Felix went quiet for a while, and Rian already knew that he was trying to process what the hell was even happening right now.

He could tell countless excuses and explanations passed through his mind in just the blink of an eye.

But after a moment, it seemed like Felix had abandoned trying to explain how Rian was alive, but the fact that he was at all. In other words...

He doubled down.

"Hah..." A quiet laugh escaped him. "Now I understand."

He turned to face everyone, who had pretty much left him standing alone on an island, waiting to see what the middle child of Rosenheim was going to say.

"That explains why we couldn’t find the Ambrosia reserved for tonight’s guests." Felix pointed accusingly at Rian. "Our dear youngest brother stole one of House Rosenheim’s most valuable relics for himself!"

"Ambrosia?" Rian repeated.

"Don’t play ignorant now!" Felix snapped. "It disappeared from Mother’s private chambers shortly before your miraculous recovery!"

The crowd went silent, as frankly, there was too much going on. First of Edwin being an assassin, then of Rian’s survival, and now of his accusation.

But Rian didn’t particularly mind this accusation, even deciding to come clean. "Yes. I was the one who stole it."

"You see everyone! He clearly admitted to—"

"For years, House Rosenheim assured the world that every possible treatment had been exhausted." Rian interrupted, addressing the gathering nobles.

"If Ambrosia was capable of saving me, as you now claim, why was it kept inside the First Lady’s private chambers while I was at death’s door?"

"..."

Felix froze, offering no response in return.

"Your words," Rian added with a shrug. "Not mine."

Marianne, knowing her son had screwed up, descended from the stairs at once. At least she was more determined to find out how Rian survived, as well as keeping up appearances.

SLAP—!

Her palm struck Felix across the face. Caught completely off guard, he crumpled to the floor, staring up at the mother who had never once raised a hand against him...until now.

"How dare you make such an accusation against your own brother!" Marianne exclaimed, loud enough for everyone to hear.

With Felix publicly discarded, she hurried toward Rian and immediately started playing the role of a worried mother.

"Rian, my poor boy..." She reached toward him. "Forget the Ambrosia. Forget all of this. Just tell me—has your curse truly been lifted?"

Over her shoulder, Rian watched the guards drag Edwin Voller from the hall.

The moment they disappeared through the side doors, the remaining guards suddenly straightened and formed two lines leading toward the grand entrance.

Rian grinned, leaning away from her hand. "Why don’t we ask someone far more qualified than me to answer that?"

Marianne tilted her head in confusion, but before she could respond, one of the guards spoke up loudly.

"Lady Charlotte Lowenhardt and her company have arrived!"

Fanfare of trumpets erupted as the grand doors to the hall were opened. Even nobles, who were haughty before, had no choice but to step aside as a figure entered.

A figure with pinkish-red hair slowly walked across the hall elegantly. Her eyes were narrowed—sharp, as though she was judging each and every person’s worth here.

Her red dress cascaded to the ground elegantly, matching the color of the red carpet leading forward. Various glittering gemstones were embroidered into her dress, causing her to stand out amongst the crowd.

Yet it was the large mantle that she wore on the outside, adorned with fur so thick it looked like the mane of a lion, that caused people to stare in awe.

At some point during the uproar, Adrian had descended from the private reception room. He now stood near the foot of the staircase, watching everything in silence.

Charlotte stopped before the patriarch and lowered herself into a formal curtsy.

"Your Grace."

Just behind her, two other figures walked into the room. They were the two people who helped Rian pull off the most successful rug pull in recent history— Alicia and Elaine.

"Young Lady Charlotte."

Adrian returned her courtesy, but did not linger around the spectacle. He looked at the situation and asked simply.

"You declined our invitation because you had no intention of watching your fiancé die." His expression remained unreadable. "What changed?"

"The information available to me, Your Grace."

Her gaze shifted toward Rian, still seated upon his coffin. "I was told my fiancé would die tonight. The moment I learned that was no longer true, I came as quickly as I could."

Rian, feeling the stares of everyone, felt that it was a bit too awkward to remain in the coffin. He climbed down quickly, standing next to Alicia.

"You did well," he murmured, nudging her lightly with his elbow.

"Thank you, Young Master," Alicia replied quietly.

Adrian watched the entire exchange with no comment before turning back to Charlotte, his expression still calm like before.

"And who provided you with this new information?"

"It came from Aldrich Eis, the Blue Tower Master, Your Grace."

As soon as she said the words, Charlotte reached her hand out. Immediately, her servant placed a scroll into her palm.

She unfurled it, clearing her throat to read the contents aloud.

"By my authority as Master of the Blue Magic Tower, I, Aldrich Eis, hereby certify that a new method has been discovered to stabilize Rian Rosenheim’s condition and extend his remaining lifespan."

Murmurs spread throughout the hall.

Charlotte continued reading. "This method is not a cure, nor can I guarantee how long its effects will last. I can, however, attest with certainty that the original prognosis is no longer valid."

She paused once before reading the final line.

"Young Lord Rian Rosenheim will survive beyond his eighteenth birthday—that is now a fact."

Gasps went up immediately as the name was heard, but even more so now that the crowd realized what Rian had said was true.

Until now, Rian’s survival could have been dismissed as a temporary miracle or the result of stolen Ambrosia.

Yet, Aldrich Eis’s declaration made it official. The whole country, no—world now knew of a simple fact.

Rian Rosenheim had defied his destiny.
