The Five Evolution

Chapter 123: Tyrant Sex (II).

『"Don’t hold back."』

Ethan kept moving through the waves of her release, but as her body’s quivering began to soften and her trembling beneath him calmed a bit, he slowed.

His thrusts grew gentler, more deliberate, until he was barely rocking inside her. Then he brushed a damp loc of hair from her face. "So that’s what it looks like."

"What?" she asked as she rested an arm over her forehead, her chest rising and falling with each breath.

"Some part of me always imagined what your face would look like during an orgasm," he murmured with a grin.

Amara, still breathing hard, lifted an eyebrow at him. "You imagined?" A breathless smile tugged at her lips. "Is that the line you use for all the girls you sleep with?"

"Beautiful," Ethan said simply, the word carrying quiet reverence. "You’re beautiful, Amara."

Amara’s cheeks flushed hotter. She smiled up at him, still catching her breath, and reached up to trace his jaw.

The third bar should have made him feel farther away, more powerful. Instead it had the opposite effect. She felt closer to him in this moment, and it wasn’t just the sex.

He leaned down and kissed her slowly. Their lips moved together in a lingering caress, and their tongues brushed softly, easing into something sweeter.

Eventually, Ethan slowly slipped out of her, and Amara’s body shuddered in the process. He pulled back just enough to meet her gaze again as a quiet, heated question lingered in his eyes.

Amara answered by shifting beneath him, turning onto her side, and he understood at once.

With careful movements, mindful of his ribs, he eased out of her completely and settled behind her, drawing her back against his chest in a spooning embrace.

The new position wrapped her in his warmth as his body curved protectively around hers. Then he slid back into her from behind, slower this time, the angle allowing a different kind of depth.

Amara sighed softly at the feeling of him filling her again as one of his arms banded across her chest, cupping and holding her breasts possessively.

The warmth of his palm grounding her as he began to move.

Gradually, the rhythm built with steady thrusts that rocked them both sideways on the bed.

Amara pressed back against him, meeting each motion, her body molding perfectly to his as she turned her head and threw it back to find his mouth.

Their kiss was awkward and breathless at first, then deeper as they adjusted, tongues tangling while he continued moving in and out of her.

Amara’s walls crumbled. The careful control she maintained, all of it dissolved under Ethan’s touch, leaving only the raw truth: she was scared and in love.

They moved together with increasing pace, finding their rhythm, and whispering things between gasps that might have been embarrassing in any other context but right now felt exactly right.

"Don’t stop—"

"Like that?"

"God, yes, exactly—"

"Fuck, you’re perfect," Ethan whispered against her lips, his voice low and strained with building pleasure.

His hand gently kneaded her breasts, thumb brushing over her nipples. "Amara..."

Amara reached back, threading her fingers through his hair again. She could feel him throbbing harder inside her.

"I’m so close," she breathed. "I want to feel it. I want to feel you let go."

The words seemed to ignite something in him.

His pace quickened, hips pounding harder with more purpose as each thrust sent fresh sparks of pleasure radiating through her core.

Their bodies moved together in a heated rhythm—skin against skin, breath mingling, hearts pounding in sync.

Then Ethan’s grip on her tightened, burying his face in the curve of her neck as low groans escaped him.

"Oh god," she gasped. "Ethan, I..."

The tension coiled inside her once more, faster this time, fueled by the closeness, the way his length stroked her so perfectly from this angle.

Her breaths grew shaky again, turning into soft moans and whimpers that he swallowed with another fervent kiss.

When the peak finally crashed over her, Amara cried out against his mouth, and her body clenched rhythmically around him.

The intensity pulled Ethan right over the edge with her. He groaned deeply, burying himself to the hilt as he found his own release, hips stuttering against hers while waves of pleasure claimed them both.

In that moment, both their Sigils lit up, burning bright orange with a searing sound.

His arm stayed locked around her, holding her close as they rode it out together, trembling, breathless, and tangled together in the aftermath.

For a long moment, neither moved. Just lay there breathing hard, hearts gradually slowing, consciousness returning in pieces.

Ethan shifted carefully, pulling away enough to dispose of the condom before settling back beside her, one arm across her waist in a gesture that was both possessive and protective.

"So," Amara said into the quiet, chest still heaving. "Tyrant, huh?"

His laugh was exhausted and happy. "Shut up."

"Just saying..." she took deep breaths. "Impressive stamina for someone with broken ribs."

"I was highly motivated." He pressed a kiss to her shoulder.

She turned in his arms, finding his eyes in the dim light. "How bad are the ribs, actually?"

"Definitely broken." He said it like it didn’t matter. "I’ll get medical to look at them tomorrow. Right now I’m exactly where I want to be."

After a while, the faint stickiness of sweat and exertion made itself known. "Shower?" Amara suggested. Ethan nodded and helped her up.

In the bathroom, steam soon filled the air as hot water cascaded over them. They stood under the spray together, bodies pressed close.

Amara’s gaze drifted to his sigil again and she ran her fingers across it gently.

Ethan planted a kiss on her shoulder. "You keep staring."

Amara smiled, still caressing it. "How does it feel?"

"I’m not sure." He ran a hand through his damp hair. "It doesn’t feel any different from when I became a Shaper. But, it also feels incomplete?"

Amara stepped out of the shower first, wrapping a towel around her body. "Incomplete..." she repeated as she dried off her hair, then headed into the closet.

"Yeah." Ethan stepped out a moment later and reached for a towel. He dried his hair first, then rubbed it across his shoulders and chest before heading back into the room to find his clothes.

Once he found them, he just stood over them, deep in thought.

Amara noticed the silence. "What is it?" she asked from inside her closet.

"I have this strange feeling that I’m going to see him there." He reached for his boxers and pulled them on before stepping into a pair of loose pants.

"At the Convergence?" Amara asked as she emerged in shorts and a black sports bra.

He sat at the edge of the bed. "It’s like the stronger I get, the stronger a connection I have to him."

Amara walked over, standing between his knees, and Ethan looked up.

"I’m going to be there with you," she said. "And if anyone is coming after you, they’re going to have to get through me first."

Ethan’s arms wrapped around her waist, holding her there for a moment before finally standing. "The Apostles don’t stand a chance." He smiled.

Eventually, they returned to the bed, slipping under fresh sheets.

Ethan pulled her against him once more, her back to his chest, and his arm draped securely around her hips.

Amara partially turned her head to study his face. She could see the satisfaction, contentment, and absence of his usual emotional barriers. "You’re different," she observed. "More... here."

"Because I am." His hand traced patterns on her back. "I spent so long being what everyone needed me to be."

Amara adjusted, no longer looking at his face. She just lay next to him, listening, while rubbing circles around his arm with her thumb.

Ethan sighed and continued. "The Director’s protégé. The Shield. The one meant to protect everyone else. But with you—" He paused, searching for words. "With you I can just be Ethan."

She pulled up his arm from her hips and kissed it. "We should sleep," she said quietly. "Two days until the Convergence, and we’re both exhausted."

"In a minute." He pulled her closer, tangling their legs together as they both hovered in the space between awake and asleep.

Chapter 122–123 Summary (For readers who skipped the explicit scene):

Immediately after Ethan’s rank-up to Tyrant, in the aftermath of the training simulation, both he and Amara are high on adrenaline, pride, and relief from his successful advancement.

The chamber is quiet; it’s just the two of them, alone at 2 AM, and Amara and Ethan finally act on the tension that’s been building between them. After a charged exchange where Amara teases him about his new rank ("Want to show me what that actually means?"), Ethan carries her through the empty Institute corridors to her room, openly unconcerned about who might see them.

Despite his broken ribs, he’s determined, telling Amara he’s spent his whole life doing what he should do, and for once he wants what he wants. She consents fully; they both acknowledge this is a deliberate choice, not an impulsive mistake.

In her room, they undress each other with a mix of urgency and tenderness. Amara is careful with his injuries; Ethan is reverent, as if memorizing every detail. When they’re finally together, he tells her he loves her for the first time, admitting he gave her a hard time about it because he wasn’t ready to face his own feelings. She reciprocates.

The scene is physically intense but emotionally raw. Amara takes control at points, refusing to let him hold back. They use protection (which Amara had prepared in her nightstand from their last interrupted encounter). During the act, both their Ascendant Sigils activate and glow—first Amara’s, then both simultaneously, burning bright orange with a searing sound. The Sigil reaction is tied to their emotional spikes, suggesting a deep resonance between their powers and their connection.

Afterward, in the shower, they discuss his new rank. Ethan describes the Tyrant advancement as feeling "incomplete"—not different from when he became a Shaper, but unfinished, as if there’s more to come. He also confides a growing intuition, that the stronger he becomes, the stronger his connection to his brother. He believes he’ll encounter Michael at the upcoming convergence.

Amara promises to stand with him. Ethan reflects that with her, he doesn’t have to be the Director’s protégé, the Shield, or anyone’s protector—he can just be himself. They fall asleep tangled together, reminded of the fact that it’s two days before the Convergence.
