Chapter 266 - 131: New Crispy Dish and the Wild Blade TechniqueChapter 266: Chapter 131: New Crispy Dish and the Wild Blade Technique
"Who?" Ling Shuyu asked subconsciously.
Li Mingtao thought for a moment and said, "Rather than asking me, you’d be better off asking your supplier, Fang Chang. He knows much more about this matter than I do."
"What I can do is act as a go-between and get your boss in touch with the person in charge of this project. But how to actually resolve the issue, that will be up to your boss."
Ling Shuyu nodded slightly.
’What Li Mingtao said made sense. It was already a huge favor for him to act as a go-between. Asking for anything more would truly be beyond his scope.’
"Then I appreciate your help, Director Li."
Li Mingtao said, a bit apologetically, "I should get going now. I’m sure there will be no issues with the proposal President Ling submitted. As soon as the company approves it, I’ll send the payment over immediately."
"Mm."
’The money wasn’t a major concern. There was no way they’d skip out on the bill, anyway.’
After Li Mingtao left, Ling Shuyu began to puzzle over the matter. ’How is Fang Chang involved again? Does that guy really have such a wide network?’
’If this involved talking to Fang Chang, then the boss would have to handle it personally. It was something Ling Shuyu couldn’t decide on her own.’
Outside the office, the cafeteria, which should have been quiet and deserted in the morning, was now abuzz with activity.
To get a taste of the wok-seared noodles for lunch, all the martial brothers who were supposed to have left by car that morning had stayed behind.
A few had been on the verge of leaving, but Wang Peixing flat-out refused to let them go.
"I treated you all to a breakfast that cost eight thousand, and you think you can just up and leave?"
"Today, for lunch, every one of you is treating me to a bowl of noodles. No one’s leaving until you do!"
Having learned their lesson from the morning’s experience, everyone knew this lunch would likely be another "noodle assassin." The question of who would foot the bill naturally arose.
Wang Peixing certainly wasn’t treating. He’d nearly been bankrupted by breakfast.
So, Shi Qi made a suggestion: they would split into groups and have a Fight the Landlord tournament. The losers would pay, the winners would eat for free, and the money they pooled should be just about enough for the meal!
And so, there they were, in the middle of a rowdy game of Fight the Landlord.
Meanwhile, Cui Yufen, Lu Yongliang, and a couple of the other older members had spent a good while touring the kitchen.
Watching Zhang Heping prepare lunch, the four of them offered suggestions from time to time.
These small suggestions were a great boon to Zhang Heping; he felt the quality of his canteen-style cooking had jumped several notches.
This continued until eleven in the morning.
And then, Su Chen appeared!
"Boss Su, you’re finally here!"
"Hurry up and make the noodles! I feel like I’m starving!"
"Damn, you ate ten buns this morning and you have the nerve to say you’re hungry? Don’t think I wasn’t watching, I had my eye on you!"
"Why the hell were you staring at me? You ate twelve yourself, how come you’re not mentioning that?"
"Quiet, everyone! Look what Boss Su is doing. He’s not making the wok-seared noodles!"
The whole group of guys barged right into the kitchen after him.
’There was nothing they could do about the buns this morning, but now that Boss Su was cooking personally, they had to get a good look!’
"The kids from the daycare will be eating here shortly. Why don’t we all move up to the nineteenth floor? It’s just us, after all," Su Chen said, carrying two rolls of pork rind, along with the chicken and fish Bai Xiaobo had bought.
"Let’s go, let’s go! The nineteenth floor is way better. It’s quiet."
"Hey! Yesterday you were saying the nineteenth floor wasn’t up to snuff, and now suddenly it’s fine?"
"Don’t be ridiculous, I never said that! Must’ve been someone else."
The group followed Su Chen to the 19th floor, bickering noisily the whole way. Back in the kitchen, Zhang Heping opened his mouth to speak several times but never managed to get a word out.
’You’re all going off to eat the good stuff, and you’re just leaving me here? What’s that about?’
Sigh!
’I knew it, I shouldn’t have gotten a job. The moment you start working, you’re chained down!’
’If I’d known, I would’ve goofed off for a couple more days before starting. Damn it!’
Of course, the Delicious employees all remained on the second floor. The daycare kids would be arriving soon, and they would have their hands full during the lunch rush.
Lu Yongliang looked at the various ingredients prepped in the nineteenth-floor kitchen. "What’s all this for? I don’t remember your wok-seared noodles needing this many ingredients."
Su Chen shook his head, "The wok-seared noodles are for lunch. I also have to prepare for dinner."
Cui Yufen hurriedly waved her hands in dismissal. "Oh no, don’t worry about that. We all have to leave this afternoon. We won’t be staying for dinner."
Su Chen paused, taken aback. "Teacher Cui, the dinner is just me trying out something new."
A few more wrinkles creased Cui Yufen’s aged face. ’This is so damn awkward!’
She might want to leave, but others had no intention of doing so.
Lu Yongliang and the Jiang Brothers shamelessly sidled up. "Boss Su, what new dish are you trying out now? Seeing how rich the ingredients are, this must be for a whole feast, right?"
Jiang Wusheng chuckled. "Perfect. I didn’t get to drink at the engagement party yesterday. With Boss Su making a feast today, I’ll go buy a few bottles of Jingzhou’s specialty liquor. We brothers can have a great time drinking tonight, get a nice buzz on, and then sleep it off. Now that’s what I call living!"
"My brother is right!" Jiang Wensheng’s brown-nosing was getting more and more skilled. "We may be a bit older than Boss Su, but we’re on the same wavelength. I see no reason why we can’t all become sworn brothers!"
Lu Yongliang watched the two brothers playing off each other and was utterly astounded.
’Back then, all I could think about was taking him as my disciple. How did I never think of this angle?’
’Boss Su isn’t a relative or an old friend, and his skills are incredible. It’s only natural that he wouldn’t want to become someone else’s apprentice.’
’But these two brothers actually thought of treating him as an equal! The idea was genius! If you can’t make him your apprentice, you can become his sworn brother!’
’Once you’re brothers, you have to help out when your brother is in need, right?’
He immediately clapped his hands. "Yes, yes, yes, that’s a fantastic idea! I see nothing wrong with it either. I’m a few years older than the rest of you, so from now on, you brothers can just call me Big Brother!"
