"Mr. Percival!"

Viva called out with a smile as she entered the library, and Percy looked up from his desk and smiled back at Viva. There were students moving around the library and searching for books, but thankfully there was no one by the librarian’s desk, and this gave Viva the freedom to approach Percy.

"Hello, Viva. What can I do for you today?"

Viva let out a long, suffering sigh as she leaned down and put her chin on the table miserably.

"I’m exhausted, Mr Percy. I’ve been trying to get some more clues about the boy who used Synchronization, but everything I’ve looked up has been a dead end. I don’t think there’s any chance of finding out who’s behind this."

Percy hummed in curiosity, and he took a moment to answer a young boy who came to ask about a book before he finally turned back to Viva.

"I think I might be able to help with that."

Viva perked up in surprise once she heard this!

"Really?"

Percy nodded, and he spoke calmly.

"I’ve been having one of my contacts look into a group recently. The whole Time Paradox problem seemed far too complicated for someone like Zaran to accomplish, so I had a feeling there was an organization backing him as well."

Viva blinked in shock as she was reminded of the extremely terrifying situation that happened a few months ago! Viva had actually put all thoughts of that situation out of her head because she knew that it was something far outside her jurisdiction, and just the thought of trying to go up against the Time Wraiths had put the fear of God into Viva’s heart! Viva shivered from the memory, and she asked Percy if he found anything about the organisation yet.

Percy shook his head.

"No, unfortunately there hadn’t been any information yet. But there was some information that I think might interest you. Recently, there was a ritual that took place on the outskirts of the Kingdom of Sival. A cult known as Ragnarok carried out a Full Moon Ritual."

"Ragnarok?"

Viva frowned curiously as she wondered what that was! Viva had never heard of a cult with that sort of name before, and she wondered if this was really important to the investigation. But Viva knew Percy wouldn’t mention the cult unless they were a threat, and Viva asked Percy what the Full Moon Ritual was meant to do. Percy’s answer shocked Viva to the core.

"It’s meant to manipulate the Affinity of a mage."

Viva’s eyes widened in shock as she immediately connected all the dots! Was this really it!? Was the Ragnarok group the ones that helped the boy to manipulate his affinity so he could activate Synchronization!? It was very possible! Since Hellfire and Fire were closely related artefacts, it should take far less effort to interchange them! But was something like this really possible? Viva had never heard of anyone manipulating their own affinity before, so for a moment she wondered if it was even something real.

’No. Mr. Percy said it was real, so there is no way it isn’t. That means this Ragnarok were the ones that planned this whole thing?’

Viva frowned as she thought about this, and then she asked:

"What could they be trying to accomplish by killing all those students? Was there someone they were targeting, or was it some sort of cover-up for something else?"

Percy shrugged calmly and said:

"I have no idea about that. My contact is still looking into it, so we’ll know more about it later."

Viva immediately leaned forward!

"Can I get the address of the cult!? Or maybe where they did the investigation! We have a magic analyst in the City Guard, and he might be able to trace some of the members down if he feels the residual magic from the ritual."

Percy raised a brow at Viva’s request, and for a moment he thought about saying no. Dealing with a cult was always dangerous, and the City Guards didn’t exactly have the power needed to handle people this dangerous. But Percy eventually decided that it shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Although the cult was dangerous, they had also scattered a long time ago. Alpha and her group were hunting down most of the cultists, and it was unlikely that anyone dangerous was still in that cave.

Percy pulled out a piece of paper and wrote down the location before handing it to Viva with a warning.

"Make sure you go in with extreme caution. It might be a simple cult, but you never know what sort of twisted ritual they are attempting. If things get too dangerous, then make sure you get out of there immediately."

Percy never thought that it would happen, but he had actually grown fond of this crazy woman, and Percy didn’t want to see her dying because of something as ugly as a cult! Viva nodded her head very quickly to say that she understood, and Percy let out a small huff before he finally gave Viva the paper.

"Thank you, Mr. Percy!"

Viva waved goodbye with a wide smile as she left the library, and Percy clicked and put his hand out and called one of his summons.

A long black dragon that was barely the size of Percy’s arm materialized from the ground and floated around Percy’s body playfully. The dragon was one of the homunculi that Percy had created, called a [Shadow Serpent], and it had the ability to hide within shadows, making it the ideal summon for spying and carrying out reconnaissance missions! Percy petted the dragon softly on the head before he gave it a simple order.

"Make sure she’s safe. If anything serious happens, let me know."

The dragon let out a cute-sounding roar in response, and then it dived into the shadow and began to follow after Viva. Percy watched it go for a few seconds before he finally turned to another young student who needed help.

[Hildegard’s Home]

Things had been very dreary ever since Hildegard returned home. Over the past week, Hildegard had not come out of her room even once other than to eat or use the toilet. After being taken away from school by her mother, Hildegard had gotten into a massive argument about what she wanted to do in the future. Hildegard’s mother was insistent that Hildegard did not need to go to school, and Hildegard had constantly begged her mother to allow her to go! But it seemed like none of Hildegard’s pleas were being heard at all, so Hildegard had simply locked herself in her room.

In that one week, multiple people had come to Hildegard’s home to try and convince her mother to let Hildegard return to school. The first person who came was Rosaline. Rosa had almost fallen to her knees to beg Hildegard’s mother to take Hildegard back to school, but her mother had been completely unmoving! Hildegard’s mother sent Rosa out of the house without bothering to listen to any of her pleas, and Rosa had to leave when Hildegard’s mother threatened to call the City Guard.
