The Demon with Holy Radiance
Chapter 662 - 368: Great Light Floating WorldThe situation looked truly dire.
Seeing this, Yang An understood the Golden Thread Pavilion’s current predicament. With the arrival of Qiangui Mountain’s forces in large numbers, the scales of victory had tipped.
Ultimately, if it were just a one-on-one fight between the Golden Thread Pavilion and the Great Virtue Temple, the Pavilion’s chances of victory would have been high. After all, they had an Immortal Platform, something the Great Virtue Temple lacked.
What Yang An couldn’t understand, however, was why Life Crane hadn’t acted decisively. The old man knew the other Three Domains might ally with the Great Virtue Temple, yet he hadn’t tried to quickly crush the Temple and settle things once and for all. This delay had allowed Qiangui Mountain to join the fray, putting the Golden Thread Pavilion at a severe disadvantage.
’Even if Life Crane’s goal is to prevent the Four Domains from gathering the Command Tokens and entering the Central Continent, he shouldn’t be dragging his feet like this.’
Unable to fathom the old man’s true objective, Yang An decided to just do what he thought was right for now.
He had failed repeatedly in his attempts to cultivate Tide Fire, and he still hadn’t found the reason why.
Perhaps it was due to the lack of a reference sample. Thus, the Qiangui Mountain Cultivators joining the battle suited his purposes perfectly.
The wind howled in the distance. Hordes of Golden Thread Pavilion Cultivators were in full retreat, fleeing in disarray. The Cultivators from Qiangui Mountain pursued them relentlessly, unwilling to let them escape. In contrast, the Great Virtue Temple had the fewest participating Cultivators.
A dense, dark swarm of insects shot into the crowd at incredible speed, enveloping a dozen Zombie God Realm Cultivators and a group of those at the Corpse Transformation stage.
The next moment, these Cultivators began to claw painfully at their own throats, violently ripping their own heads off.
Instead of blood, more insects erupted from their severed necks.
In moments, the Cultivators attacked by the swarm became its food. Their flesh dissolved in the blink of an eye, leaving behind stark white skeletons. They didn’t even have time for their Immortality to take effect before the bones themselves crumbled to dust.
Other fleeing Cultivators were infiltrated by tiny, almost imperceptible Gu Insects. The next moment, they would go berserk and launch indiscriminate attacks on their fellow escapees.
Even in this crazed state, if they were unable to harm a more powerful member of their own sect and were instead subdued, they would choose to self-destruct at the first possible moment.
Countless blossoms of blood burst open in the dark night. Hidden within these gory sprays were even more Gu Insects, which continued to spread to the surrounding Cultivators.
Some of the faster Cultivators had already fled a great distance, almost reaching the edge of the battlefield.
But before they could get any further, they dropped to the ground one by one like toppling scarecrows as their Mana raged uncontrollably within them, stripping them of all ability to resist.
The scene was utter chaos, but the casualties were almost exclusively from the Golden Thread Pavilion. In contrast, only a handful of Cultivators from the Great Virtue Temple and Qiangui Mountain were injured.
Yang An extended his senses, instantly covering more than half the battlefield. Just as Thirty Flow had said, Qiangui Mountain had indeed sent many Insect Dao experts. However, the ones actually fighting at the moment were the Zombie Gods; the Insect Dao Cultivators had yet to make a move.
Even so, the Golden Thread Pavilion’s forces were already on the back foot.
"Elder Mu, wait for us! Let’s attack together. It’s the only way to repel these fiends quickly."
Several Golden Thread Pavilion Elders had caught up from behind. They saw that the situation was even more dire than before. With the battlefield changing in an instant, they couldn’t possibly stand by and just watch Yang An act alone, which is why they made the suggestion.
Even if Yang An possessed the strength to kill Wen Zhao, he couldn’t possibly repel so many Qiangui Mountain Cultivators all by himself.
This was no time to be a spectator; the fate of the Golden Thread Pavilion and their very future were at stake.
From their perspective, the fact that Yang An had arrived on the battlefield ahead of them but had yet to make a move meant he must be hesitating. They figured he was waiting for them to arrive so they could attack together, but was just too proud to say so.
Hearing the words of the men who had just caught up, Yang An rolled his eyes in irritation.
’The only reason I came out of the Golden Wave Pool was because these Qiangui Mountain people showed up. I haven’t made a move yet because I’m busy locking onto the Insect Dao experts in their ranks.’
’Aside from those at the Insect Dao realm, I couldn’t care less about the other Cultivators.’
"Suit yourselves. You can follow if you’re not afraid to die."
Yang An said with a deadpan expression, then his figure vanished from sight in an instant.
"Afraid to die?"
Seeing Yang An disappear, the newly arrived Cultivators exchanged glances, and one of them couldn’t help but sneer.
They were the first group of reinforcements to arrive—all of them Internal Affairs Elders of the Golden Thread Pavilion, and every single one was an Insect Dao Cultivator.
Qiangui Mountain’s forces might be overwhelming the Golden Thread Pavilion’s right now, but in their eyes, it was nothing more than children squabbling.
They wouldn’t be afraid even if the enemy’s Insect Dao experts made a move.
They were all at the Insect Dao realm, experts who had mastered complete Forbidden Artifacts. For one Insect Dao expert to kill another was more difficult than killing hundreds or even thousands of Zombie God Cultivators, unless there was a direct counter relationship between their Powers of Rules.
How could they possibly be afraid to die? Yang An was clearly underestimating them.
"Since Elder Mu looks down on us, we’ll have to show him what we’re capable of."
"Let’s go!"
The group immediately flew off to join the battle. This was no time for petty squabbles; they would deal with the people from Qiangui Mountain first and have a proper ’talk’ with this Elder Mu later.
BOOM—
But just as they arrived above the front lines, before they could even make a move, an unbearably dazzling light erupted in the dark sky. The glare was so intense that even they, as Insect Dao Cultivators, were caught in it, unable to even open their eyes.
