[Sophie Hazelnut: Hello?]
A message popped up directly from her.
I tapped on her profile picture first. Two flowers in a vase. Did it symbolize the two sisters...?
Before I could settle on an interpretation, another message arrived.
[Sophie Hazelnut: Is this a good time?]
[Sophie Hazelnut: I got your address.]
[Sophie Hazelnut: Is a nearby cafe okay?]
Judging by how fast she was typing, she didn’t seem to have any disability. She also wasn’t repeating "Messiah, Messiah" at me, so her mental state appeared normal. Somehow, my standards for what counted as "normal" had dropped quite a bit since meeting Phonia.
[Gilmon Salazar: It’s fine!]
I decided to stay polite for now.
[Gilmon Salazar: I have a lot of luggage with me right now, so I’ll drop by the house first to put it down. I’ll head over if you go ahead.]
[Sophie Hazelnut: No, you don’t have to do that.]
[Sophie Hazelnut: Where are you now?]
Was she offering to pick me up?
A little dazed, I told her my current location.
A moment later, the low rumble of an engine approached. A hot pink car stopped across the street. A woman wearing sunglasses waved at me. She had lightly tanned skin and a short haircut that suited her small, delicate face perfectly.
"Gilmon Salazar, right?"
"Yes... that’s me."
People passing by kept glancing our way.
"Hurry up and get in!"
I jogged over and slid into the passenger seat.
"Hello. Just put your luggage in the back," the woman in the sleeveless top said with a smile. Her sunglasses were so large they covered nearly half her face. Her lips, painted a deep red, looked full, and her smile felt refreshingly bright.
She was different from Phonia in many ways. Though somewhat slender, she looked healthy. Both her clothes and the car seats were spotlessly clean.
"So, you’re the guy who stole my little sister."
"S-stole...?"
She laughed, clearly amused, then stepped on the accelerator. The car shot forward with a squeal of tires.
"Just kidding."
When Sophie inhaled, her prominent collarbones stood out sharply, like small basins that could hold water. Is she really Phonia’s older sister?
My first impression of her was surprisingly favorable. I was also relieved that she wasn’t being harsh or overly suspicious toward me, the guy who had suddenly declared he would live with her younger sister.
She kept her eyes on the road and listened quietly as I spoke.
"Yeah... I see. You must have been really flustered..."
She mostly just listened, nodding occasionally. We stopped at a red light. Once I had said everything I needed to, I fell silent. That was when Sophie spoke.
"Messiah."
"Huh...?"
I flinched.
Had she been pretending to be normal this whole time?
"Haha, why so nervous? Isn’t that what Phonia calls you?" She added softly, "I don’t know why you like our Phonia... but I doubt you like her as a woman."
"..."
"That child was bullied a lot. The boys said cruel things, and the girls avoided her. She’s carried so much pain. At some point, she just... gave up on herself."
Her expression darkened.
"After she got a little older, more boys started hitting on her. They saw her as an easy target because she lacked confidence and was physically frail. Even though one of her eyes is damaged, they focused on her large breast instead. They tried to..."
She trailed off painfully.
"Thank you. I know it must have been hard for you to go along with her. I won’t ask what tricks you used to open her heart. I just... hope you won’t hurt her."
Her concern was completely valid.
In the past, I would have seen this as an opportunity. But unlike before, I had changed. I felt no sexual desire toward Phonia. In fact, I planned to stay completely celibate as atonement for my previous playthrough.
"I can’t promise I won’t make you worry... but I’ll try my best. Phonia is really cute, you know."
"Is she?" Sophie glanced at me.
"That’s a relief. You seem like a good person, Gilmon."
She smiled again.
She seems like a good person too. It would be nice to get along with her. Phonia, her sister, and me—we could live a peaceful, simple life unlike my previous playthrough—
Bzzt.
I checked my phone.
[Sophie Hazelnut]
[Trait: Whore]
[Personality: Outwardly Strong, Inwardly Soft]
[Favorability: 12/100]
[Warning: The appropriate maximum favorability is 100.]
"N-no way..."
No fucking way...
Sophie was a heroine too? And her trait was Whore?
I could feel her gaze on me from behind those dark sunglasses.
"What’s wrong?"
Was it my imagination, or had her previously warm voice suddenly turned cold?
"No, it’s nothing. Just a message from a friend..."
Even simple skinship could make heroines react strongly. Since she was Phonia’s sister, I would inevitably see her often. If I wasn’t careful, I might push her favorability past the limit without realizing it.
Would the same nightmare from the previous playthrough repeat itself?
Could this kind older sister break too?
Were heroines being generated randomly like this? Everyone I simply wanted to get along with ended up becoming one.
I finally understood.
What would have made me happy before now felt like hell.
