoping to see Lu Yuanbin get flustered, found himself getting worked up first. He didn’t explode, though. Instead, he suppressed his anger and spoke in a low, heavy voice.

The devil-may-care expression vanished from Lu Yuanbin’s face. The smile in his eyes had long since turned to ice. He could take a few insults himself, but if anyone dared to disrespect his deceased parents, Lu Yuanbin would not let it slide.

He lunged at Old Nine and sent him flying with a single kick.

Old Nine stumbled backward. Luckily, one of his men caught him, saving him from an embarrassing fall.

The girl behind him, however, wasn’t so lucky and was knocked aside by the impact.

The girl’s palms and knees stung sharply, but she paid them no mind. She scrambled to her feet, intent on leaving.

But one of Old Nine’s men grabbed her.

"You dare run? You fucking bitch! Mr. Jiu hasn’t said you can leave, so how dare you run!"

With that, he raised his hand to slap the girl.

Seeing this, Lu Yuanbin seized the man’s arm. With his other hand, he pulled the girl out of the man’s grasp and into his own arms, landing a vicious kick on him for good measure.

The kick landed on the man’s thigh. He lost his balance and fell flat on his face, eating dirt.

Lu Yuanbin shielded the girl as he moved away, then let her go.

The girl, however, froze for a moment. She stared at Lu Yuanbin’s face for a few seconds before ducking to the side.

This time, Old Nine was completely enraged.

This little punk had attacked him *and* his man on his own turf. It was utter disrespect.

Meanwhile, at the commotion, everyone else in the black market was scrambling to pack up and flee.

The underling who had scrambled up from the ground spat out a mouthful of blood, a front tooth mixed in with it.

The underling was instantly furious.

He turned to Old Nine and said viciously, "Mr. Jiu, this is a perfect opportunity. Why don’t we take it and..."
