Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Feed
Bang!
Bam!
The two women clashed violently, uprooting trees and tearing apart the surrounding forest.
Ronan quickly distanced himself, watching the battle from afar with awe.
He couldn’t help but wonder.
Was this the power of the Sovereign Realm?
But more importantly, Yen was a vampire and a Sovereign Realm expert, yet Hesa, who was an entire realm below her, was somehow able to keep up.
It was terrifying.
Ronan compared their stats and quickly realized that Hesa was able to hold her own primarily because of her Battle Instinct Trait.
Her adaptability was simply incredible.
However, Yen wasn’t an ordinary Sovereign Realm expert either.
She was a hybrid vampire.
And that gave her a considerable advantage.
Finally, Yen decided to fully utilize the advantage of her realm.
She burst forward with terrifying speed, grabbed Hesa by the head, and drove her knee toward her.
The attack was incredibly fast.
Yet Hesa still managed to react.
She raised both palms to block the incoming knee, but the sheer force behind the attack was still transferred into her chest.
Blood erupted from her mouth.
Her head spun violently.
Then her body collapsed forward, hitting the ground face-first.
"Master..."
Yen spoke through gritted teeth as she dragged Hesa’s battered body toward Ronan as she tried to ignore the scent of blood and her own body want.
Ronan tried to calm himself as he looked past Yen.
The surrounding forest, stretching for at least a kilometer, had been completely devastated.
Huge craters covered the ground, while deep ditches and shattered trees were scattered everywhere.
The two of them had gone all out.
But in the end, Yen’s superior attributes as a vampire had proven decisive.
"Take her with us."
"We need to find out how she knows about us."
"And the kingdom’s army should be searching for us by now."
Ronan spoke as his nervousness gradually subsided.
He removed the clothes covering his face, arms, and legs, revealing his true ghoul appearance as his voice returned to normal.
"Ah, Master, I doubt that."
"She didn’t inform anyone about us. It seems she has her own reasons."
Yen spoke as she curiously observed her master ghoul form, it was actually just a bit off from looking like a human now.
Did Master change somewhat?
Ronan was caught off guard.
Really?
So this girl had kept their secret to herself?
But why?
Ronan couldn’t help but wonder if Hesa simply thought they were spies from another kingdom and hadn’t realized that they were undead.
"Well, that’s good."
"But we can’t stay here for long."
"This commotion must have already reached Sanju City."
"Lead the way to the Javo territory."
Ronan spoke.
"Yes, Master."
"I hope you can keep up."
Yen carried Hesa over her shoulder before moving forward.
Her speed was astonishing.
However, she slowed down several times.
Compared to the speed she had displayed during her battle with Hesa, she was moving incredibly slowly now, clearly doing so to ensure Ronan could keep up.
Ronan smiled as he followed behind her.
The breeze passed over his face as he moved several meters with every stride.
He felt light.
Almost weightless.
For the first time, Ronan realized that he had never truly explored the extent of his own strength.
He had always been tense and worried about being discovered.
But now that they were heading toward the Javo Race’s territory, he could finally be himself.
Ronan clenched his fist.
After seeing how powerful Yen and Hesa were, his desire for strength burned even hotter.
The fastest way for him to grow was to hunt members of the ghoul race, upgrade his Ghoul Traits, and become stronger.
Then, once he was strong enough, he could hunt a full-blooded vampire alongside Yen.
How exciting would that be?
Well...
It wouldn’t be his first vampire kill, considering his Master, Levita.
---
Several hours later, darkness began to descend.
Ronan and Yen had traveled several hundred kilometers before they finally began to feel slightly tired.
They could still continue traveling through the night, but Ronan wanted to discuss what they should do with Hesa.
So, they decided to set up camp.
They gathered some wood, and Ronan happily started a fire.
As he watched the flames rise, he couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of accomplishment. It seemed those days as a Boy Scout hadn’t been completely useless after all.
Yen’s eyes also lit up.
The two settled beside a small cluster of rocks, where a crude cave-like formation would serve as their shelter for the night.
Yen placed Hesa’s bloodied body on the ground.
Her expression immediately became solemn.
"Master..."
"Her heartbeat..."
Yen paused.
She didn’t need to finish.
Ronan already understood.
At this rate...
Hesa might actually die tonight.
Fuck...
Ronan frowned as he examined Hesa.
If the injuries were external, they might have been able to treat them.
But these were internal injuries.
The force behind Yen’s knee had shattered Hesa’s ribs, and the broken bones had pierced her internal organs.
If Ronan wasn’t mistaken, Hesa would likely die before morning.
But Ronan couldn’t let her die.
Not yet.
After all, she seemed to have figured out their true identities while everyone else believed they were merely guests of Young Master Bama.
Either Hesa had some unique method of figuring things out...
Or she had help.
And if the latter was true, then it meant that Ronan and Yen’s identities might already be known to other people.
But then Ronan chuckled.
Why should he even care?
Whether he had been exposed or not didn’t matter anymore.
His Maiden persona was useless now.
He was returning to the Abyss to become stronger.
Yes, even in the Abyss, being marked as a runaway slave meant that the moment Abyssal creatures recognized him, they would try to kill him.
But that actually made things easier for Ronan.
He could simply kill them without worrying about breaking any codes or rules created by the higher-ups of the Abyss.
"Yen..."
"Maybe you should feed on her blood."
"She might be the last human we see before we enter the Abyss."
Ronan suggested.
Yen pondered his words for a moment before nodding.
Her Master was right.
She was already feeling hungry.
Feeding one more time would at least make things easier for her over the next few weeks.
Yen crouched beside the bloodied Hesa.
She gently brushed her fingers across Hesa’s neck.
Her crimson eyes appeared.
The restraint she had placed on her vampire instincts slowly began to disappear.
Yen almost lost her ability to reason as she stopped holding herself back.
The sweet scent of blood filled her nostrils.
Four sharp fangs emerged from her mouth.
She opened her mouth wide and lowered her head.
Then...
Just as her fangs were about to sink into Hesa’s neck...
She stopped.
A cold, dark pupil was staring directly at her.
Hesa...
Had awakened.
