Chapter 272: Chapter 132: Meat Aspic and Tender Vegetables, an Appetizer

They didn’t bother serving the noodles into individual bowls, simply placing the entire massive pot directly on a large round table in the cafeteria.

Jiang Wensheng held a ladle while Jiang Wusheng, eyes fixed eagerly on the massive pot, quickly grabbed a bowl and chopsticks.

"This is awesome! I never expected this. I thought we were just getting steamed buns today, but we managed to score some noodles too. My Fifth Brother is a beast!"

"He’s our Fifth Brother for a reason—he’s invincible!" Jiang Wensheng’s bootlicking was getting more and more shameless.

Under the furious glares of over a dozen burly men, the four elders happily went to the cafeteria to start eating their noodles.

"So much for ’respecting your elders and cherishing the young.’ This is just them throwing their weight around because they’re old!"

"Exactly! We can’t let them get away with this kind of behavior. The next pot has to be for us martial brothers. We’re human too, you know? We’re hungry!"

"Well said!"

Seeing his martial nephews seething with indignation, Su Chen simply fired up three more stoves.

As for the fourth stove, the pot of vegetables for the Crispy Pot was still on it. Before starting the noodles, Su Chen had checked on the dish.

He could vaguely see that the cabbage on top had begun to wilt, which meant its moisture was being released. The magic of a Crispy Pot was that you didn’t add any water to it.

Instead, it used a slow heating process to draw the water out of the cabbage.

For this step, Su Chen had borrowed the technique for making Boshan Crispy Pot.

Just as he expected, the cabbage juice had already started to pool around the two large pork bones at the very bottom. He turned the heat up slightly to speed up the process of drawing out the vegetable’s moisture.

After making the adjustment, Su Chen poured a layer of pure oil into each of the three woks, lit the stoves one by one, and then added the "eyebrow scallions" to each in sequence.

He had the timing for adding ingredients to each wok down to a science, ensuring that not a single one would turn out less than perfect due to a timing error.

In about ten minutes, the noodles in all three massive woks were ready!

"I’ll get it! I’ll get it!" Shi Qi couldn’t have been more eager. Mimicking Lu Yongliang’s method, he carried the large iron wok straight out to the cafeteria.

Su Chen barely had to lift a finger. Everyone took the initiative—those grabbing bowls grabbed bowls, and those fetching ladles followed close behind.

A short while later, Su Chen stood at the kitchen doorway, looking out at the two large round tables in the cafeteria, both packed with people.

All the martial nephews were staring eagerly at the large wok in the center of the table, huge bowls in hand. It felt like they were kids waiting for their New Year’s feast!

Wang Peixing held his bowl, seated at the same table as his Eldest Brother, Liu Fu.

"Don’t rush, everyone. We’ll go by seniority." This just went to show how cunning Liu Fu was.

He promptly served himself a bowl first. "Old Er isn’t here, so Old San, you’re up."

Old San took the ladle with a satisfied look and served himself.

This act made Shi Qi and Wang Peixing grind their teeth in frustration, but they didn’t dare voice their anger. What could they do? They were the junior ones!

People from Lu Province are all about seniority!

When the ladle finally made its way to Shi Qi, he exclaimed, "Aha, it’s finally my turn! I’ll be quick!"

Shi Qi was skillful. With two quick scoops, he filled his massive bowl to the brim.

Finally!

Wang Peixing’s eyes were about to brim with tears of joy. ’Is it finally my turn?!’

He reached out to take the ladle, but just as his hand closed around the handle, another hand suddenly appeared.

"These noodles are actually pretty good. I’m going for another bowl!" Liu Fu smoothly snatched the ladle away and shot a look at Wang Peixing. "Youngest, you’re not trying to fight me for it, are you?"

Wang Peixing’s tears of joy instantly turned into tears of sorrow. "No, of course not!"

He paid lip service to respecting his elders, but in his heart, he wanted nothing more than to smash Liu Fu’s face in with a single punch.

’You’re already on your second f*cking bowl, and I haven’t even had my first!’

Liu Fu served his bowl of noodles. By then, Old San had also finished eating.

Once Old San was done, it was the fourth brother’s turn...

Wang Peixing watched, dumbfounded, as the noodles in the wok dwindled, until the ladle had made another full rotation and was back in Shi Qi’s hands.

"Peixing, it’s not that I don’t want to help you, it’s just..." Shi Qi heaved a heavy sigh. "These noodles are just too damn good!"

Shi Qi scraped the last of the noodles into his own bowl. Wang Peixing stared at his own clean, empty mega-bowl. ’My life is so hard!’

Fortunately, they had made four pots of noodles in total. Swallowing his pride, Wang Peixing ran to the other table and finally managed to serve himself a bowl. It was more broth than noodles, but it was better than nothing!

Wang Peixing watched his martial brothers loudly slurping down their noodles and gulping down the broth, and he couldn’t swallow his own drool fast enough.

He stuck his chopsticks into the bowl—he wasn’t picking up the noodles, he was shoveling them straight into his mouth!

He shoveled a massive wad of noodles into his mouth.

’Savory, aromatic, pure!’

The moment it entered his mouth, these three qualities stood out with incredible clarity.

Ultimately, all of the flavor came from the scallions Boss Su had added, flash-frying them in the wok to fully unleash their aroma.

With that one mouthful, Wang Peixing felt as if he were... running through a field of scallions!

The fragrant scent of scallions rushed to greet him, invigorating his senses!

He chewed a few times. The noodles were both chewy and tender—a complex texture that fused together, creating an unprecedented sensation in his mouth.

Even for a veteran like Wang Peixing, who had spent years immersed in the world of cooking, an involuntary groan of satisfaction escaped his throat.

"So satisfying!"

The scalding hot noodles and broth flowed from his mouth down to his stomach. Even though it was a summer day in August, the faint warmth that spread from within wasn’t uncomfortable. On the contrary, it was a pleasant feeling, as if every pore on his body had opened up.

’Amazing!’

’No wonder the senior brothers were eating so fast. There’s really something special about these noodles!’
