The Golden Lord has a perverted SSS-rank summoning system!
Chapter 387: Final preparations for the war (02)In Goldenveil, the final preparations for the war advanced at a rapid pace since a formidable logistics team had already been assembled, and the last supplies were being carefully organized for transportation.
Unfortunately, Ethan still couldn’t provide a space ring for every soldier—something that would have virtually eliminated the need for most of the logistical support structure.
Still, what he managed to provide—five rings per cohort—was already a huge help, dramatically reducing the effort required to sustain ten thousand soldiers on campaign.
The once-gigantic support column had shrunk to just a few thousand civilians, accompanied by magical pack beasts whose heavy footsteps made the ground tremble with every stride.
In the Eternal Forest, organizing logistics teams of this magnitude posed a far greater challenge than anything encountered on the rest of the continent.
Moving large contingents of troops alongside colossal beasts through the dense trees and narrow trails was an almost impossible task, and a painfully slow one at that.
Ethan was already determined to eliminate this entire burden in the future by equipping every soldier with a mass-produced spatial ring capable of storing everything needed for a long military campaign.
A few dozen cubic meters per soldier would likely suffice.
Beyond that, he also planned to connect all of Goldenveil through roads built using his instant construction ability, complemented by a rail system capable of transporting tens, perhaps even hundreds of thousands of soldiers directly to the front lines.
Marches that today took weeks, or even months, would easily be cut down to a matter of days.
While the logistics team finished getting organized, Ethan went to inspect the soldiers gathered on the parade ground.
He walked side by side with Thalion and Doran, the latter sporting a suit of mithril armor forged by the hands of dwarven blacksmiths at Goldenveil’s Divine Forge.
The black metal gleamed, bathed in gold—powerful and imposing—a work of art worthy even for a fifth-stage warrior.
Doran already treated the armor, along with his sword of equally exceptional quality, as ancestral treasures of his family, and honestly, he wasn’t wrong.
At auction, items of that caliber would easily fetch tens, perhaps even hundreds of millions of gold coins.
Thalion, the second-in-command of the Goldenveil army—being an elf—wore armor of a very different design, yet no less majestic than Doran’s.
It was at once beautiful and powerful, graceful and heavy, combining the best of elven silver and mithril in a harmony that only elven hands were capable of achieving.
Between the two of them, Ethan wore the God-Slayer armor, even more imposing and dazzling than that of his companions, an almost divine glow emanating from every seam of the suit.
The helmet rested under his arm, his long golden hair dancing behind him as he walked with calm, steady steps. His black cloak billowed at his back as if it possessed a life of its own.
His eyes swept over the soldiers lined up in formation.
Ten thousand men, perfectly aligned in two blocks of five thousand.
Their armor came fitted with automatic cooling and heating runes, so even under the scorching sun beating down on the terrain, not one of them seemed the least bit bothered. Every face held a steadfast, disciplined expression.
Each was an elite infantryman par excellence, from the heavy armor that combined elven fabrics and dwarven steel to the blades that—even the lowest-tier ones—were capable of wielding the power of a warrior at the peak of the third stage.
From the Legates to the centurions, from the mid-level officers down to the rank-and-file soldiers...
Every one of them had the stature and power to serve as a boss in a Souls-like game—the kind Ethan had loved playing so much back on Earth.
Ethan came to a halt right in front of the troops.
His gaze swept over the Legates in the front line, then turned to the officers and centurions just behind them.
Amelia, his mother, wasn’t far off, but as a fifth-stage mage she could easily conceal her presence from anyone there.
Fifty of Amelia’s mages also accompanied the ten thousand men, forming an independent magical division that would provide support from a distance. They all gazed at Ethan with smiling, eager faces, led by Amelia’s five direct disciples—powerful fourth-stage mages.
They would take part directly in the battle and represented one of Ethan’s greatest trump cards—along with his mother, of course.
"Attention!" Doran roared beside Ethan, his voice cutting through the air like a blade.
The soldiers advanced a single step in perfect synchrony, their metal boots striking the ground with a unified thud that shook the earth beneath the feet of everyone present.
None of them had less than the equivalent of ten years of training, and their power sat, at the very least, at the second stage, with extremely solid foundations and bodies forged to the absolute limit.
On average, their attributes were about 50% higher than those of anyone else at the same level, and since they trained beneath the Tree of Life, that gap only continued to widen.
A level-thirty, second-stage warrior from Goldenveil could easily fight on equal footing against most level-fifty-nine warriors from other nations.
"I, Ethan Goldenveil, Count of Goldenveil and rightful ruler of the Eternal Forest, protector of every soul that dwells within it, hereby declare a state of war against Fallenwinter and its allied powers!"
His voice echoed across the square, imbued with an almost palpable authority.
"They have refused to bow their heads to Goldenveil, they defy our rule, and now they threaten everything we have built—our prosperity and our very lives. They shall meet their deaths by our blades!"
"Soldiers of Goldenveil, the most revered slayers of my enemies, march alongside me and bathe in the eternal glory of victory!"
"Eternal glory to Goldenveil!" Ten thousand voices merged into a single roar, the sound reverberating off the walls and shaking the very air.
All of them were ready for war.
With a silent prayer to the goddess of life, the goddess of beauty, and the goddess of death, they began their march.
