THE GOD EATER

Then the dragon emperor roared, "Sloan!"

His shout caused the air to liquify and flow as a viscous liquid outwards from him. The shockwaves created by his shout were visible as waves that rose and fell in the liquified air, pushing everything they encountered away before shattering them in a sonic explosion.

The shockwaves traveled away from the summit far into the distance, where they pushed the clouds aside while some went into the ground, making the mountain shake. Because of this, some parts of the mountain shattered into stone fragments that rolled down the mountainside as a landslide.

All of these ensured that everyone on the mountain heard the dragon emperor’s shout. Everyone who heard the shout also had reasons to suspect that the dragon emperor urgently needed what it was shouting for.

But the most anxious person was the one being called. When Sloan heard the dragon emperor shouting her name, she rushed over to the castle as if her life depended on it.

When she arrived, she immediately prostrated herself and said, "I am here, my emperor."

The dragon emperor said, "I can see that you’re here. I’m not blind. Or do you think I’m blind and senile?"

Sloan hurriedly shook her head like a rattle as she said, "I wouldn’t dare in a million years, my emperor."

"Good," the emperor said in satisfaction.

Then it said with a loud, domineering voice, "Go and get someone with the latest information about the affairs of the Blessed Heaven World."

Sloan wanted to say, "Ajax is the one with the latest information."

But when she saw the corpse on the ground, identified who it belonged to, and saw the blood on the dragon emperor’s lips, she swallowed all the words she wanted to say about Ajax.

Instead, she said, "Right away, your majesty."

She was gone as soon as she spoke. As for whether she was leaving in a hurry to do what she was asked to do or if she was leaving so that she wouldn’t end up as Ajax or both, that was up for debate.

A few minutes later, Sloan had brought someone else with updated knowledge of the current affairs of the Blessed Heaven World. The two of them lay on the ground in front of the emperor, shaking like leaves in the wind.

For a while, the emperor didn’t say anything to them. This was because he was busy snacking on the big bundle of fresh meat in front of him. That bag of meat used to be Ajax.

Ajax was a rank 5 dragon, and the dragon emperor was a rank 8 existence, so the dragon emperor didn’t need to use such a messy way to kill Ajax.

The dragon emperor also didn’t need to eat. This is something any divine being is capable of. The lowest rank 6 divine being didn’t need to breathe or eat, so a rank 8 existence definitely didn’t need to either.

If someone didn’t need to do something but was doing it anyway, either they were being forced to do that thing, or they wanted to do it for one reason or another.

Regarding why the dragon emperor was doing these things that it didn’t need to do, Sloan and the other dragons had an inkling. Their suspicion of the dragon emperor’s motive was why they were shaking as if they were freezing to death and needed to warm themselves up by contracting their muscles.

The dragon emperor ate with such gusto that one might think that it was starving. But, unlike a starving person, it didn’t finish its meal. Instead, it ate half of it and left the rest.

One of the parts it left was Ajax’s head. So anyone who looked at the half-eaten meat bag would see Ajax’s eyes still full of grievance and unwillingness.

The dragon emperor, while smacking its lips, said, "Now, tell me what is going on in the Blessed Heaven World recently. And don’t lie to me. I tend to eat liars, and I have left more room in my stomach just in case you end up lying to me."

The new informant struggled to breathe as it said, "A dragon appeared in the Blessed Heaven World. The dragon fought the divine beings in the second heaven of the Blessed Heaven World. The dragon killed two rank 8 cultivators of the Four Directions Sect and the Martial Body Sect."

It was rushing to speak, saying, "After that, no one knows what the dragon is up to. The dragon could still be alive, or it could be dead. No one can tell. But the dragon hasn’t been seen for a week since the two rank 8 cultivators and over 40 divine beings died."

"Then the Myriad Phenomenon Sect, the Nexus of Truth Sect, and the Sword Way Sect all declared war against the Martial Body Sect and the Four Directions Sect. The two sides are currently fighting in the first heaven of the Blessed Heaven World."

Hearing this, the dragon emperor glared at the informant and said, "Are you sure? Are you sure you’re not lying to me right now?"

"Think clearly before you speak because I still have a craving for fresh dragon meat. I don’t want something that was killed a few minutes ago. I want to eat something that I’ll kill now."

"I swear on my life, on my ancestors, and the dragon god that I didn’t speak one word of untruth," came the response from the informant.

"Hmmm," the dragon emperor said non-committally. "It would seem you’re telling the truth. If that is so, then Ajax was also telling the truth after all. What a shame for Ajax."

When the informant heard this, he sighed in relief and said, "I thank the emperor for discerning the truth."

The dragon emperor nodded and said, "You’re welcome. As a reward for your service, you should be rewarded."

"Then again, Ajax died for this, so it wouldn’t be fair to reward you for something he died for."
