Chapter 116: Chapter 116: The Power Beyond Limits
A few days later, an invitation arrived from the main headquarters of Eclipse.
The reason was obvious.
After what had happened to Aoda, I had decided that it was time to strengthen the organization once again.
I looked at the invitation in my hand for a moment before putting it down.
"Well, this is perfect timing. I was already planning to give them more power."
Draven, who had been sitting nearby, looked toward me.
"More power? What exactly do you mean by that, Master?"
"After what happened to Aoda, I realized something."
I leaned back slightly.
"They’re strong, but that doesn’t mean they’re strong enough."
Draven’s expression became more serious.
"Aoda nearly died because of those two opponents."
"Exactly."
I looked down at my hand.
"I can’t simply allow my people to die because they encounter someone stronger than them. If they’re going to continue operating on the front lines, then I need to make sure they have enough power to survive situations like that."
Cedric quietly nodded.
"That makes sense."
Draven crossed his arms.
"Then what kind of power are you planning to give them this time?"
"The power of the Fifteen-Tailed Celestial Fox."
Draven’s expression immediately froze.
"...The power of Astra?"
"Yes."
His eyes widened.
"Don’t tell me you’re planning to absorb Astra’s power."
"At least let me finish."
I sighed.
"I’m not going to take Astra’s power away from it. I’ve already gained a portion of its power through our contract, which means I can reproduce the characteristics of that power through Eclipse."
Draven stared at me.
"You can reproduce it?"
"Yes."
I nodded.
"I spent some time examining Astra with True Sight. After studying the information I obtained, I now understand the nature of each of its fifteen powers well enough to reproduce them."
Draven remained silent for several seconds.
Then he sighed.
"Why am I even surprised anymore?"
He rubbed his forehead.
"Eclipse really is impossible to measure."
Cedric glanced toward Astra, who was sitting quietly nearby.
"So Astra won’t lose anything?"
"No."
I shook my head.
"The power I’m giving them will come from Eclipse, not from Astra."
Astra tilted its head slightly, apparently more interested in the conversation than concerned about what was being discussed.
Cedric relaxed.
"I was worried for nothing."
Draven gave a small nod.
"Good. At least that’s one concern out of the way."
He paused before looking at me again.
"Although there is another matter."
"What?"
"Why give them this much power in the first place?"
Draven’s expression became slightly troubled.
"Vhan and Vince as well as The Four Black Roses are already extremely powerful. If you give them another substantial increase, those two or even all of them could potentially cross into the Transcendent realm."
"Is that a problem?"
"Not necessarily."
Draven sighed.
"From the perspective of the Order, it’s obviously beneficial. But I’m wondering about you, Master."
"Me?"
"You’re continuously giving your power to other people. Doesn’t that weaken you?"
I stared at him for a moment.
Then I laughed.
"You’re still worried about that?"
"Of course I am."
"I already explained this before. Giving power to someone else doesn’t mean I’m losing my own."
I raised one hand, allowing a small amount of Eclipse to gather around my fingers.
"Eclipse doesn’t work that way. It has no fixed limit."
The dark energy slowly disappeared from my hand.
"Even if I gave power to every member of the Order, it wouldn’t diminish my own strength."
Draven watched the Eclipse disappear before releasing a helpless sigh.
"I suppose I should have expected that answer."
"This isn’t about showing off my power, either."
My expression became more serious.
"The number of people being kidnapped has increased again, and more people are dying because of those experiments. We’ve also identified several individuals connected to the organization who possess power far beyond what ordinary warrior should be capable of."
I looked toward the invitation again.
"That’s why I want the Order prepared."
"If they’re going to continue protecting people and investigating those laboratories, I need to make sure they have the strength necessary to survive whatever comes next."
Draven was silent for a moment.
Then he leaned back.
"Understood."
He let out another quiet sigh.
"It’s your decision, Master. I won’t argue with it."
Cedric looked toward him.
"You sound jealous."
Draven’s head turned sharply.
"What did you say?"
Cedric’s expression remained perfectly calm.
"I said you sound jealous."
For a moment, neither of them moved.
Then Draven suddenly lunged toward Cedric.
"Come here."
"Wait."
Draven grabbed Cedric by the sides and began poking him repeatedly.
"Jealous, am I?"
"Pfft—"
Cedric tried to maintain his usual expression, but the moment Draven found a sensitive spot, his composure completely collapsed.
"Ah—wait, stop!"
Draven continued mercilessly.
"So you’re laughing now?"
"F-For... forgive me..."
Cedric struggled to speak between bursts of laughter.
"I didn’t mean it..."
"You should learn to respect your elders."
"You’re not even an elder!"
Draven froze.
I stared at them.
Cedric immediately covered his mouth, realizing what he had just said.
Draven slowly turned toward him.
"...What did you say?"
Cedric took a step backward.
"Nothing."
"Too late."
Draven chased him across the room.
"Master!"
Cedric’s voice was filled with laughter as he tried to escape.
"Please, forgive me!"
I couldn’t help shaking my head.
"Those two..."
Astra watched them running around the room, its tails swaying slowly behind it.
For some reason, it almost looked amused.
I sighed.
"Anyway, once we reach the headquarters, I’ll begin."
Draven stopped chasing Cedric and looked back at me.
"Begin what?"
"Strengthening the Order."
His expression immediately became serious again.
"Then I suppose everyone should be prepared."
I nodded.
I picked up the invitation.
"The next time they encounter an enemy like the one who nearly killed Aoda, I don’t want the outcome to depend on luck."
I looked toward the door.
"If they’re going to stand beneath the banner of Eclipse, then I’ll make sure they have the power to survive beneath it."
