We continued exploring the forest.
Not long afterward...
I suddenly spotted something unusual.
I blinked once.
Then twice.
The words escaped my mouth before I could stop them.
"...A rhino."
Luna looked toward the creature.
"...It really is a rhino."
Elara also turned toward it.
She immediately drew her sword and prepared herself for a fight.
I quickly raised a hand.
"Wait."
"Let’s see whether it’s hostile or peaceful first."
"Don’t be a savage killer."
Luna and Elara both stared at me.
Then they looked at each other.
"Are you seriously saying that?"
"You’re the last person who should be talking about that."
I shrugged.
"I only kill things that attack me or try to kill me."
"I don’t randomly kill beasts that haven’t done anything to me."
They both looked at me skeptically.
Still, they eventually nodded.
We slowly approached the rhino.
Fortunately, it didn’t seem interested in us.
It was busy eating and looked almost as though it was about to fall asleep.
We carefully moved around it without disturbing its rest.
Up close, I could clearly see its thick armor-like hide.
It had two horns growing from its head.
One was significantly larger than the other.
We observed it for a while without disturbing it.
There was no reason to fight a sleeping beast that hadn’t even shown any hostility toward us.
As we continued looking around, we noticed several bushes filled with berries.
None of us bothered picking them.
We didn’t need them.
After all, I already had more than enough food stored away.
So we simply left the rhino alone and continued exploring.
As we traveled deeper into the forest, we discovered several large sources of water.
We also encountered many harmless animals.
Deer.
Rabbits.
And several other creatures I’d never seen before.
At one point, Luna suddenly spotted a rabbit.
Her eyes lit up.
She slowly approached it.
The rabbit immediately noticed her and hid.
Luna stopped.
Then she carefully moved closer again.
This time, she managed to catch it.
She gently held the rabbit in her arms and patted its fur.
A bright smile appeared on her face.
Then she looked toward me.
"Do you have any rabbit food?"
I blinked.
"..."
"What do you think I am?"
"I only carry things I actually need."
"I don’t have animal food."
Luna laughed softly.
"Then go find something for it."
I stared at her.
"Why should I?"
She looked at me.
Then she smiled.
"Please?"
I immediately sighed.
"...Fine."
I turned around and began looking through my Space Storage.
Then I remembered something.
’Wait.’
’Rabbits eat carrots.’
I pulled out a carrot and handed it to Luna.
She blinked.
"Didn’t you just say you didn’t have any animal food?"
I shrugged.
"I like cooking."
"So I have some cooking ingredients."
"I forgot rabbits liked carrots."
Luna nodded happily.
She took the carrot and fed it to the rabbit.
The rabbit immediately began nibbling on it.
Elara stood beside Luna and watched the scene with a small smile.
I simply stood there and watched them.
After a while, Luna gently released the rabbit.
It immediately hopped away and disappeared into the bushes.
We continued our exploration.
Fortunately...
No more Alien Beasts appeared.
Eventually, however...
The old man appeared in front of us.
I instinctively pointed at him.
"Hey, the old man is here."
A massive black line appeared across his forehead.
Luna and Elara immediately covered their mouths, trying to suppress their laughter.
The instructor slowly turned toward me.
"Hey, brat."
"When did I become old?"
"It wasn’t bad enough that you turned wilderness survival into a picnic..."
"Now you’re pointing at me and calling me an old man?"
I immediately changed my tone.
"Oh, I didn’t mean to."
"It just came naturally."
"I hope Instructor doesn’t mind."
His eye twitched.
"I do mind, brat."
"When you call me an old man, I mind very much."
I shrugged.
"Oh, sorry."
"I didn’t realize."
"After all..."
"You are quite old."
Luna’s shoulders began shaking violently as she desperately tried to contain her laughter.
Elara wasn’t doing much better.
The instructor stared at me for several seconds.
Then he slowly took a deep breath.
"Brat..."
"Next time you call me an old man..."
"Prepare to be punished."
He turned around and began walking away.
"Follow me."
"Today’s training is over."
"We’ll go get the other two."
We nodded and followed him.
Along the way, I took out some snacks from my Space Storage and distributed them to Luna and Elara.
We happily ate while walking.
The instructor’s eye twitched when he noticed.
"Didn’t you have enough to eat?"
"I watched you eating at least four times today."
I smiled.
"Somehow, I need to finish the food in my storage."
"There are thousands of snacks in there."
"And plenty of other food too."
The instructor went silent.
He simply continued walking.
I wasn’t sure whether he had given up arguing with me or was questioning his life choices.
Eventually, we arrived at the location where Chloe and Eithen had been staying.
A campfire had been prepared.
Chloe was cooking wolf meat over the fire while Eithen sat nearby.
The instructor glanced at their camp before looking at me.
"See that, brat?"
"That is how you’re supposed to survive in the wilderness."
"Not by turning the entire training session into a picnic."
I gave him an awkward smile.
"Ah..."
"But I prefer how I spent my time."
Luna and Elara looked between me and the instructor.
Both seemed to agree that I was hopeless.
Chloe noticed our arrival and immediately walked over.
Eithen followed behind her.
The two of them looked at Luna and me eating snacks before glancing toward the wolf meat Chloe had prepared.
Eithen then looked toward the instructor.
"Instructor..."
"Can you give us some food too?"
The instructor seemed to remember something.
"Oh, right."
He reached into his storage and took out everyone’s Space Rings.
He handed them back to us.
Luna immediately put hers back on and stored her sword inside.
Eithen did the same before checking his supplies.
His expression quickly became complicated.
There was some food inside...
But nowhere near the ridiculous amount I had stored.
He eventually took some out and began eating.
The instructor looked at all of us.
"Alright."
"Today’s training is officially over."
"I observed all of you throughout the day."
"And I’m quite satisfied with your performance."
He turned around.
"Let’s return."
We followed him back.
Along the way, I talked with Luna.
She smiled brightly throughout the entire journey.
Eithen and Chloe walked together and talked among themselves, while Elara occasionally joined our conversation.
Eventually, we arrived back at the Imperial Palace.
We stepped down from the carriage.
The instructor said his farewell before leaving.
Luna and I then turned toward Elara.
"See you later, Elara."
She smiled and waved.
"See you both at dinner."
After Elara left, Luna turned toward me.
"So..."
"What are you going to do now?"
I pretended to think seriously.
"I have something rather important to do."
"So I have to go now."
"See you at dinner."
Luna nodded.
Then curiosity immediately appeared in her eyes.
"Can you tell me what that important thing is?"
"If you don’t mind."
She was genuinely curious now.
I looked at her.
How could I possibly say no to that expression?
I nodded.
"Alright."
"First, I’ll return to my room."
"Then I’ll take a shower."
Luna nodded eagerly.
She had no idea what kind of important task I could possibly be planning.
I paused for dramatic effect.
"Then..."
"The most important part."
Luna waited patiently.
I smiled.
"Then..."
"I’m going to sleep."
Luna blinked.
Once.
Twice.
She stared at me in complete confusion.
"...That’s it?"
I nodded.
"That’s it."
She frowned.
"But what’s the important thing?"
I looked at her as though she had just asked the most ridiculous question imaginable.
"Of course it’s sleeping."
"What could possibly be more important than a good night’s sleep?"
A black line appeared across Luna’s forehead.
She clearly had a long list of things she considered more important.
But apparently...
I had just decided that sleep was the most important thing in existence.
"You..."
Luna immediately raised her hand and started punching me repeatedly.
I quickly ran away while pretending to be hurt.
"Hey!"
"I didn’t lie to you!"
"What could possibly be more important than a good sleep?"
"You wouldn’t understand..."
"You evil princess who always resorts to violence!"
The more I talked...
The angrier she became.
"You’re dead today!"
I immediately sprinted toward my room.
I reached the door, opened it, slipped inside, and quickly closed it behind me.
"One day, you’ll understand."
"But it won’t be today."
"So..."
"Good night!"
I could hear Luna stomping her foot outside.
She huffed angrily before finally leaving.
Yet...
A small smile remained on her face.
Despite all the teasing and arguments...
She genuinely enjoyed the time she spent with me.
I looked around my room.
Then I let out a small laugh.
"She’s still angry."
I quickly took a shower and changed into some clean clothes.
Afterward, I jumped onto my bed.
I grabbed a pillow, hugged it tightly, and closed my eyes.
Within moments...
I fell into a deep sleep.
