The Eclipsed Order

Chapter 73: The Eclipse Turns the Tide

Chapter 73: Chapter 73: The Eclipse Turns the Tide

Count D’Averon hesitated before speaking, his eyes remaining fixed on the two women standing before him. Even after witnessing the sudden appearance of the Eclipse Order and the overwhelming power they had displayed, he still could not understand why they had chosen to interfere in a war that had nothing to do with them.

"What is your purpose in helping us?"

Nyxaria tilted her head slightly, her face still partially concealed beneath the dark hood of her Eclipse attire.

"Don’t worry about it, Count. As you can see, we were simply here to help."

She gave him a small smile, as though the matter were far less complicated than it appeared.

"Or would you prefer that we retreat?"

"N-No, of course not!"

Count D’Averon immediately shook his head.

"If it weren’t for your intervention, our forces would have been overwhelmed by now. Whatever your reason may be, you have saved the lives of countless soldiers. For that, I sincerely thank you."

Captain Rodan stepped forward and lowered his head as well.

"We owe you our gratitude. Without your assistance, the situation would have become considerably worse."

"P-Please, raise your heads."

Nyxaria’s voice became slightly flustered.

"There is no need to be so formal."

She glanced briefly toward Valentine, who was standing beside her.

The other woman simply smiled.

Nyxaria could already imagine what would happen if the Black Roses heard that she had allowed the Count of D’Averon to bow before her.

I’d never hear the end of it.

She quietly sighed beneath her hood.

Around them, the battlefield was gradually changing.

The D’Averon soldiers who had survived the initial clash were beginning to regroup, while the wounded were being carried away from the front lines and treated by the healers. Some soldiers were still too shocked to understand what had happened, repeatedly glancing toward the strange warriors in black robes who had suddenly appeared and turned the tide of the battle.

Meanwhile, the Eclipse Order continued advancing.

Then, a figure suddenly appeared beside Nyxaria.

"Lady Nyxaria."

Zyra’s voice was calm despite the chaos surrounding them.

Nyxaria turned toward her.

"What is it?"

"The assassins are moving toward the Countess."

Count D’Averon, who happened to hear the report, immediately stiffened.

"Assassins?"

Zyra nodded.

"Yes. We have confirmed their movement. They should be approaching the estate soon."

"How many?"

Count D’Averon’s expression became serious.

"Please, calm down, Count."

"Valentine, go with Zyra and deal with them."

Valentine sighed softly.

"Fine. Just don’t slack off while I’m gone."

Nyxaria’s eyes narrowed.

"What did you say?"

Valentine’s shoulders shook slightly.

"I’m joking."

She laughed softly before turning away.

A moment later, she disappeared from the battlefield alongside Zyra.

Count D’Averon watched them leave before turning his attention back to Nyxaria.

There were still too many questions.

And now, more than ever, he needed answers.

"For what purpose are you helping us?"

Nyxaria looked at him.

"Not only did you save our lives the last time, but now you’ve come to our aid again during this war."

Count D’Averon’s voice carried genuine confusion.

"Why would you go this far for us?"

Nyxaria remained silent for a moment.

Then she shook her head.

"I’m sorry, Count, but we cannot answer that."

"Why?"

"Because we’re simply following orders."

"Orders?"

The word immediately caught his attention.

Count D’Averon’s eyes widened slightly, while Captain Rodan looked equally surprised.

"You mean someone ordered you to intervene?"

Nyxaria didn’t answer.

Instead, her attention shifted toward the battlefield.

A faint smile appeared beneath her hood.

Her eyes settled on two figures fighting among the enemy soldiers.

Vanessa and Hidan.

Even among the chaos of the battlefield, the difference between them and everyone else was obvious.

"Looks like they’re having fun."

Captain Rodan followed her gaze.

"My lord... look over there."

Count D’Averon turned.

His expression immediately changed.

Vanessa was surrounded.

Dozens of soldiers had closed around her from every direction, weapons raised as they attempted to overwhelm her through sheer numbers.

For a moment, she simply stood there.

Then she bent her knees.

"What is she doing?"

Before anyone could answer, Vanessa suddenly leapt into the air.

Her body rose above the surrounding soldiers, her violet hair flowing behind her as she rotated in midair.

Then she descended.

The massive scythe in her hands swept through the formation.

A violent arc tore across the battlefield.

Several soldiers were thrown aside, while others collapsed from the force of the strike.

Before the remaining soldiers could react, Vanessa had already moved again.

Another swing.

Then another.

Each movement was precise, overwhelming, and far too fast for ordinary soldiers to follow.

Count D’Averon’s eyes widened.

"What strength..."

Captain Rodan’s expression had become completely rigid.

"Those aren’t ordinary fighters."

"No," Count D’Averon muttered.

"They’re not."

On the opposite side of the battlefield, Hidan was engaged in a completely different fight.

A High-Ranking Knight stood before him, his sword coated in aura as he delivered one heavy strike after another.

Hidan avoided the first.

He deflected the second.

Then, during the opening created by the knight’s third attack, Hidan stepped inside his guard.

His sword struck the knight’s shoulder.

The man staggered.

Before he could recover, Hidan followed with another slash.

The knight’s head fell.

Silence seemed to spread through the nearby soldiers for a brief moment.

A High-Ranking Knight had just been killed.

Not after a prolonged duel.

Not after a desperate exchange.

He had simply been overwhelmed.

Captain Rodan stared at the scene.

"Impossible..."

Count D’Averon said nothing.

His gaze moved between Vanessa, Hidan, and the other members of the Eclipse Order scattered across the battlefield.

They were young.

Far too young.

Yet the strength they possessed was something even experienced knights could barely comprehend.

Even Adrian and Hans aren’t anywhere near this level yet.

The thought came naturally.

His two sons were talented, certainly, but what he was witnessing was beyond ordinary talent.

How could people of their age possess this kind of strength?

Nyxaria noticed the expression on his face.

"You worry too much, Count."

She looked toward the battlefield.

"Hmm... let’s see."

She tilted her head slightly.

"What would you like me to do?"

Count D’Averon looked at her.

Nyxaria’s tone remained casual.

"Just say the word, and I’ll bring Count Velmorne’s head directly to you."

"T-That..."

Count D’Averon froze.

Even Captain Rodan looked stunned.

For a moment, the image of Velmorne’s arrogant face flashed through his mind.

Part of him certainly wanted to accept.

But he slowly shook his head.

"No."

His voice became firm.

"It’s all right. I’ll kill him myself."

Nyxaria stared at him for a moment.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Then, if that’s what you wish."

She gave him a small smile.

Despite the confusion still filling their minds, Count D’Averon and Captain Rodan could not deny the strange sense of relief that had settled over them.

The battle that had seemed almost hopeless only moments ago had suddenly changed.

Their reinforcements had never arrived.

They had received no aid from neighboring territories.

Yet somehow, the Eclipse Order had appeared at the exact moment they needed them most.

And on the opposite side of the battlefield, the situation was becoming increasingly chaotic.

Count Velmorne stood among his commanders, his face twisted with disbelief and anger.

"What the hell is happening?!"

His eyes followed another group of his soldiers being cut down by the black-robed warriors.

One of his officers approached him hurriedly.

"My lord, those people..."

"I know who they are!"

Velmorne’s voice thundered across the command area.

His fists tightened.

He remembered them.

Those same mysterious warriors had appeared before.

They were the reason his forces had suffered such heavy losses during their previous encounter, forcing him to abandon his advance rather than risk losing even more soldiers.

And now they had appeared again.

Those bastards...

His anger rose with every passing second.

"They’re the same people from before."

The officer swallowed nervously.

"Then... what should we do?"

Velmorne’s eyes burned with fury.

"What do you think?"

He pointed toward the battlefield.

"Kill them."

His voice became colder.

"I don’t care how you do it. Surround them, overwhelm them, send the knights after them—use everything we have."

He clenched his teeth.

"Those people are interfering with my war again."

Then his expression twisted into something far more vicious.

"Do not let a single one of them leave this battlefield alive."
