The Heroines Can Hear My and the Protagonist's Inner Voice!?
Chapter 252: Hearing an Inner Voice From AfarThe airport terminal was quieter than usual.
It was late enough that most of the crowds had disappeared, leaving only scattered travelers pulling suitcases behind them and tired employees preparing for the next wave of arrivals.
Lin Yue stood near the exit.
Long black hair fell over her shoulders.
A fitted black coat covered a white blouse, while a small suitcase rested beside her.
She had changed considerably since her days with Black Wolf.
Back then...
She had spent most of her life in field hospitals.
Blood on her gloves.
Gunfire outside the tent.
Wounded mercenaries screaming for morphine.
Now?
She looked every bit like the accomplished surgeon she had become.
Calm.
Elegant.
Beautiful.
And currently...
Extremely annoyed.
Because a voice had suddenly appeared inside her head.
Lu Chen’s voice.
[She always had a great body.]
"..."
Lin Yue slowly looked around.
No one.
Her expression became strange.
[Looks even better now.]
Her eyes narrowed.
What the hell?
She knew that voice.
There was absolutely no mistaking it.
Lu Chen.
But...
He wasn’t here.
[Wonder if she still has that scar near her hip.]
Lin Yue’s expression completely froze.
Her hand slowly moved toward her coat.
That scar...
Almost nobody knew about it.
She had received it years ago during an operation in Syria.
Lu Chen had been there.
Which meant...
That really was him.
Somehow...
She was hearing his thoughts.
Lin Yue stared at absolutely nothing.
"...Wonderful."
Her phone vibrated.
Lu Chen: Stay there. I’m coming to get you.
Lin Yue looked at the message.
Then...
Another thought arrived.
[Been years.]
[She probably missed me.]
Lin Yue’s eyebrow twitched.
[I wouldn’t be surprised if she still likes me.]
"..."
Her excitement about seeing an old friend...
Dropped considerably.
. . .
The next morning...
Shen Tian woke surprisingly early.
Not because of cultivation.
Not because of Xu Ning.
Not because another protagonist opportunity had appeared.
But because...
Someone was poking his cheek.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Shen Tian’s green eyes slowly opened.
Chi Lingxi immediately froze.
Her finger remained pressed against his cheek.
"..."
"..."
Shen Tian stared at her.
Chi Lingxi stared back.
Then...
Her face turned bright red.
"Good morning."
Shen Tian looked at her finger.
She immediately pulled it away.
"I can explain."
"Can you?"
"...No."
Shen Tian sat up.
Sunlight entered through the curtains.
He looked toward the clock.
8:17 AM.
Then...
Back toward Chi Lingxi.
"Why are you in my room?"
Her blush became worse.
"I came to wake you up."
"By poking me?"
"You weren’t waking up!"
"So you poked me."
"I tried saying your name first."
"And?"
"You looked peaceful."
Shen Tian stared.
Chi Lingxi’s ears became red.
"So..."
"You decided to touch my face."
"..."
She slowly covered her face.
"Stop saying it like that!"
Shen Tian laughed.
Chi Lingxi peeked between her fingers.
Then...
Her eyes softened.
She still wasn’t entirely used to this.
Dating him.
Being allowed this close.
Being able to simply walk into the Shen mansion without wondering whether she belonged there.
After everything involving her grandfather...
Shen Tian had given her something stable.
Something warm.
And although her grief hadn’t disappeared...
It no longer consumed every moment.
She slowly lowered her hands.
"Breakfast is ready."
"Everyone downstairs?"
"Unfortunately."
Shen Tian raised an eyebrow.
"Unfortunately?"
Chi Lingxi puffed her cheeks.
"I wanted five minutes alone with my boyfriend."
Shen Tian stared.
Her confidence immediately collapsed.
"W-Well..."
She looked away.
"Not like that."
"I didn’t say anything."
"Your face did."
"My face is innocent."
"Your face has never been innocent."
Shen Tian laughed.
Then...
He reached forward.
Chi Lingxi froze as his fingers gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face.
Her entire body became still.
He tucked it behind her ear.
"There."
Chi Lingxi’s face instantly became crimson.
Shen Tian raised an eyebrow.
"Seriously?"
She covered her cheeks.
"Don’t do things like that without warning!"
"I moved your hair."
"Exactly!"
"..."
Shen Tian stared.
Chi Lingxi turned around.
"Breakfast!"
She practically escaped.
Shen Tian watched her disappear.
Then...
Xu Ning appeared beside the bed.
[Critical hit.]
Shen Tian looked toward her.
"Good morning to you too."
[She nearly died.]
"From moving her hair?"
[Host.]
Xu Ning placed an imaginary hand against her chest.
[You don’t understand maiden hearts.]
Shen Tian got out of bed.
"And you do?"
[Obviously.]
"You’re a system."
[A female system.]
"That somehow makes it worse."
[How dare you.]
. . .
Downstairs...
Breakfast had become chaos.
Again.
Yin Suyi sat at the table.
Shen Yan beside her.
Ling Shuangxue was drinking coffee.
Bai Xue had somehow stolen Shen Tian’s usual seat and was refusing to move.
Qin Ruobing was speaking with Meng Lan.
Li Lian and Chu Zijin were arguing about something completely meaningless.
Ruan Yizhen was quietly eating.
Chu Mei and Chu Chuchu were stealing food from each other’s plates.
Chu Luoshen was attempting to maintain some semblance of civilization.
And...
The moment Shen Tian entered...
Everyone looked up.
Silence.
Then...
Yin Suyi smiled.
"My son!"
Shen Tian stopped.
"No."
His mother froze.
"I didn’t do anything."
"You were about to."
"...True."
Shen Yan immediately looked him over.
Then stopped herself.
She remembered.
No obsessive checking.
No treating him like glass.
Shen Tian noticed.
He smiled.
"Morning, Sis."
Shen Yan’s expression immediately softened.
"Good morning, Tian."
That smile was enough.
She looked away before anyone noticed how pleased she was.
Unfortunately...
Everyone noticed.
Bai Xue grinned.
"Someone’s happy."
Shen Yan’s eyes became cold.
"Speak again."
Bai Xue’s grin widened.
Shen Tian sighed.
"Yan."
Instantly...
Her expression softened.
"Yes, Tian?"
"No threatening people before breakfast."
She paused.
"...After breakfast?"
"No."
"Oh."
Bai Xue nearly fell from her chair laughing.
Shen Yan glared.
Shen Tian pointed toward her without looking.
"Don’t."
Shen Yan immediately returned to eating.
Ling Shuangxue watched.
Then...
A tiny smile appeared.
"You’re getting good at that."
Shen Tian sat.
"At what?"
"Managing everyone."
Yin Suyi looked offended.
"We don’t need managing."
Every woman at the table looked toward her.
