The Evil God Summoned by the Saintess
Chapter 471 - 469: Hilia’s Victory SpeechGaldon underestimated her, and Hilia gave him the illusion that she was just a harmless little rabbit.
The farther the distance, the more time a Mage has to react; only by getting close can you make the target fail to respond in time.
At the same time, while Hilia pretended to be scared and tried to run, standing right up against the Array barrier, she was quietly infiltrating the courtyard’s Array.
The ice mist bursting from low-tier Magic was the setup for the Magic she was about to cast.
Tier Four Magic—"Freeze All Things"... in its weakened form, "Freeze One Thing."
High-tier Magic is formed by fusing and strengthening low-tier Magic. Theoretically, as long as you’re not afraid of the side effects of forcibly using Tier Four Magic, anyone can use high-tier Magic.
Most of the side effects are Magic Power backlash and instant depletion. If your refinement isn’t enough and you still force the spell, the Magic Power you burn is several times that of others. And as a high-tier spell, you cast one and you’ll get sucked dry like a husk, and because there’s no environmental Magic Power buff, its power is weak as hell.
But if you only use a part of it, that problem doesn’t exist.
The freezing bound Galdon’s movements, and Hilia’s Spiritual Power turned into countless needles through Mage’s Hand, viciously stabbing into Galdon’s mind.
Then, a flood of Magic and Scrolls were unleashed. A single Tier Three Magic might not be able to hurt a Tier Four Mage.
But two, three, ten, dozens of them—no matter how solid the defense, it can still tear apart the target’s line of defense.
Besides, a Mage’s own physical defense actually isn’t that high. Other than relying on gear, most of the time they depend on Magic to defend.
Other than that Mage Robe on him, Galdon had no other means of defense.
"That freezing mist was to freeze the Mage Robe on you!"
A barrage of Magic drowned Galdon. Under Hilia’s Mage’s Hand guidance, these spells even triggered all kinds of strange reactions, creating greater power.
She didn’t give Galdon any time to react and blasted him flying.
Hilia followed right after, continuing her storm-like assault.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Hilia locked onto Galdon’s position; even if the white explosion mist blocked her sight, she could still find him at the first moment.
Ever since fighting Carmela, Hilia had gained a very clear understanding of a Tier Four Mage’s vitality.
Even as a heretic, even when he’d lost his sanity, he still had tenacious life force; even in a near-death state, he could still blow the roof off the lighthouse.
And that was a heretic.
A normal Tier Four Mage would definitely be even tougher!
The light of Magic flashed non-stop, and Hilia didn’t give Galdon any chance to catch his breath.
A heavy sense of crisis enveloped Galdon’s mind.
He panicked.
"How is this possible, am I really going to die at the hands of a Tier Three Mage?"
"No, impossible!"
"I just need one opening, just one, and I can summon my Magic Puppet and take out this damned brat!"
"Damn it, damn it, damn it, give me that opening already!"
Summoning a Magic Puppet needed a bit of time—even though it was less than one second, that span was still very long in a fight. Only when both sides were at a certain distance, or at the very start of battle, or when you weren’t being controlled, could you summon it.
Obviously, Hilia would never give him that opening.
The Ice Element freeze hard control made his Magic Power circulation sluggish; even instant-cast Magic might fail, let alone a Magic Puppet summon that needed a cast time.
Puppet Storage Skill had a hand-raising motion, used to activate the storage rune in the palm and release the Magic Puppet in the Storage Space. Unless you’re a Space Mage, nobody below Tier Six can cancel that hand motion.
Hilia certainly wouldn’t give him this chance. The hand bearing the storage rune became a priority target for her—she froze the entire hand solid.
Enduring the piercing pain in his mind, Galdon forced his Spiritual Power out to transmit a message to Hilia.
"Stop, I’ll give you Gold Coins, I’ll give you 100... no, 1000 Gold Coins, I beg you, let me go."
He was a filthy rich Slave Merchant, with piles of Gold Coins he hadn’t even had time to spend. He hadn’t enjoyed life enough; he absolutely did not want to die.
Hilia stayed silent. She knew she couldn’t stop now. Verbal promises were worth shit—if she stopped, the unlucky one would be her.
The girl’s hands never ceased; her Magic Power was being rapidly consumed.
Luckily she had entered the deep Divine Realm twice; otherwise, maintaining continuous Tier Three Magic output, even with Magic Power refinement over 100%, would have been very hard.
At first, Galdon thought Hilia’s Magic attacks wouldn’t last long, but now he’d tossed that thought aside.
Feeling his own condition getting worse and worse, Galdon’s emotions surged violently.
His pleading slowly turned into fury.
"You forced me, you forced me!"
Facing a life-or-death crisis, he stopped caring about permanent damage and directly detonated all the Magic Power in his body. Just like Carmela before, he brute-forced a massive Magic Power shock, blasting away all of Hilia’s spells.
Behind him, the runes on the house flared, the whole structure shaking several times, almost getting blown apart along with it.
Hilia was also affected, retreating several steps before she could stop.
The next instant, Galdon summoned his Magic Puppet, clutching his chest as he stared coldly at Hilia.
"Is this move something every Tier Four Mage can do? That’s so shameless, right?" she grumbled to Rose in her heart.
Rose chuckled. "Wrong. This is ’Turtle Qi’ that every Mage can use—basically dumping all the Magic Power in your body in one breath, forming a Magic Power storm that disturbs the elements around you. The downside is obvious: it causes permanent damage, with consequences including but not limited to rank regression, never advancing again, permanent reduction of refinement, and so on.
"Put bluntly, this is basically a last-ditch life-or-death move. After using it, you get a brief ’invincible’ state that nullifies all spells from tiers below yours around you, giving you a short window to breathe. Not that useful—only for times when you’re controlled to the brink of death. It’s not as good as an Ice Mage’s Ice Shield."
Hilia didn’t have time to ask about Ice Shield, because right as Galdon used the last bit of his Magic Power to summon his Magic Puppet, her crisis arrived.
"Even without Magic Power to cast spells, a Tier Four Magic Puppet still has extremely high spell resistance and terrifying Attack Power. I must be careful."
Hilia thought cautiously.
She looked over at Galdon and saw him, even as he ordered the Magic Puppet to charge at her, scrambling and crawling toward the house.
Hilia looked at him and smiled lightly.
"You really think you can get inside?"
The entire house and its courtyard were covered by the Array.
Galdon had spent a hefty sum to add an extra layer of insurance to the house. The Array was very sturdy; Hilia could sense that the Array was powered by a highly potent Pure Magic Crystal.
It fully possessed the strength to withstand a Tier Four Mage.
This Array was not just a Protective Array; it was inscribed throughout the entire house and controlled everything inside.
The main door had it as well.
So—
Hilia’s heart stirred, and she immediately used the Array to lock the main door.
Galdon rushed to the door, pulled hard, but couldn’t open it.
He froze.
