"Excellent. Just excellent."
A look of delight crossed Yang An’s face, and he immediately had the Bow Lady recite it for him.
The Cultivation Methods of Great Virtue Temple were nothing more than a collection of strange Scripture Mantras. This was typical for Buddhist Cultivators, and their research value was quite high.
From another perspective, the fact that these Buddhist Cultivators could become Bodhisattvas or Buddhas and generate Buddha’s Radiance meant they wielded a type of Forbidden Power, one separate from the Three Spiritual Light. Through the Bow Lady’s recitation, Yang An quickly memorized the Magic Techniques for these Cultivation Methods.
The Cultivation Methods of Qiangui Mountain, however, were quite different, focusing primarily on Gu Techniques.
The woman Yang An had just killed cultivated a Gu Technique called Blood-Crying Gu.
It involved using an insect called the Blood-Crying Insect to gradually drain the user’s own body of blood. As long as the soul remained unharmed, this process would spawn even more Blood-Crying Insects. The technique could then be continuously improved until reaching mastery, at which point the user could unleash the Blood-Crying Insects within their body to attack enemies.
Anything touched by the Blood-Crying Insects would be converted into fresh blood and absorbed. The insects could even convert and absorb a portion of the Power of Rules.
This Gu Technique was uniquely powerful in its own right, but that wasn’t what truly excited Yang An. It was another discovery entirely.
In addition to the primary Gu Technique, the Bow Lady had also extracted several other Gu Techniques from the devoured soul. One of them could briefly release a flash of bloody light by burning the innate blood within the Blood-Crying Insects. Surprisingly, it showed faint signs of being a form of Light Magic.
Once released, the bloody light flashed for only an instant, but it could cause an enemy’s body to temporarily break down, rendering them completely immobile.
However, the cost of this Gu Technique was also steep. Unleashing it would cause a large number of the Blood-Crying Insects within the Caster’s body to collapse and die as well.
The principle behind it seemed similar to how a firefly produces light, which made Yang An’s eyes brighten with inspiration.
He had been studying various Cultivation Methods without a clear breakthrough, so he never expected someone from Qiangui Mountain to deliver such a perfect gift, giving him a brand new direction for his research.
"My thanks to Mother Nature for this gift!"
"What are you talking about?" the Bow Lady asked, confused.
"My thanks to you, Bow Lady! You’re the best!" Yang An exclaimed, already preparing to shift the focus of his research.
"..."
For a Technique like this, which had no written record, it could only be transmitted through the Bow Lady’s verbal account. Yang An’s method was to mentally practice it exactly as she described it. As soon as he mastered the Technique, an information box would automatically appear, allowing him to use Purification on its cost.
Although he hadn’t mastered the foundational Gu Technique of the Qiangui Mountain lineage, the principles behind such Techniques were universal, and this one didn’t require a specific Gu foundation. Besides, since he was already practicing one Cultivation Technique, Yang An couldn’t learn another. He could only analyze and study its methods.
The bonfire crackled, its flames occasionally catching on a stray weed or glowing ember. The other Cultivators kept their distance from Yang An, brazenly enjoying themselves with the figures in the black smoke as if no one else was there.
Yang An’s eyes were shut tight as he mentally attempted to master the Gu Technique, following the method the Bow Lady had described.
Time ticked by, second by second, until a figure suddenly arrived.
The resting Cultivators were startled by the sudden appearance of the powerful aura, immediately going on high alert. But upon seeing the newcomer, their alarm turned to terror, and they scrambled to salute.
"Greetings, Elder."
Wen Zhao landed gracefully, his hands clasped behind his back. His expression was a mixture of simmering anger and amusement. He ignored the other Cultivators, his gaze falling condescendingly upon the meditating Yang An.
Yang An’s eyes remained tightly shut; he seemed completely unaware of Wen Zhao’s arrival.
"Elder Mu, not only have you repeatedly defied my orders, but now you feign ignorance even upon my arrival? Are you trying to show me you have no regard for the rules of the Golden Thread Pavilion?"
