Chapter 1268: Chapter 1268: A Brawl Crowd?
"Teacher Liu, I’ve explained everything to them. For now, let’s admit them first, then conduct exams on the patient’s children."
Liu Yiqing walked in.
"Alright, do a gastroscopy, then proceed with routine treatment for cirrhosis. Also, prepare the materials; I’ll inform the director later." Liu Banxia said.
"Teacher Liu, can we get involved in this at that time?" Liu Yiqing asked.
Liu Banxia nodded with a smile, "Liver transplant surgeries aren’t common; we definitely need to get involved. Prepare the materials first; I’ll talk to the director soon."
Liu Yiqing quickly ran out; this surgery is indeed a rare opportunity.
Although it’s still uncertain whether there’s a chance to operate, if the children are to be donors, the likelihood is quite high.
"If you ask me, the director will surely let you handle it, maybe just supervise from the side." Wang Huan said.
"We’ll see. If that’s really the case, I need to prepare properly. I’ll take a look outside first; Shi Lei is off today." Liu Banxia said with a smile.
He had just considered the issue, and listening to the leader’s arrangement is all that matters.
"Just looking for you, we just got a call from the dispatch center—a couple argued, and the patient’s arm was cut by glass. The wound is quite deep, possibly injuring an arterial vessel, and a tourniquet has been applied."
Just as he stepped out, Qi Wentai came running over.
"Wow, that’s quite a fight, huh? Prepare the operating room." Liu Banxia said.
"Are you going to take it on?" Qi Wentai asked.
"I’ll do it. That tetanus patient has been distracting me. This surgery will help me focus a bit." Liu Banxia nodded.
Qi Wentai felt a bit exasperated. His intention was to let Liu Banxia supervise a routine admission, not expecting Liu Banxia to use surgery to clear his mind. It’s something only Liu Banxia can do.
"By the way, male or female patient?" Liu Banxia asked.
"Female patient." Qi Wentai replied.
"Xu Yino, prepare for admission; it’s an arm arterial vessel injury." Liu Banxia called out.
"Okay, has the operating room been arranged? I think two bags of blood should be sufficient." Xu Yino replied casually.
"Reporting to the leader, everything is ready; please proceed." Liu Banxia said seriously.
Xu Yino paused for a second, then put on the demeanor of a leader, "Director Liu performed well, ensuring proper supervision."
This amused everyone. Only Liu Banxia can play around like this with the six kids; others can’t.
In less than five minutes, the emergency vehicle stopped at the front.
"Patient is unconscious, systolic pressure 90, heart rate 120, suspected right arm radial artery cut, tourniquet applied, administering fluids."
The paramedic pushing the patient down said.
"Doctor, save Dandan, she can’t die!" The patient’s husband, arriving with the ambulance, shouted nervously.
"You should get your facial wounds treated too. If you’re worried, register for her first. Room one for emergency, transfer to bed, then open intravenous access, and start blood transfusion." Xu Yino said.
The husband’s injuries looked quite serious too; his face was scratched multiple times, skin torn and broken.
Liu Banxia instinctively glanced at the female patient’s nails; she had gotten a manicure, bright and shiny, with some skin tissue still attached.
This really was a fierce battle, during the holiday season; why can’t things be peaceful?
Arriving in emergency room one, Xu Yino finished connecting the patient to the monitor and started the blood transfusion. As soon as she loosened the tourniquet a bit, blood spurted out from the wound.
"Teacher Liu, should we prepare for a routine surgery?" Xu Yino said after fastening it again.
Liu Banxia nodded, "You go ahead and perform it; I’ll supervise. Although the surgery isn’t large, it’s quite complicated to handle."
"Understood. Blood routine, blood biochemistry, cross-matching, Cui Jia, come assist me on the stage." Xu Yino said.
"Doctor, how’s Dandan?"
Just as Xu Yino stepped out of the emergency room, the patient’s husband hurriedly asked.
"She had hypovolemic hypotension when admitted, but the blood replenishment has improved it, and her heart rate has lowered to 100. She will need surgery soon to stitch the blood vessels and tendons." Xu Yino said.
"The situation isn’t serious. I noticed two facial scratches, but they’re not deep and don’t require stitching. Did she hit her head? See if a CT is needed."
"No, she didn’t hit her head. I pushed her, and she leaned against the makeup mirror, then fainted due to excessive bleeding." The patient’s husband explained hurriedly.
"That’s alright; I didn’t see any other bruises. Or else, you would be in trouble. Never hit your spouse at any point, got it?" Xu Yino said.
"Where would I dare to hit her? Look at my face; it’s scratched terribly. I couldn’t just stand still." The patient’s husband said with a bitter smile.
"Doctor, there’s no life-threatening danger, right? She lost quite a lot of blood. I wrapped it with a towel, and there’s still a lot of blood at home."
"There’s no major issue currently, but because an arterial vessel was hurt, the blood loss was significant. Handle the hospital admission procedures, and she’ll need two to three days for recovery afterward." Xu Yino said.
"Alright, I’ll get it done now."
The patient’s husband said, running over to handle the procedures.
"Teacher Liu, why do you think they fought?" Xu Yino asked gossipy.
"How should I know? There could be many reasons, but that temper is certainly explosive." Liu Banxia remarked with a sigh.
After being a doctor for so long, these kinds of injuries become pretty clear at a glance.
It’s not because he’s a man and therefore takes the husband’s side. At least, like Xu Yino said, not hitting the wife is quite commendable.
His wounds are all defensive, whereas the female patient only has two small cuts on her face, likely caused by glass fragments.
No other bruises, indicating she’s the aggressor.
"Is that patient taken care of? We have another one, stabbed twice, once in the abdomen and once in the chest." Qi Wentai rushed over.
"Goodness, what’s going on? It’s the New Year, and people are getting into fights? Call the cardiac surgeons over; we don’t know if the heart is injured." Liu Banxia said.
"I’ve already called Director Chen; he has nothing else today." Qi Wentai replied.
Regarding this patient, Liu Banxia didn’t dare be negligent. Such stab wounds can range from minor to critical. If significant organs are damaged, there might really be no chance of saving them.
"I hope you won’t need me today," Chen Xuehai said as he arrived.
"You can never be sure. I’ve scheduled the operating room right next to Xu Yino; she has a vascular and tendon repair surgery going on." Liu Banxia said.
"You haven’t said anything today, have you?" Chen Xuehai asked warily.
"No, heaven and earth as my witness, I haven’t said a word." Liu Banxia quickly replied.
During the New Year, he must "speak and act cautiously."
Although he hopes to perform surgery, he doesn’t want to become a true "jinx."
"Miao Rui, prepare for admission, it’s an abdominal stab wound." Liu Banxia looked around and chose Miao Rui.
Miao Rui quickly nodded and prepared for the admission process.
After a while, the ambulance arrived at the emergency center.
Maybe it was psychological, but the siren sounded more urgent than for the previous patient.
"Patient, 33 years old, two stab wounds in the abdomen, the third knife in oblique. Blood pressure 100/70, heart rate 130, unconscious, given fluids, knife left in place."
The paramedic pushing the patient down explained.
Seeing the patient’s condition, Chen Xuehai frowned tightly.
Judging by the knife’s placement, it has likely punctured the left chest wall, possibly injuring the heart. Although the blood pressure hasn’t dropped much, vigilance is necessary.
"Rescue Room Two," Miao Rui said.
"Doctor, is Dahao going to be alright?" asked a woman who had followed.
"Uh... let’s examine first. Which of you is the patient’s family? Please register him first; we’ll explain the situation after the examination." Liu Banxia said.
"I’m family," replied another woman beside them.
Liu Banxia felt the situation seemed a bit chaotic; the two women appeared to know each other, yet perhaps with some conflict.
But there wasn’t time to dwell on that; he nodded to the police accompanying them and entered the rescue room.
"It’s dangerous. Look at the X-ray just taken; it seems the heart is injured," Chen Xuehai said.
"That’s quite possible, what about the ultrasound results?" Liu Banxia asked.
"Teacher Liu, we’re not at the chest yet. The abdominal cavity has a lot of free fluid, not very clear on the scan. I suspect the intestines might be injured, and there is some fluid in the chest cavity as well," Miao Rui who was conducting the ultrasound said.
"What to do? Should we operate immediately, or perform a color Doppler ultrasound?" Liu Banxia asked.
"Let’s do a color Doppler, to be on the safe side. There might be a cut on the heart muscle already, but if not, opening the chest would be too rash," Chen Xuehai said.
"Okay, I’ll go talk to the patient’s family." Liu Banxia nodded.
"Doctor, how is Dahao?"
Just as Liu Banxia stepped out, the first woman to speak rushed over again.
"You’re not the patient’s family; I can’t explain it to you. Hasn’t the family come back yet?" Liu Banxia asked.
"It’s my husband who injured Dahao; we called the police and 120 to confess," the woman quickly explained.
Liu Banxia felt his head spinning, unable to untangle their complicated relationships.
Luckily, the real family member of the patient arrived.
"Currently, there is free fluid in the abdominal cavity. The exact condition can only be determined after we open it up. However, there’s a very dangerous situation now; the last stab might have cut the patient’s heart," Liu Banxia explained.
"Director Liu, we should operate immediately; there is a laceration on the heart muscle," at this moment, Chen Xuehai also stepped out.
"OK, I’ll prepare the surgical consent form now." Liu Banxia nodded.
"Doctor, please save Dahao; it’s my fault, all my fault," said the non-family woman tearfully.
"We will definitely try to save him; just get him to the operating room. You come with me to sign the surgical consent form," Liu Banxia said looking at the patient’s family.
The real family member of the patient turned pale, fully aware of how dangerous it is if the heart has a cut.
