The Eclipsed Order

Chapter 66: The True Eclipse and the Secret of Another World

Chapter 66: Chapter 66: The True Eclipse and the Secret of Another World

For several minutes, nobody on the mountain spoke.

The Eclipse that had covered the sun had already begun to fade, but the atmosphere left behind by Ares’s power still lingered faintly across the mountains. The wind slowly returned, the trees began moving again, and the distant sounds of monsters gradually became audible.

Ares descended through the sky.

The black disc covering the sun continued shrinking until the daylight finally returned to normal.

The enormous formations disappeared one after another, dissolving into particles of black and silver light before vanishing completely.

By the time Ares reached the mountain, the True Eclipse surrounding his body had already faded.

His robe remained for another moment before the dark fabric dissolved as well, returning him to his ordinary academy clothes.

His feet touched the ground.

Draven and Cedric immediately stepped forward.

Then both stopped.

They exchanged a glance before lowering themselves onto one knee and bowing deeply.

"Master."

Draven’s voice carried a strange mixture of excitement and reverence.

"We are honored to have witnessed your power."

Cedric lowered his head.

"It was beyond anything I could have imagined."

Ares looked at them.

"Hmm?"

He glanced between the two before sighing.

"There’s no need for that. You two can stand up."

Draven and Cedric slowly rose.

Ares looked toward the sky.

The sun had returned.

The strange darkness had disappeared as though it had never happened.

Still, Ares couldn’t help feeling somewhat strange.

What’s this feeling...?

He had always known that his power was extraordinary.

Even before discovering the True Eclipse, he had already possessed enough strength to overwhelm most beings he encountered.

But seeing the phenomenon he had created from his own power was different.

He had covered the sun.

He had turned day into darkness.

And he had done it without even reaching the limits of what he believed Eclipse could become.

Ares gave a quiet, almost bitter laugh.

To think I possessed this much power and didn’t even realize it.

Draven was still staring at him.

"Master."

"Hmm?"

"That power just now..."

Draven hesitated, apparently trying to find a way to phrase the question.

"What exactly was it?"

Cedric looked toward Ares as well.

"I would like to understand it too."

Ares remained silent for a moment before answering.

"It was the true manifestation of Eclipse."

"The true manifestation?"

Draven’s expression became serious.

Ares nodded.

"Eclipse isn’t simply darkness, and it isn’t an elemental attribute like fire, water, or wind. It’s closer to a fundamental power that can interact with other forms of energy and magic."

He raised one hand slightly.

"The Eclipse Power I’ve given to all of you is only an expression of that source. It changes depending on the person who receives it, which is why everyone’s abilities developed differently."

Cedric listened carefully.

"But the power itself..."

Ares looked at his hand.

"...is much deeper."

Draven frowned slightly.

"Then what exactly can it do?"

"That’s what I’m still trying to find out."

Ares smiled faintly.

"I’ve spent years experimenting with it, and I’ve only recently discovered that it has another form. The True Eclipse isn’t simply a stronger version of the power you already possess."

He looked toward the sky.

"It’s closer to Eclipse in its original state."

Draven’s eyes widened.

"So the power we possess..."

"Is only a fragment."

Ares’s answer was simple.

"Your abilities are still your own. Eclipse doesn’t erase the person receiving it. It adapts to them, strengthens their natural talents, and gives them the means to develop abilities that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise."

Cedric slowly nodded.

"That explains our evolution."

Ares looked toward him.

"Exactly."

There was a brief silence.

Then Ares’s expression became slightly more serious.

"There is something else you two should know."

Draven and Cedric immediately became attentive.

"I don’t come from this world."

Both of them froze.

Draven stared at him.

"...What?"

Cedric’s usually calm expression changed as well.

"What do you mean by that, Master?"

Ares looked toward the distant horizon.

"I came from a world called Earth."

"Earth..."

Draven repeated the unfamiliar name.

"Yes."

Ares nodded.

"It was a world where magic didn’t exist."

Draven’s eyes widened.

"No magic?"

"None."

Ares continued calmly.

"But our technology was considerably more advanced than what exists in this world."

He paused.

"Medicine, communication, transportation, computers, machines, weapons... there were countless things that people here would probably consider impossible."

Draven and Cedric exchanged a glance.

Neither seemed to know how to respond.

Ares smiled faintly.

"I suppose that’s why some of the things I know seem strange to you."

Cedric looked toward him.

"Then you remember your previous life?"

"Yes."

Ares’s expression became slightly distant.

"I remember almost everything."

Draven remained silent.

Then Ares raised one hand.

His appearance began to change.

The dark and silver hair he currently possessed gradually shifted, revealing the dark gray hair on one side. His features became slightly sharper, and the clothes covering his body changed as well.

The calm appearance of Ares D’Averon disappeared.

In its place stood the appearance he had possessed before his reincarnation.

The appearance of the assassin he had once been.

Draven’s eyes widened.

Cedric stared silently.

Ares looked down at his hands.

"This is what I looked like before coming here."

Draven slowly stepped closer.

"So you really weren’t born in this world."

"No."

Ares shook his head.

"I wasn’t."

Cedric looked at him carefully.

"Then how did you come here?"

Ares sighed.

"That’s a long story."

He paused before continuing.

"But technically speaking..."

His gaze lowered slightly.

"I died."

Draven’s expression froze.

"I was killed during an assassination mission."

Cedric remained completely silent.

"And after that, I was reincarnated into this world as Ares D’Averon."

Neither man spoke for several seconds.

The revelation was simply too strange to process immediately.

Finally, Draven broke the silence.

"I can’t believe it."

Ares looked toward him.

"Why?"

"Because I thought you were simply an unusually extraordinary strange human."

Ares smiled.

"That’s still true."

Draven shook his head.

"No, Master. You’re telling me that you’re from another world, you possess a power that doesn’t behave like ordinary magic, you’ve somehow created an organization that spans the kingdom..."

Cedric quietly nodded.

"I am shocked as well, Master."

Ares looked toward him.

Cedric’s expression remained composed, but there was genuine curiosity in his eyes.

"To think that our Master came from another world..."

He looked toward the distant mountains.

"Then the knowledge you possess wasn’t simply inherited from your family or learned from this kingdom."

"Not entirely."

Ares returned his appearance to normal.

"There are things I remember from Earth that don’t exist here."

Draven smiled.

"Then I want to hear more about it."

"About Earth?"

"Yes."

His eyes brightened.

"You said there was no magic, yet your technology was far more advanced. What kind of world was it?"

Ares thought for a moment.

"It was complicated."

He smiled faintly.

"There were enormous cities filled with buildings taller than most castles here. People could communicate instantly across enormous distances, travel through the sky inside machines, and cross entire countries within hours."

Draven stared.

"You had flying machines?"

"Yes."

"Without magic?"

"Without magic."

Draven looked genuinely amazed.

"That’s incredible."

Cedric quietly added,

"I would also like to hear about it."

Ares laughed softly.

"You two really are curious."

Draven smiled.

"Of course."

Ares looked toward the horizon.

"If there were some way for us to travel between worlds, I’d definitely take you there someday."

Draven’s eyes immediately lit up.

"Really?"

"Sure."

Ares shrugged.

"Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea how to travel between worlds."

Draven’s expression fell.

"Oh."

"But I’ll figure it out eventually."

Cedric looked toward him.

"You would actually try?"

"Of course."

Ares placed his hands behind his head.

"If Earth still exists somewhere out there, I’d like to see it again."

Draven smiled.

"And if we manage to reach it?"

"I’ll show you around."

"Deal."

Cedric nodded.

"I would like to see it as well."

Ares looked at both of them.

"Then we’ll figure it out someday."

For a while, the three remained on the mountain beneath the returning sunlight.

The kingdom below had already begun returning to normal, although rumors about the sudden darkness would undoubtedly spread throughout the cities before the day was over.

Nobody down there knew what had actually happened.

Some would call it an omen.

Others would blame an ancient monster.

Some would probably claim that the gods themselves had darkened the sky.

Ares simply looked toward the sun.

For now, that was enough.

He had finally witnessed the True Eclipse.

And now that he knew what Eclipse was capable of, one question remained.

How much further can it evolve?
