The Demon with Holy Radiance

Chapter 667 - 370: Repaying Kindness with Enmity

A cold wind whooshed by, bringing with it a slight chill.

Yang An was sitting in a completely empty clearing. A moment later, a look of annoyance crossed his face.

He had completely forgotten that this was just a temporary stronghold; the Golden Wave Pond Hall was nowhere near strong enough to withstand the might of the Tide Fire he had unleashed.

Now, he had destroyed the entire Golden Wave Pond Hall.

As for the might of the Tide Fire, it was somewhat underwhelming for now. Yang An could achieve—and even far surpass—this level of power with any of his other Light Magic.

Such power was naturally no match for the Golden Sun’s Power of Rules, but it was a promising start for Yang An.

Just as he had thought, the crimson light that flashed upon activating the Tide Fire was not one of the Three Spiritual Light.

This crimson light was a radiance generated by releasing Life Force, and it lasted for only a fleeting moment.

In principle, it was the ultimate expression of condensed and erupting Life Force, a mutation that transformed its sanguine color into a form of light.

Because it was activated at the cost of Life Force, it possessed the ability to decompose other living things in its surroundings.

Strictly speaking, it was similar to light produced by radiation.

Among all the Light Magic Yang An had mastered, the one most similar to the Tide Fire was likely the white Divine Radiance of the Extreme Day Divine Aspect.

Before Yang An mastered the Extreme Day Divine Aspect, this Technique was actually called the Jade Divine Aspect, and the light it emitted was green.

’Just learning this one Technique isn’t enough,’ Yang An thought. ’I need to master more light-based powers outside of the Three Spiritual Light.’

If he wanted to obtain the Power of Light Rules beyond the Three Spiritual Light, the prerequisite was to have a thorough understanding of those other types of light.

Take the Golden Sun he had obtained, for instance. He had mastered many kinds of Light Magic, a great number of which were related to Sunlight. That was why the Forbidden Artifact, the Golden Sun, had been created through him in the Forbidden Land of Lower Hu.

Other forms of light existed beyond the Three Spiritual Light: the crimson light of the Tide Fire, the lightning of the Sacrificial Dao Yin Thunder, the firelight of the Lighting Technique, the Divine Radiance of the Extreme Day Divine Aspect, and the Buddha’s Radiance from Buddhist Techniques.

It would be incredibly difficult to comprehend the Rules of one of these types of light to their absolute limit by relying on a single Technique.

For instance, of all the Techniques Yang An had mastered, most were related to Sunlight, followed by the Buddha’s Radiance from Buddhist Techniques. His other Techniques, in contrast, each produced only a single type of light.

If he had to choose one type of light through which to comprehend a new Power of Light Rules, the best option would undoubtedly be the Buddha’s Radiance.

However, considering the Golden Sun Daoist had created the Three Spiritual Light, which were purported to be able to save the world, the Buddha’s Radiance likely couldn’t compare.

But Yang An, who subscribed to the philosophy of "I want it all," was naturally unwilling to abandon the others. If possible, the ideal solution would be to fuse all these lights together and give birth to a new one.

His strategy was simple: fuse every type of light outside of the Three Spiritual Light!

If even that failed to produce something comparable to the Three Spiritual Light, he could only resign himself to fate.

The best test subject was still himself—and only himself—because he had mastered so many different kinds of Light Magic.

But the immediate problem was finding a new place for his confinement...

With the Golden Wave Pond Hall gone, the resulting power fluctuations quickly attracted the Cultivators on the Floating Island. A few spiritual senses swept over the area before hastily retreating, and a short while later, a Cultivator hesitantly approached.

"Elder Mu, the Lord Pavilion Master sent me to ask if you are planning to end your seclusion?"

The visitor was an External Affairs Elder, his face a mask of misery. If not for a direct order from the Pavilion Master, who would have willingly accepted an errand to approach this terrifying man? He was rumored to be so volatile he would kill at the slightest disagreement, an existence who could annihilate hundreds, even thousands, of Qiangui Mountain Cultivators with a wave of his hand.

Any discerning person could see that even the Pavilion Master himself was exceedingly courteous and deferential toward him, and the legendary Supreme Elder was said to be extremely partial to this Elder Mu.

Because of this, everyone, without exception, was even more cautious and meticulous when facing Yang An than they were when facing the Pavilion Master, Thirty Flow.

"Absolutely not! We agreed on thirty days of punishment, but it has only been ten. That’s not nearly enough. I cannot forgive my own transgression; I must continue my penance.

Furthermore, I just accidentally destroyed a hall. That is another sin, so I must add another ten days to my sentence.

Now hurry up and find me another place. Go on, quickly."

Yang An said, his face a mask of anger and deep remorse.

Seeing his expression, the visiting External Affairs Elder nearly jumped out of his skin. But when he heard that Yang An only wanted to move to another location to continue his confinement, he breathed an inward sigh of relief. Not daring to utter another word, he immediately left for the Central Hall.

A little over ten breaths later, he flew back. On the Pavilion Master’s orders, he had respectfully found a new "place of punishment" for Yang An, allowing him to quietly serve out the remaining thirty days of his sentence.

Having moved to the new location, Yang An planned to research a new question: how could he fuse his other light-based powers, the ones besides the Three Spiritual Light?

He had mastered so many Light Magic techniques that when he used them together against an enemy, they looked as if they were fused. In reality, it was not a true fusion; the lights were merely layered on top of each other.

A true fusion should be like the mingling of water and fire, where multiple Techniques could merge into a single, brand-new Technique, creating a new variation. Only through such a process could one comprehend a power to its absolute limit and reach the stage of understanding the Power of Rules.
