The Demon with Holy Radiance

Chapter 647 363: More Than Just One

On the battlefield, the members of the Golden Thread Pavilion were more bloodthirsty and aggressive. Despite a lack of coordination, their attack pace was swift. Though outnumbered two to one by Great Virtue Temple, they fought their enemy to a stalemate.

In contrast, the Monks of Great Virtue Temple focused more on coordination, using an Array formation in battle to counter the Golden Thread Pavilion's assault.

For a time, giant figures clashed, ferocious Demon Gods raged, and a bloody aura filled the sky.

The cultivation methods of this world's Cultivators were bizarre to begin with, and with many Zombie Gods present—all wielding the Power of Rules from Forbidden Artifact Fragments—the battle between the two sides was exceptionally sinister.

A giant resembling both an Arhat and a Demon Fiend leaped high into the air. With thunderous palm strikes, it hammered down again and again, forcing several Golden Thread Pavilion Cultivators of the same rank into a steady retreat.

Meanwhile, one of the Golden Thread Pavilion Cultivators spread his hands, which opened into giant maws, and spewed forth a torrent of filth. The constant stream of toxins kept the Great Virtue Temple Monks at bay.

Fierce as the fighting was, casualties on both sides were almost negligible. Aside from those with weaker Cultivation Levels whose serious injuries healed slowly, the Zombie Gods could recover from even the gravest wounds in moments.

They fought for over a quarter of an hour, but no victor emerged.

If this kept up, the battle would never end, and there was no telling when a more powerful foe from Great Virtue Temple might arrive.

Yang An watched for a bit longer before losing interest.

Cultivators possessed Immortality, which meant that fights between peers were destined to be long and tedious, with no clear winner, unless one side possessed an overwhelming advantage.

'I shouldn't waste any more time here.'

The Cultivators fighting Great Virtue Temple suddenly felt an aura flash past them from behind. Immediately after, countless blood-red rays of light rained down from the sky like a meteor shower.

SWISH SWISH SWISH SWISH—

Before anyone could see what was happening, the blood-red lights landed with perfect precision on those bald-asses from the temple. Not a single Cultivator from the Golden Thread Pavilion was touched.

The next second, the Great Virtue Temple bald-asses froze in place, unable to move. Even their attacking stances were halted, as if they had been flash-frozen in time.

While the Golden Thread Pavilion Cultivators stared in suspicion, the bald-asses silently crumbled into clouds of ash, one after another.

The enemy had been dispatched with such ease. Before the Cultivators present could even process what happened, a voice called out from behind them:

"Keep advancing."

Hearing Yang An's voice, everyone instantly understood. They glanced back at his figure before quickly looking away, a pang of dread rising in each of their hearts.

Along the path of their advance, they quickly encountered several more waves of enemies. Yang An let his men handle those they could, but whenever a fight dragged on for too long, he would step in to finish it. Before long, they had smoothly approached their destination: Dragonfly Bamboo Peak.

The mission assigned by Wen Zhao was for their front to capture Dragonfly Bamboo Peak by nightfall. Yet it was only noon, and their progress was so smooth it surprised everyone.

"Up the mountain!"

Yang An gave the order, clear and concise. Any obstacles on the mountain could simply be eliminated; it would pose no trouble for him at all.

But they had now entered a region where Great Virtue Temple's Insect Dao practitioners were active, and the Golden Thread Pavilion Cultivators were more than a little fearful. Nevertheless, they had to obey Yang An's command.

The group ascended Dragonfly Bamboo Peak quickly and, as expected, encountered more members of Great Virtue Temple. There were many of them this time, several times more than before.

The terrain was easy to defend but difficult to attack. With their numbers, it would have been nearly impossible to capture the peak.

Fortunately, Yang An ultimately took matters into his own hands. Without much effort, he eliminated the Great Virtue Temple forces, and his men successfully took control of Dragonfly Bamboo Peak, completing their mission.

But just as everyone was celebrating the capture of Dragonfly Bamboo Peak, they saw their leader, Yang An, slowly don a mask. The mask was engraved with the head of a crane, which had a halo above it.

While the bewildered Cultivators were still trying to understand, a powerful aura suddenly descended upon them. The color drained from their faces.

'Insect Dao! Someone from Great Virtue Temple's Insect Dao is here!'

The arrival of this aura immediately drew everyone's attention.

A tall figure descended from the sky, standing atop a Human Head Lotus Platform.

Dozens of dried human heads, each with a different expression, formed the grotesque Lotus Platform. The newcomer standing upon it was nearly three meters tall, powerfully built, and wore a Kasaya. His face was a mask of ferocity.

"Amitabha. Today, this Bodhisattva vows that none of you will leave this place alive."

Merely feeling this aura was enough to make the Golden Thread Pavilion Cultivators tremble in fear. They scattered and fled in every direction, completely forgetting the deal Yang An had made with them.

Even though they had seen Yang An instantly kill his Great Virtue Temple opponents time and again, they were now facing an Insect Dao master. Only a fool wouldn't run.

In a battle between two such powerful experts, even the aftershocks could be fatal to them.

Yang An was certain he'd never seen this person before; he didn't know which of Great Virtue Temple's Bodhisattvas this was. To be safe, he had put on the mask beforehand, precisely to prevent his identity from being exposed and attracting even more trouble.

All his men had fled, leaving Yang An alone. The newcomer knew that Yang An was the group's leader; he could sense the aura of the Insect Dao from him as well.

"Is this the source of your confidence? You're merely in the Early Stage of the Insect Dao. Today…"
