"Senior Brother Jin’e once said that from the moment of his passing, he would have to endure nine trials, culminating in his ninth Dharma Body, after which he would return to the Land of Goodness. This was to achieve virtuous Zen and joy, to seek the source of the Buddha’s path.

Now that you have returned to your origin, your junior brother, Hai Shu, respectfully welcomes you back to your rightful place!"

Although Hai Shu’s words still carried a trace of respect, he remained seated stiffly on his Lotus Platform, showing no intention of rising to offer a respectful welcome.

His attitude reminded Yang An of the man he’d once seen in the Bow Lady’s Consciousness Realm.

Back then, Hai Shu had bowed and scraped before Jin’e like a young novice. Now, however, he had become a formidable figure in the Great Virtue Temple, a far cry from his former self.

And as his gaze fell upon the Piglet, Liu Feifei couldn’t help but tremble, a chill seeping into her very soul.

The little Piglet burrowed deeper into Yang An’s embrace, trying desperately to hide.

But in the next moment, Hai Shu gave a slight raise of his hand. Rivulets of black energy flowed out from the Lotus Platform beneath him, forming a new platform under the little Piglet that carried it directly before him.

"As the devotee who escorted the Bodhisattva’s Dharma Body, you have performed a meritorious service. However, your Cultivation Level is too weak. Go and gain some experience first, then return. The gates of our Land of Great Virtue and Goodness will always be open to you."

The words were polite enough, but Hai Shu’s tone and posture both betrayed a sense of complete indifference.

’This won’t do!’

’I haven’t been able to make contact with Hai Xin in the Eternal Prison yet. If I get thrown out of the Great Virtue Temple just like this, wouldn’t that be a double loss?’

’This guy’s way of discarding people after they’ve served their purpose is so sanctimonious. Truly worthy of a Bodhisattva from the Great Virtue Temple.’

"Before I escorted the Bodhisattva’s Dharma Body here, I was fortunate to be called upon by the Bodhisattva’s true Spirit. He promised that if I safely returned the Dharma Body to its rightful place, I would be granted a station of Great Virtue. This was the Bodhisattva’s own charge. While I did not ask for this, the Bodhisattva is an Upper Buddha; surely he cannot go back on his word."

"I do not seek a station of attainment, nor do I seek treasured artifacts. I only wish to cultivate within the temple to achieve true enlightenment. I hope the Bodhisattva will grant my request."

Yang An adopted the posture of a proper devotee, expressing both his dissatisfaction and his request.

’This was something Jin’e Bodhisattva himself promised. Both Hai Shu and Hai Si were merely his subordinates once. How could they so brazenly defy Jin’e’s command?’

"How dare you!"

Hearing the dissatisfaction in Yang An’s voice, Hai Si, who was standing to the side, immediately raised a hand to strike. However, Hai Shu casually blocked him.

An idea seemed to have struck him, for a peculiar smile spread across his face.

"Since that’s the case, then I shall personally arrange a place for you to train."

The moment he finished speaking, the entire Ten Thousand Buddha Hall began to tremble violently. The black Lotus Platform beneath Hai Shu remained perfectly steady, but countless cracks started spreading across the hall’s floor. Obscure, malevolent auras gushed madly from the fissures.

Since this young man had a request, Hai Shu would be sure to grant it.
