~NOTE: There’s no forced sex~

"Unexpected of you to come home this early. Why? Wasn’t he at work today?" Dave asked.

His words were slurred only slightly, despite how much alcohol he had clearly consumed, but that wasn’t what caught Bryce’s attention.

It was the word ’he’.

Bryce stopped several steps inside the room.

"What are you talking about?"

He closed the door behind him cautiously, his senses already warning him that something was wrong.

"Who was the man you slept with that day?"

The question came without hesitation, catching Bryce completely off guard. But almost immediately, he connected it to Dave’s first question, and the realization struck with such force that it left him momentarily speechless.

Dave had found out.

He had finally discovered who Bryce had been with that night.

Bryce could hardly believe Dave had been searching for the man after telling him they were even and that the matter should end there.

If Dave had truly meant to leave it behind, why was he still looking for him? What exactly was he planning to do once he found the man?

"You’ve been searching for him?" The question escaped Bryce before he could stop himself.

"I just wanted to make sure it doesn’t happen again. How many times have I told you that you’re addictive?" Dave said without the slightest trace of shame. "Once someone lays a finger on you, I’m sure they won’t simply go back to their normal life. They’ll come back."

"I’m not doing this with you right now." Bryce turned toward the bedroom. "If you want me to forget what you did to me, then stop dragging things like this back into our lives. You were the one who said we should forget about it because we’re even."

He entered the bedroom and slammed the door behind him, intentionally allowing the sound to speak for the anger he refused to show on his face.

He stood there for a moment, breathing deeply.

Dave knew.

The thought kept circling through his mind.

Would he confront Vincent?

For a fleeting moment, Bryce wondered whether that might actually work in his favor. If Dave and Vincent became occupied with each other, if they were too consumed by their own conflict to keep watching Bryce, he might finally find an opening to disappear.

The bedroom door suddenly flew open with the same unnecessary force Bryce had used when closing it.

Bryce turned.

Dave stood there.

"Even from here, I can smell that same perfume you came home with that night," Dave yelled, advancing toward him. "You smell like it right now."

Bryce instinctively stepped backward.

"Tell me, Bryce. How did you get that job at LuminousL? Was it by spreading your legs for someone’s husband? You wanted to leave me because I cheated on you, but you’re out there sleeping with someone’s husband? You don’t even give a damn that he’s married!"

Bryce’s expression hardened with anger.

"You don’t know anything, so stop talking about things you know nothing about."

But Dave was no longer listening.

"The reason you leave home every morning, so early, is because of him, isn’t it? You’ve been seeing him again. You’ve been sleeping with him, even at..."

"Stop!"

The word tore from Bryce with unexpected force.

"You..."

Before he could finish speaking, Dave crossed the remaining distance in a sudden movement, caught him, and dragged him toward the bed.

Bryce barely had time to react before Dave forced him down and climbed over him, pinning his hands at either side.

Bryce struggled immediately.

"Get off me you fucking psychopath!"

He fought against Dave with everything he had, twisting beneath him and trying to wrench his hands free, but the strength in Dave’s body was frightening.

Bryce reached instinctively for the strength he had relied upon since discovering what he was, desperately trying to summon it.

But nothing came this time.

His body felt strangely depleted.

"I’ve been here for hours since my men told me they finally found the man." Dave’s voice had dropped, but the anger beneath it remained thick.

"And all I could do was blame myself. Maybe I neglected you. Maybe I kept telling myself I’d wait for your consent, convinced that giving you time was the right thing to do, while you were waiting for me to make a move."

Bryce stared at him in disbelief.

Dave’s expression twisted.

"And now, because I couldn’t give you what I should have, you decided to seek it somewhere else. You went back to that bastard. Fine. I won’t blame you for that. It’s actually my fault."

He leaned closer.

"And today I’m going to make sure you don’t think about seeing him again."

Bryce’s stomach tightened.

"And even if you wanted to see him after today, you won’t, because you’ve just thrown away your only chance of ever leaving this house again."

He leaned down, attempting to kiss Bryce, but Bryce immediately turned his face away, Dave’s lips landing against his cheek instead.

Furious, Dave ripped the buttons from Bryce’s shirt and used the torn fabric to bind his hands.

"You fucking sick fuck! Let go of me!"

Bryce fought again, but Dave’s strength remained overwhelming. His arms, his legs, his entire body seemed incapable of breaking free from the hold.

Dave moved back until he was sitting on Bryce’s legs, his expression darkening when he noticed Bryce’s arousal.

"You’re hard. Is it for him? Or is it for me?"

Bryce’s face burned with fury. "You’re forcing yourself on me. How could that possibly turn me on?"

Dave’s anger intensified at the words. He leaned down and pressed rough kisses against Bryce’s chest, only to recoil almost immediately, as though the contact had scalded him.

"You reek of him."

The words came through clenched teeth, thick with fury and something darker.

His arms tightened around Bryce as jealousy and anger twisted together in his expression. He pulled Bryce from the bed and dragged him toward the bathroom.

Bryce stumbled after him, barely able to keep his balance.

Dave shoved him beneath the shower and turned the water on.

Cold water struck Bryce’s skin. Dave stepped into the shower after him, the water soaking his clothes and hair.

Bryce could feel him behind him, his breathing heavy, his anger still radiating from him.

Bryce recoiled.

"Dave, stop."

But Dave did not stop. He kept Bryce restrained with one hand as he stripped off his own pants and briefs, before pressing his body against Bryce’s again.

Bryce felt the heat of Dave’s throbbing erection pressed against him.

"If you do this," Bryce said, forcing the words through a trembling voice, "just know that I’ll never forgive you for what you did to me in the past, and I’ll never forgive you for what you’re about to do to me."

Dave seemed not to hear him.

"I’ll never forgive you for this, you fucking psycho! You claim to love me, but is this how you treat someone you love?"

Bryce’s voice cracked.

"Don’t use that against me." Dave’s voice was strained. "You’ve been seeing another man behind my back."

"I’ve never slept with him again since that first time," Bryce said immediately. "And I didn’t sleep with him to get the job there, nor did I ever plan for it to happen. It just happened out of the blue."

"Then why do you smell like him right now?"

Dave’s voice rose again.

"Why are you aroused after coming from where he is? Do you take me for a fool?"

Bryce didn’t answer.

Instead, he changed the subject.

"I was starting to reconsider everything you’ve told me. I was actually beginning to believe that maybe you really did start loving me for who I am."

His voice trembled, but he forced himself to continue.

"But if you force yourself on me today, understand that you’ll have destroyed whatever was left between us."

The words hung between them.

"You’ll have taken away everything we’ve ever had."

Dave stopped moving, but he didn’t release Bryce immediately.

For several seconds, his arms remained around him, his chest rising and falling heavily against his back.

Something warm fell onto Bryce’s shoulder.

A tear.

Bryce froze, his mind refusing to comprehend what he had just felt.

Dave trembled behind him.

Slowly, almost painfully, his grip loosened.

He released Bryce and stepped away. Without saying a word, he left the bathroom.

The door closed behind him.

Bryce remained in the bathroom, completely motionless, as the last of the strength keeping him upright finally gave out.

A heavy breath escaped him, his knees buckling beneath him.

He collapsed onto the floor, landing hard on his knees beneath the shower as water continued to pour over him.
