Azriel stared at her, his jaw practically hitting the silk sheets.

"Your what?!" Azriel sputtered, his violet eyes wide with absolute disbelief.

"Wait, wait, wait, hold the damn phone! How the hell do you have a daughter?! Rose, when we fucked for the first time, you were literally a virgin! I know for a fact I was your first!"

Rosalind’s face flushed an incandescent crimson, the high-and-mighty Matriarch instantly reduced to a stammering, embarrassed mess under his intense stare.

Her white cat ears twitched frantically, flattening completely against her silver-white hair.

"I—I mean... it’s not... she’s not—" Rosalind stutters, her usual regal posture completely breaking down as she waved her hands in panic.

"She isn’t my biological daughter! I didn’t give birth to her!"

"Then why did you say she’s your daughter?!" Azriel pressed, raising an eyebrow, though a small, amused smirk was already beginning to fight its way onto his lips.

Rosalind took a deep, shuddering breath, trying desperately to regain her composure while avoiding Vesperia’s thoroughly amused, cackling gaze from the doorway.

"I... I adopted her years ago," Rosalind muttered softly, her golden eyes timidly meeting Azriel’s.

"Her biological parents were high-ranking elders of the House of Bastet who fell in battle during a realm rift breach. She was just an infant... so I took her in and raised her under my name. Even if we don’t share blood, I treat her as my own daughter, and she is set to inherit the House of Bastet in the future."

Azriel let out a long breath, rubbing his temples as the initial shock subsided, replaced by the sheer absurdity of the situation.

[LIVE CHAT]

[Sadistic69] (Red): AZRIEL THOUGHT HE GOT DUPED FOR A SECOND! THE LOOK ON HIS FACE WAS PRICELESS!

[Nine_Tailed_Vixen] (Cyan): Look at Rose stammering! The feared GrandMaster getting completely flustered explaining her adopted daughter to her young lover! I love this drama so much!

[Lusty_Sera] (Golden): So... Azriel is technically going to be the step-father to the future Matriarch? Oh, the dynamic is about to get delightfully chaotic!

[Boundless_Slacker] (Red): Azriel flexing that he was her first in front of her mother is peak audacity.

[Moon_Priestess_99] (Cyan): Stepdaddy... hehehehe

Azriel let out a long, exhaled sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose as the absurd tension in his chest eased up.

"Okay... okay, adopted. That makes a whole lot more sense," Azriel muttered under his breath.

Then, pausing, he looked at her with genuine curiosity.

"Wait, if you have an adopted daughter who’s inheriting the estate, why haven’t I seen her even once since I got here? Where is she? And what did your mother mean by me becoming her ’partner’?"

Rosalind smoothed down her ruffled silver hair, attempting to reclaim her usual regal composure, though the lingering blush on her cheeks ruined the effect entirely.

"She isn’t here because she is currently training outside the territory," Rosalind explained, her tone softening.

"She entered a E-rank dungeon to push her limits and break through to the Adept stage. She should be returning within a month."

When it came to the second part of his question, however, Rosalind went completely still.

Rosalind bit her lower lip, visibly struggling with her own internal thoughts. It looked as though every word she was about to say was being dragged out of her against her absolute will.

"As for the partner arrangement..." Rosalind began slowly, avoiding his gaze.

"The assassination attempt that took place last night... it was orchestrated by an Overlord or Sovereign-level faction. You already realized that from our earlier conversation, correct?"

Azriel nodded silently. The weight of an Overlord-level memory-seal exploding in front of Vesperia was hard to forget.

"They likely caught wind of your true potential," Rosalind continued, her voice turning grave.

"Which means their objective is crystal clear, they will either attempt to subjugate you and use you as a tool... or they will move to eliminate you entirely before you can mature."

"Wait a minute, kill me?!" Azriel blurted out, throwing his hands up in utter disbelief.

"Like... what the hell did I even do to them?! I’ve literally been minding my own business!"

Vesperia, who had been quietly watching the exchange with a amused grin, leaned heavily on her walking cane and let out a dry, raspy chuckle.

"You didn’t have to do anything, boy," Vesperia chimed in, her golden eyes glinting with ruthless, pragmatic wisdom.

"Your existence alone is the crime. In this world, women hold the supreme reins of power and rule over men. Suddenly, a man appears who possesses an S-rank Class and an SSS+ potential bloodline, a man who could one day grow strong enough to tear down the entire established order. Tell me, young man... what do you think the matriarchs who rule Tartarus will do when they see a threat like that on the horizon?"

Azriel swallowed hard, a sudden chill creeping down his throat as the brutal reality of this world settled in.

"...They’ll kill me," Azriel said, his voice dropping into a quiet, heavy tone.

He shifted his gaze between the two women, searching their faces. "Then what about you two? If I’m such a threat to the status quo, why aren’t you trying to eliminate me?"

Vesperia let out a low, raspy chuckle, leaning lazily on her walking cane. "A truly powerful figure doesn’t fear someone else’s potential, boy. And even if they did, I personally don’t care who rules this world—man or woman—so long as they possess the absolute strength to back it up."

’Damn... such a forward-thinking mindset in this completely backward, matriarchal society,’ Azriel thought, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. ’I can definitely respect an old monster like her.’

"Besides," Vesperia added, her golden eyes glinting with a mischievous sparkle, "how could I possibly kill my own daughter’s lover?"

Rosalind’s breath hitched, a soft, radiant smile breaking across her face as her cat ears twitched at her mother’s words.

Seeing his deadly, high-born woman blushing like a timid girl right in front of her mother was too tempting to resist. Azriel leaned over without a second thought and planted a firm, affectionate kiss right on her flushed cheek.

"Azriel!" Rosalind squeaked, her face burning a deep crimson as she flustered completely, bringing up a soft fist to lightly tap his bare chest in mock protest.

Watching the exchange, Vesperia’s grin widened into a sharp, knowing smirk.

’She’s fallen far too deep,’ Vesperia thought, amused by the sight.

’The feared Crimson Duchess of the East doesn’t even realize how completely submissive she’s become to this boy.’
