Dark. Everything around Wolryung was dark.
‘W-Where am I?’
It was so dark that he couldn’t even see himself. At least the eerie silence made it seem like he was in a place where nothing existed.
“Is this... hell?”
Then suddenly he could see a light in front of him. He could just tell by the faintness of the light that it was quite far from him.
Well, Wolryung wasn’t surprised at all. He had already witnessed so many strange things by now. So, another one wouldn’t make any difference. If he was feeling something right now it was nothing but annoyance.
“Man... It would’ve been better to just die at this rate.”
Wolryung started walking toward the light now. His mind filled with many thoughts and questions.
‘Am I dreaming again? But it’s also too real to consider it a dream though.’
Just like the dream he had before about his dad, this dream also felt like the same. He could feel his body moving, his breathing, he could feel everything as if it was the reality.
Then the same question arrives again.
Which was the reality?
The time with his father? The time in the Murim world? Or now in this vast dark place with a faint light?
“Ah, I don’t wanna think anymore. Let’s just see what that light actually is.”
Step... step... step...
The sound of his footsteps echoed through the void as he went forward slowly. And the closer he got to the light, the bigger it became. When he arrived in front of it he could see a light in the shape of a big door.
“...”
‘Do I need to go inside it or something?’
He had a bad feeling about this. But he couldn’t just stay in this dark void forever. So, taking a deep breath, he stepped through the door of light.
When Wolryung went beyond the door, seeing the spectacle in front of him, his pupils slowly widened.
Clang! Crinnnnng! Clang!
“...What... is... this...?”
Clang! Clang! Crinnnnng!
It was the entrance of the Murim alliance branch. But unlike before, its field was drenched in blood, countless corpses lay unevenly on the ground, twisted bodies, some still alive, breathing their last breath, while others left alive desperately fighting.
A group of people covered in black clothes were killing the people of the alliance without any mercy.
Wolryung was totally stunned by it.
Clang!
What was happening here?
Then his eyes went to a corner on a familiar, lifeless body.
“N-No...”
“I-It... can’t... be...”
Wolryung’s body started shaking now as he slowly approached the body.
“How...? Just how...?”
It was his own face.
“What kind of...?”
“No... it can’t be.”
As he touched that face he could feel the coldness on it. The feeling of touching a lifeless body...
“I’m... right here. So how...?”
It was then...
“You bastards!”
A thunderous scream tore through the gruesome battlefield. Wolryung slowly looked toward the side where the scream came from.
“How dare you?! How dare you touch... my brother!”
It was a young man of his age, a young man who screamed as tears ran through his cheeks.
“I’ll kill you!”
The young man, in pure madness, was massacring the members of the group in black robes.
It wasn’t like he was invincible in front of them. Swords were reaching him, cutting his flesh, blood kept coming out, a sword stuck in his chest. But the young man didn’t stop. He kept going forward, swinging his sword in madness.
Seeing the sight, Wolryung clenched his teeth hard enough, it felt like they might shatter.
“No! Stop it!”
Wolryung screamed with all his might.
“Stop it, Jin Ho! You’re gonna...”
“Huh?!”
Suddenly Wolryung’s eyes snapped open. He immediately sat up, breathing frantically.
“Huff! Huff!”
“Young master. You woke up?!”
“Brat, you ok?”
“What happened to you, brother?”
Wolryung, who was still in shock, scanned the whole area. The fields weren’t drenched in blood now. There were no corpses on the field nor were there any members of the group in black robes. Everything was normal. Then he looked at the faces in front of him which were filled with worries. They all also looked normal.
But Wolryung’s eyes were still wide.
‘What is going on?’
He looked at Jin Ho, who was perfectly fine now. There was not a single wound on his body.
“W-Where are we, Jin Ho?”
“...”
‘Did he lose it again?’
All of them became even more worried now, seeing Wolryung like that. But Jin Ho didn’t ask anything and just answered him.
“We are at the entrance of the Murim alliance now, young master.”
“...”
It looked like Wolryung hadn’t heard him at all.
Well, that was understandable. Wolryung’s face was showing that it was in great shock right now. But nobody could tell or guess, for what reason he looked like that.
So, Jin Ho just cleared his throat now as he continued again.
“We arrived at the alliance to hand those two over to the alliance. And...”
Seeing Wolryung, giving no attention to his answer, Jin Ho made an unpleasant face.
‘Why ask questions if you don’t wanna hear the answer?’
On the other hand, Wolryung was in deep thought.
‘No... Was that a dream again? But why?’
Why was he seeing those kinds of dreams now?
No, he might have taken the time when he met his father as a dream but that dream just now...
He couldn’t just ignore it. The way he felt pain on his head before the dream...
No, with the feeling of reality inside those dreams alone made them unbelievable to be a dream.
‘Just what is it exactly?’
“...!”
Suddenly, Wolryung flinched as a realization hit him.
‘The side plot...’
Right! That was it.
It was the very first side plot of the novel ‘Sword of The Dark Heaven’.
