The Extra who regained his past life memories
Chapter 3 Sorted through my memoryAfter Mother and Amy left, silence once again filled the room.
I waited until the door closed completely before releasing a long breath.
"...Finally."
Until now, I had been suppressing the flood of memories inside my mind.
I didn’t want Mother or Amy to see me in pain or worry about me any more than they already had.
But now that I was alone...
I no longer needed to hold back.
I closed my eyes.
The memories I had forcefully pushed aside surged back into my mind like a broken dam.
Scenes from another lifetime flashed before my eyes one after another.
A small apartment.
A lonely birthday.
School.
The truck.
Countless books...
Among all those memories, one stood above the rest.
A novel.
A fantasy novel I had spent countless nights reading.
At first, I thought it was just another memory from my previous life.
But as I compared those memories with my current life...
My expression slowly froze.
"...No way."
I immediately searched through Gray’s memories.
The Starlight family.
Mother.
Amy.
Their names.
Their appearances.
Even this world’s history...
Everything matched.
"...This world..."
My heartbeat quickened.
"...It’s the world from that novel."
Cold sweat ran down my back.
If my memories were correct...
Then this peaceful world I was living in...
Would eventually become a battlefield where countless races invaded, kingdoms fell, and millions lost their lives.
And the Starlight family...
Was deeply involved in that future.
I clenched my fists.
"...I need to remember everything."
"If this really is that world..."
"Then those memories may become my greatest advantage."
I frowned as I searched through the memories of my previous life.
But no matter how hard I tried...
Only fragments remained.
"I can’t remember everything..."
I could only recall vague impressions.
There was a protagonist who eventually rose to the pinnacle of the world.
He encountered countless opportunities, inherited powerful legacies, and was surrounded by beautiful women.
"...A harem."
I let out a helpless sigh.
"I still don’t know why I even read a harem novel."
I paused for a moment before shaking my head.
"No... that’s not right."
"I didn’t read it because of the protagonist."
"I read it because the world itself fascinated me."
The novel was a strange combination of fantasy and advanced technology.
Ancient civilizations existed alongside inventions that surpassed anything from my previous world.
VR pods.
Holographic watches.
Technology that seemed impossible.
At the same time...
There were mysterious dungeons, magical beasts, ancient ruins, and powerful races beyond humanity.
Some things from my previous world didn’t exist here at all.
Others had developed in completely different directions.
It was a world unlike anything I had ever known.
That was what kept me turning the pages.
The mysteries hidden beneath the surface.
The forgotten history of the world.
The invading races.
The secrets buried within ancient civilizations.
Those were the reasons I continued reading.
As for the protagonist’s romance...
I had skipped more than a few Chapters.
I rubbed my forehead.
"Unfortunately..."
"I can’t remember the details anymore."
"It’s been years since I read that novel."
Most of what remained were nothing more than scattered fragments and vague impressions.
Trying to force myself to remember would only give me another headache.
Besides...
Relying too much on incomplete memories could easily lead me to make the wrong decisions.
I slowly released a breath.
"It doesn’t matter."
"If those memories are still somewhere inside my mind..."
"I’ll remember them eventually."
"For now..."
"There’s no point forcing it."
"I’ll think about it later."
A few minutes later, the door opened.
Amy entered with her usual cheerful smile, followed by several maids carrying trays filled with food.
The delicious aroma immediately filled the room.
"Gray!"
She walked straight toward me and sat beside my bed.
"Today’s your favorite," she said happily. "Come on, let’s eat. You must be starving after not eating for two days."
Without waiting for my reply, she picked up a plate and carefully served me herself, making sure to choose all my favorite dishes.
Only after placing it in front of me did she turn toward the maids.
"You may leave."
The maids bowed respectfully before quietly leaving the room, leaving only the two of us.
I smiled faintly.
"Thanks, Sis."
She smiled back.
"Now eat."
I didn’t need to be told twice.
The moment I took the first bite, I realized just how hungry I truly was.
The food disappeared from my plate at an alarming speed.
Amy barely touched her own meal.
Instead, she rested her chin on one hand and watched me eat with an amused smile.
Just as I reached for another serving—
Tap.
She lightly flicked my forehead.
"Ow."
I rubbed the spot and looked at her in confusion.
"What was that for?"
Amy crossed her arms.
"You little glutton."
"You haven’t eaten anything for two whole days."
"If you suddenly stuff yourself full, your stomach will hurt."
"Start with something light first."
"Don’t eat like your usual greedy self."
I immediately protested.
"Hey!"
"You’re the glutton, not me."
"I always eat a normal amount."
I pointed at her dramatically.
"Unlike someone who eats like a starving ghost every single meal."
Amy’s eyebrow twitched.
"Oh?"
She leaned closer with a dangerous smile.
"Would you like to repeat that?"
Cold sweat instantly formed on my forehead.
"...On second thought..."
"I may have exaggerated a little."
She narrowed her eyes.
"A little?"
I smiled innocently.
"Maybe a tiny bit."
For a moment, we simply stared at each other.
Then Amy burst into laughter.
"You really never learn, do you?"
I grinned.
We continued eating together.
Remembering Amy’s warning, I started with smaller portions, giving my stomach time to adjust.
Only after a while did I gradually return to eating normally.
Throughout the entire meal, Amy barely touched her own food.
Instead, she quietly watched me eat, taking only a few small bites every now and then.
Eventually, I noticed her gaze and looked up.
"...Sis?"
"Hm?"
"Why do you keep staring at me instead of eating?"
Amy blinked before a gentle smile spread across her face.
"Because you’re too cute."
I nearly choked on my food.
"W-What?"
She giggled softly.
"I said you’re cute."
I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly.
"Ah... don’t tease me."
"I’m serious."
She smiled warmly.
"I’m not teasing you at all."
"My little brother is genuinely adorable."
My face immediately grew warm.
"Sis..."
"What?"
"You’re embarrassing me."
Amy couldn’t help but laugh.
"There it is."
"The shy little Gray I know."
She reached over and gently ruffled my hair.
"I’ve always thought you were cute."
"You’ve just never believed me."
I let out a helpless sigh.
"I think you’re the only person in the world who says that."
Amy smiled proudly.
"Then I’ll keep saying it until you accept it."
I shook my head with a defeated smile and continued eating.
Watching my reaction, Amy finally picked up her own food and resumed her meal.
The smile on her face never faded.
