The Golden Lord has a perverted SSS-rank summoning system!
Chapter 399: WAR (11)For a brief moment, Ethan watched the world around him drain of all light.
Zael’s ability reached its critical point.
The orb of light hovering in the air began to warp and twist, contorting until it took the shape of a monstrous snow wolf’s head, its jaws stretched wide in a silent snarl.
Its ethereal fangs tore through the wind toward him, ripping through the air with a deep, guttural howl that made the ground vibrate beneath his feet.
’This is dangerous...’ Ethan clenched his teeth, taking a firm step backward.
A golden aura erupted around his body as he strengthened the Thousand Divine Slashes and activated the Impenetrable Golden Steel Skin. His armor took on a blinding gold sheen, radiating heat like a small sun.
In a single fluid motion, he swung the God Slayer.
From its black blade, covered in golden runes that pulsed like living veins, two slashes resembling long strands of molten gold shot through the air.
Two explosions of gold and steel thundered across the field, and Ethan’s ears rang from the roar.
An instant later, Zael’s weakened strike crashed against his blade with brutal force.
A pained grunt escaped the young Lord’s lips as the muscles in his arms tensed to absorb the impact. His feet, firmly planted on the ground, were dragged backward, carving a deep gash in the earth and kicking up a thick cloud of debris.
Zael’s attack bloomed like a deadly flower, swallowing Ethan whole before disintegrating into a powerful explosion that shook everything around it.
The ground trembled from the impact. A curtain of black dust engulfed the battlefield, obscuring everything in its path.
Zael did not move a single centimeter, standing motionless where he was. His cold eyes remained fixed on the cloud of smoke, patient as it slowly dissipated.
A ten-meter-wide crater surrounded Ethan’s body, and at its center, his figure glowed.
The young Lord’s eyes were just as cold, shining like two golden points behind the visor of his helmet.
"You’re better than I expected, young man," Zael admitted, completely ignoring the shock etched on the faces of the Lords accompanying him.
He lowered his gaze to his own sword. The blade was covered in cracks that spread across the steel like cobwebs. Slowly, he raised it again toward Ethan.
The young man was unscathed.
Part of Zael’s attack had struck his armor, but it hadn’t left so much as a scratch on the golden metal. His sword, which had parried the blow at full force, remained equally flawless, without a single crack marring its edge.
"You too, old man," Ethan smiled, a look of relief spreading across his face behind the visor.
If it weren’t for his armor, he would have suffered terrible injuries.
With a hoarse growl, he took a step forward, the ground beneath his boots cracking under the weight of his aura as he advanced.
His body vanished in a golden flash, and when he reappeared, he was already directly above Zael, the God Slayer descending in a deadly arc.
Lord Fallenwinter growled, flinging the damaged sword aside with a sharp motion as he drew another from his spatial ring. An S-Rank item, an ancient magical artifact from his family that he hadn’t wielded in many years.
At last, he had found an enemy worthy of testing it.
A metallic explosion echoed through the air as their blades collided, the space around them tearing apart in a powerful shockwave that sent debris flying in every direction.
"I don’t know how you managed to gain so much strength while still only at the third stage, but this ends here!" Zael roared, shoving Ethan backward with a brutal thrust before charging after him.
Ethan assumed a defensive stance, his feet planted firmly on the unstable ground, as Zael’s sword slashed relentlessly toward him. Their blades clashed between them again and again, each collision spitting sparks and metallic clangs that reverberated across the field.
"Die!" Zael stomped the ground with colossal force. Thousands of cracks radiated in all directions as the earth and mud split open like a gaping wound.
Ethan lost control of his body for a brief moment, his feet slipping out from beneath him. All he could do was clench his teeth as Zael’s heavy sword came down on him like a guillotine.
He could no longer hesitate.
His aura was being drained at an absurd rate, and his body was already dangerously close to its limit. A little longer, and he would suffer permanent damage.
He activated the Golden Steps the instant his back hit the ground, swiftly putting distance between himself and Zael before the old man could capitalize on his fall.
His breathing was labored and painful. His lungs had been damaged, and every time he drew a breath, he felt a terrible burning in his chest, as if he were inhaling red-hot embers.
His muscles were in no better shape, protesting with a dull ache at every movement.
The young Lord readied his sword, mentally checking his aura reserves. He still had fifty percent left—just enough for a single final strike.
Fortunately, seeing the determined expression on Zael’s face, Ethan knew the old Lord wouldn’t flinch.
Zael seemed to sense his intention and flashed a fierce smile, also preparing for a final attack.
The two stared each other down for a brief moment, their swords brimming with power to the limit.
Around Zael’s blade, countless spectral claws emerged, swirling around the steel with tremendous force, eager to tear apart everything in their path.
Around the God Slayer, whose golden runes shone like tiny suns embedded in the black metal, something entirely different manifested.
Electric bolts of pure gold danced along the blade, crackling with devastating energy that made the surrounding air sizzle.
"Is this worth dying for?" Ethan asked coldly, his voice cutting through the heavy air.
"You tell me, brat," Zael growled, his eyes flashing with fury and a strange satisfaction.
The two held each other’s gaze for another moment suspended in time, and then they swung their blades simultaneously.
Claws and lightning collided. The black metal coated in gold crashed against the shining silver, and the world, for an instant, lost all its color.
Both of their bodies were engulfed by a terrible explosion that obliterated everything around them in a blinding flash.
In the skies, hidden by a veil of camouflage, Amelia watched it all in silence.
"Ethan..." she whispered softly, her fingers already poised to act if necessary.
