Chapter 166

Munien sighed.

'Damn it! I'm already sick of going back to that place...'

There was nothing she could do except sigh, return to her fourteen-year-old form, and leave the silent mansion behind.

Almost giving up? She had never entertained such a thought for one simple reason: Mine Rasuha had called her more than fifty times, yet she had completely ignored every single call.

She knew none of it was intentional. Ever since their separation, or more precisely, since losing her spiritual physical body, Munien had known that her power in this world was extremely limited and had been growing weaker ever since that terrible incident in Forgenate.

She wanted revenge, but the winged creature had vanished. She wanted to find another reason why the summoning was no longer working, but Munien simply did not know, or more accurately, was unaware. Even though in the days before, she had already discovered a clue, a suffering.

'Because of that bastard, I've become no different from a lowly human myself!'

With her small body, Munien walked as though the iron fence did not exist before her. Passing through it, she continued along Chavez Road and headed back toward Minehold City.

....

Semilir City, Schoutzin, eastern district.

Throughout the day, Zavi had nothing else to do except calculate his expenses and carefully watch his pocket watch.

He was still reflecting on his statement and hypothesis in the abandoned house in Belan Village.

'If that's true, I've only just realized that this chain and pocket watch are connected to the ritual of becoming a Receiver of Prisoner. Of course, I know I was being foolish, at least back then. Thinking about that chain feels like recalling my bitter experiences on Earth.'

Because of that, Zavi had to consider whether searching for the chain and obtaining clues related to those two objects would be a good idea for maximizing Prisoner's potential.

After reconsidering it, Zavi decided not to think too much about the chain and would search for it after infiltrating Ountakana's grand underground auction.

As for the other abilities at the same level, through Error, Zavi had realized that he had developed into a true Receiver of Prisoner.

By relying on his artificial clones, he no longer needed to worry about physical injuries or perform transfer techniques that would drain his spirituality.

Using the technique he had only recently learned consumed a considerable amount of spirituality.

As for the three of them, Zavi did not think much about the possibility of any of them committing betrayal. With the connection between the poor and the Kalderan nobility, he and Evelina continued exchanging letters.

Not love letters, but correspondence regarding the condition of the ten people Zavi had rescued from the brutality of James Moriarty.

Knowing that the plan was drawing closer, he thought that relaxing, gathering information, fighting bounty hunters, and dealing with sudden enemies was the best approach available to him.

Zavi let out a sigh while standing beside the open window. As the night wind continued to brush against his face, he raised his pocket watch and aligned it with the blue moon, partially veiled by fog and lingering factory smoke.

Click.

"...How much longer are you going to stand there?"

The flat voice, unmistakably feminine, pulled him from his thoughts.

Zavi reacted by turning around and slipping his pocket watch into the pocket of his black trousers, folded on the right side.

Mine Rasuha continued walking forward while looking Zavi up and down as though something about him bothered her.

"I never thought a man could change this quickly... The killer of Salilfai Lamena."

Amid her flat statement, Mine added a faint trace of sarcasm.

"..."

Zavi remained silent, his gaze fixed on her.

"The two of them. Where are they going?" Mine asked as she walked to his left and sat down on the long sofa.

Zavi watched her for a few seconds before moving to the right and sitting in a reclining chair.

Crossing his legs, Zavi opened a newspaper and spoke in a somewhat heavy voice,

"Regarding the auction theft I mentioned that day, it will be held at the end of March."

Mine, wearing her usual expressionless face, frowned in confusion.

"Wasn't that document supposed to say April?"

'Weren't she and Sirius being hunted because they stole that document?'

She thought while glancing to the side before looking back at Zavi, whose face was hidden behind the newspaper.

Hearing that, Zavi lowered the newspaper slightly, peered over it, and replied, "They want to hold the event earlier because a major underground auction carries a much higher risk of theft and infiltration than they anticipated. After dealing with thieves and infiltrators, it seems they've learned their lesson."

Zavi let out a long sigh. Afterward, he resumed reading the newspaper he had bought that afternoon and waited for Mine Rasuha's opinion.

Mine originally wanted to tell him something important, but she was still considering whether it was appropriate to say it now.

Moreover, the significant differences between the two of them only strengthened her hesitation.

Inside the second-floor room, a chandelier cast a warm glow that made the room feel alive and serene, flowing like a river. In one corner stood an affordable sofa arranged neatly enough to give off a luxurious atmosphere. The room was further decorated with various unique ornaments, including a bookshelf, a bed on the left side of the sofa, and the refreshing touch of artificial ornamental plants.

Mine blinked.

"Ah, then I didn't know that."

"..."

A few seconds later, Mine suddenly realized something.

"Why not use that artifact to destroy the auction?"

Zavi instinctively slapped his forehead.

"I'd end up buried beneath the auction's rubble and caught in explosions from the steam-powered machinery around it," Zavi said quietly, trying to explain as clearly as possible.

For a moment, Mine stared blankly before remembering that Ountakana's auction was held underground.

"I just found that out," she whispered while touching her forehead.

"Several weeks after you told me about this plan. So, what exactly are you looking for there?"

Zavi shrugged, noticing the seriousness in Mine's tone.

"I don't know," he answered rather apathetically. "If it's valuable, if there are artifacts or other information there, then yes, I'll steal them."

"And what about the major Tenano Department that's going to guard the place?"

Without giving Zavi a chance to rest, Mine immediately asked another question.

"I'll drive them away," Zavi answered, still responding calmly.

"What if one of them is a Receiver? What will you do then?"

"You'll handle it," Zavi replied indifferently.

Mine was momentarily stunned and nearly rose from her seat.

"Huh? Am I being included?" she asked to make sure.

A faint smile appeared on Zavi's face.

"Of course I'm bringing you. That fan artifact is in your hands."

Without waiting for Mine to respond, Zavi quickly added,

"I'm not going to sell that strange fan myself."

'With destructive power like that, it'd be a waste to sell it, especially if someone else ended up using it.'

Thinking about the Hoisline fan artifact within his team, Zavi felt that collecting rare artifacts to aid his journey in searching for demons was a good idea.

As for the search for the rare and mysterious artifact, the 'Lantern of Destiny,' Zavi, with Aaron's help, sent a letter to a man named Kuhan.

The contents of the letter were:

Dear Mister Kuhan, please accept my sincerest apologies. I am Sirius, his cousin, and I deeply apologize for my cousin's absurd remarks.

In case you've forgotten, let me explain.

Regarding his promise to deliver the 'Lantern of Destiny' to you within one month, it was because he was drunk that day.

What I am saying is true. Although he appears serious on the outside and can easily convince people with his smooth words, he is nothing more than a strange man who likes to indulge in fantasies.

I, Sirius, and the smiling lady offer our deepest apologies.

....

Mine looked at him while suppressing a smile.

"Heh, I'll be waiting to see that crazy stunt of yours."

Since there was nothing else to do, Zavi rose from his reclining chair, left the room, and returned to his own room to rest for a while.

Mine, who remained seated in the same spot, stretched out her legs and lay down, using the back of the sofa as a pillow.

'Is Munien here?'

That was the only thing she could imagine. She had noticed that their spiritual connection had strengthened several hours earlier, though tonight it felt faint and distant.

'What, what exactly has happened to her... and to me?'

With the emptiness in her heart, Mine stared at the ceiling while her hand seemed to be grasping toward it.

A faint smile formed on her expressionless face, but it did not last long before Mine rose from her position.

As she stood, her gaze swept across the room before she decided to return to her own bedroom on the first floor.

From that moment on, the room became silent, leaving behind only the echoes of their conversation and the dreams each of them wished to achieve.

....

Inside a bar on Schoutzin Street No. 39, Aaron and Hana sought comfort through drinks and conversation, not excessively, despite being intoxicated.

"So, Sirius, was what you said really true?"

Aaron nodded while briefly covering his mouth as something strange rose from his stomach.

"Yeah, it's true," he answered quietly, nearly losing control and throwing up.

Hana chuckled to herself amid the murmurs of other customers filling the bar.

"...Ah, should we head home now? It's getting pretty late," Hana said softly.

Aaron merely nodded. Then he shook his head and walked out of the bar. Their goal was simple: get home safely and collapse onto a comfortable bed.

However, that intention vanished the moment their minds cleared completely after noticing the suspicious movements of several robed figures who seemed to harbor ill intentions.
