He smiled and immediately pressed the "Yes" button.
[The Scavenger begins to devour its prey...]
Right before his eyes, a strange blue-and-black snake slithered out of his hand and devoured the bodies of both C-Rank beasts in a matter of seconds.
He was perplexed... so the blue-and-black snake was, in fact, his Scavenger...
He shuddered at the very thought, for it was precisely that snake he had seen the moment he woke up.
Was it that snake that gave him the system? What does the Scavenger have to do with copying skills and talents? Moreover, what kind of mythological beast was this?
A small blue-and-black snake that glowed with its own light and even lulled his thoughts to sleep...
Zaid didn’t have much time to think about it.

[Scavenger has eaten a Rank C Beast: +2 Scavenger Fragments.]
[Scavenger Fragments: 4/100.]
Messages he had never seen before and a new, small Scavenger Fragments interface appeared next to his personal level.
He swallowed eagerly...
TREMOR!
The ground shook. Zaid looked up in an instant, and what he saw was an enormous, grotesque creature.
Its legs were six meters tall and had a circumference of four meters. They were so thick they looked like columns from a massive concrete structure. Its thighs and calves were scarred, and its feet were bound by incredibly heavy solid-iron shackles.
His waist reached halfway up the trees, and his upper body had a structure nailed to his back that extended down to his abdomen without touching any of his organs and then rose up to the back of his head; he looked like a hard-working slave carrying a tremendous weight, but the shackles on his hands made him look more like a prisoner.
Its head was like that of an ogre and a lion; its hair was fat, and that fat stank. Two stakes were driven deep into its eyes, preventing it from seeing.
Cursed Ogre Slave; an A-Rank beast.
Fortunately for Zaid, this creature was blind. However, it was too close, and it had already grabbed the dead B-Rank beast to eat it!
Zaid was overcome with fear... it was the most terrifying beast he had ever seen; he also remembered the legends about this cursed creature; a chill ran through his bones.
He turned around and clung to the ground to keep from falling due to the constant tremors; he began to run frantically, trying to get as far away as possible.
But the trembling resumed when the dead Rank B beast disappeared into the grotesque, accursed jaws of that damned creature.
Zaid staggered several times and slammed into a huge tree.
"Master!" Valia felt terror wash over her when she realized the enormous creature had taken the two steps toward them. She ran and tried to pull him away, suppressing the fear in her heart, but just as she grabbed him, the creature’s head swiveled toward them before it snatched up its next meal.
Valia tightened her grip, but she couldn’t move. Neither could Zaid.
When their eyes met, they felt the pressure of an A-Rank beast. It wasn’t something you could feel and still keep moving. Those creatures already possess divine power; they’re far above any B-Rank creature.
"Grrgrg." A strange growl escaped its mouth. It was certainly blind... but its ears were fine, even though it never cleaned them.
And its sense of smell was highly developed. Its nose detected delicious meat—it wasn’t going to ignore it.
Suddenly, the enormous creature moved toward them. It took care not to step on its other prey, but it moved faster than before. The tremors reached the wall and triggered some mechanisms, but they were too far away.
Zaid swallowed several times in a row and took as deep a breath as he could; he bit his tongue and pulled Valia into his arms before throwing himself to one side.
The Cursed Ogre Slave slammed his mouth against the tree and chewed on it, trying to savor that delicious meat... the meat turned into pieces of wood that tasted awful. He was a carnivore; grass and everything else tasted awful to him.
His nose snorted like a bull; his mouth chewed and spat out the pieces of wood between his teeth.
Although he couldn’t see them, he heard his prey moving... Never before had prey moved in his presence. Blood began to drip from his eye sockets more than usual.
He stood up and turned toward where he had heard the noise, then attacked head-on.
One of the nearby trees miraculously stopped in its tracks, coming within centimeters of tearing off Zaid’s head and Valia’s tail.
Zaid was even able to ignore that creature’s bad breath as he tried to survive, crawling across the ground because his legs had given out from fear.
The slave was clearly having trouble moving because of the shackles and that giant thing he was carrying on his back; that gave them a massive advantage in such a wooded area. However, that was only true if he didn’t use his hands...
Unfortunately, the slave figured that out.
He swung his arms and began cutting down trees at the roots as if he were a machine designed for that very purpose; each tree either crashed into the wall or was hurled far away. The lower-ranked creatures fled as far as they could. Even the B-rank creatures didn’t dare come out of their burrows.
A colossus was angry, and he made his presence felt.
In a matter of seconds, Zaid couldn’t get very far, and everything around him had been cleared away by the creature’s ferocious attacks.
Zaid found a hiding spot formed by leaves and several logs and darted inside.
The slave arrived, lunging forward to devour it, and destroyed several other trees and more leaves with his mouth, which angered him even more. However, for a moment, his senses lost track of his prey, throwing him off balance.
Then his body was suddenly struck by an electric shock so brutal that it paralyzed him for just a second. No one knew how many volts he had endured, but it enraged him so much that he wanted to attack anyone around him who had tried to attack him.
