The Devil Who Claimed Me

Chapter 180: Felix in an accident.

"Felix!"

Celeste rushed into the hospital like a woman possessed, her eyes swollen and red from crying.

The moment she saw Matteo standing outside the operating room, she hurried over and grabbed both his hands.

"What happened?" Her voice broke between sobs. "How did this happen?"

"Mom, please calm down," Matteo said gently, trying to steady her. "Sit down first."

He guided her to a row of chairs and helped her sit.

The moment she lowered herself onto the chair, the tears came pouring out again.

"I spoke to him this afternoon," she sobbed. "He sounded upset, but he promised he’d come home for dinner."

Her shoulders shook violently. "I even asked the housekeeper to prepare all his favorite dishes."

She covered her face with both hands. "I waited for him... I thought he’d walk through the door at any moment. But instead, they called to tell me he had been in an accident."

"Mom..." Matteo knelt in front of her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders. "Please stay strong. The best doctors are treating Felix. He’ll be alright."

Celeste nodded repeatedly, desperately clinging to his reassurance. Yet fear continued to consume her.

’What if something happens to my son?’ The thought squeezed her heart.

Fresh tears streamed uncontrollably down her cheeks.

Just then, the operating room doors opened. The doctor stepped outside.

Celeste remained frozen in her seat. She didn’t even have the strength to stand. Her frightened eyes stayed fixed on the doctor.

"Doctor!" Matteo hurried over and grabbed him by the shoulders. "How is my brother? Tell me he is alright."

The doctor lowered his eyes with a weary sigh. Slowly, he shook his head.

Matteo’s heart dropped. His face turned deathly pale.

"What?" His voice trembled. "Please... say something."

The doctor inhaled deeply. "He suffered multiple fractures throughout his body. The impact also caused severe damage to his spine."

He paused briefly. His expression grew heavier. "I’m afraid he may never walk again."

The words struck like lightning. Matteo stood frozen. His lips parted, but no sound came out.

Behind him, Celeste let out a heart-wrenching cry. "No..." She shook her head frantically. "No... that’s impossible. My Felix..."

Matteo grabbed the doctor’s arms once again. "There has to be something you can do. Cure him."

The doctor looked at him helplessly. "The damage is too extensive. We’ve done everything medically possible. There isn’t anything more we can do."

Matteo slowly released his grip. It felt as though something inside him had shattered.

"I’m sorry." The doctor lowered his head before quietly walking away.

At that moment, Dominic arrived. His eyes briefly followed the departing doctor before settling on Matteo.

"What did the doctor say?"

Matteo didn’t answer immediately. His eyes were bloodshot. His fists were clenched so tightly that the veins stood out across the backs of his hands. The muscles along his jaw twitched. Two deep lines creased his forehead.

Dominic waited silently.

After a long pause, Matteo finally spoke. His voice was frighteningly calm. "Find out exactly how that accident happened."

His gaze turned icy. "I want every single detail."

Dominic sneered inwardly. He already had everything. His men had recorded the entire incident. He knew precisely how the accident had happened.

More importantly, he knew who had caused it. He could have stopped Max. Instead, he had allowed everything to unfold while collecting the evidence he needed. Still, he kept those thoughts to himself.

"Of course," Dominic replied calmly. "I’ll begin investigating immediately."

He paused. "Anything else?"

Matteo turned toward him. "If you discover anyone was behind this, find them and make them pay."

Dominic gave a respectful nod. "I’ll uncover the truth."

"Wait." Celeste’s voice stopped him. She slowly rose to her feet.

Once she regained her composure, her tear-filled eyes turned frighteningly cold. "When you find out what happened, bring the evidence to me first."

She stared directly at Dominic. "I want to know exactly who did this to my son."

Dominic lowered his gaze respectfully. "As you wish."

Inside, satisfaction spread through him. This was exactly what he wanted.

The Bellinis had already begun turning against one another. The evidence was overwhelming.

Although Max’s SUV had never physically struck Felix’s car, the footage clearly showed him waiting outside the bar.

The moment Felix drove away, Max accelerated and deliberately charged toward him, forcing Felix into a desperate evasive maneuver that ended in the horrific accident.

’That recording alone is enough to destroy him,’ Dominic thought.

He inclined his head slightly. "I’ll report everything to you as soon as I know more."

With that, he turned and walked away.

Meanwhile, Max arrived at the Vega mansion. He strode confidently toward the entrance.

Before he could step inside, two security guards blocked his path.

"Move." Max’s face darkened. "How dare you stop me?"

He glared at them. "Do you even know who I am? I’m Max Bellini, a renowned neurosurgeon."

He puffed out his chest proudly. "I’m Mila’s husband. And you are stopping me from seeing my wife?"

The guards didn’t move.

"Madam divorced you," one of them replied flatly. "She doesn’t wish to see you. You should leave."

His dismissive tone immediately irritated Max.

His face twisted with humiliation. "You dare speak to me like that?" His voice rose. "I’m Mila’s husband. She gave birth to my son. No one has the right to stop me from seeing my own child."

The guards exchanged uncertain glances. For the first time, hesitation appeared on their faces.

Seeing their reaction, Max’s confidence returned. "I’m not here to cause trouble." His tone softened deliberately. "I just want to see my son. After that, I’ll leave."

The guards hesitated again. They had been given strict orders never to let Max enter the mansion. But refusing to let a man see his own child also felt unreasonable.

Finally, one guard sighed. "We are only following Madam’s orders. Without her permission, we can’t let you in."

"Then call her." Max folded his arms. "Tell her Max is here."

The guard nodded and dialed Mila’s number.

"Madam," he waited until she answered. "Dr. Max is here. He is insisting on seeing you."

A brief silence followed. Then Mila spoke calmly. "Let him in."

"Understood."

The guard ended the call before turning toward Max. "You may go inside."

A triumphant smile spread across Max’s face. "I told you." He looked at both guards arrogantly. "She could never stop me from seeing my son."

His eyes narrowed. "You two made a mistake today. You humiliated me."

He pointed a finger at them. "I’ll remember it."

Without waiting for a response, he strode into the mansion.

The moment he entered the living room, he spotted Mila sitting quietly on the sofa.

"Mila." A broad smile spread across his face. He hurried toward her with both arms open, intending to embrace her.

Before he could get close, Mila raised a hand.

"Stop." Her voice was cold.

She looked at him without a trace of warmth. "Why are you here?"
