Chapter 471 - 470: Fighting the Jiao-dragon

Chapter 471: Chapter 470: Fighting the Jiao-dragon

Deep within the mountain range, Qin Ya found a cave to rest in.

Gazing at the terrifying birds of prey that occasionally streaked across the sky and listening to the faint roars echoing from the forest, everyone felt a chill in their hearts. One of them spoke up quietly, "Flying in the open makes us too obvious a target. We’d be better off searching on the ground, within the mountains."

However, Qin Ya shook his head. "No. While it would be safer, trekking over mountains and through valleys is full of obstacles. Our line of sight and even our Divine Thought would be limited. It would make finding the Teleportation Platform much more difficult. I don’t think it’s worth the trade-off."

He thought for a moment, and then his eyes suddenly lit up.

"Everyone, I have a way to evade the flying Fierce Beasts. Let’s split up. I’ll scout from the sky while the rest of you travel on the ground, leaving a trail for me to follow. As soon as I find anything, I’ll come back for you."

The others were perplexed. Luox Xinyu asked, "What method do you have in mind?"

Qin Ya just smiled faintly, then took out a Ghost Face Mask and put it on. In an instant, his figure vanished. The others’ expressions changed slightly at the sight.

Although Luox Xinyu was blind, her Divine Thought allowed her to sense the strange change that had come over Qin Ya. Puzzled, she asked, "Brother Qin, where did you go?"

SWOOSH. Qin Ya’s figure reappeared before them.

"Brother Qin, what is that?"

"It’s a Forbidden Artifact I came across by chance. It can create an isolated pocket of Space to hide my presence. Even the Divine Thought of a King might not be able to detect me."

Everyone was amazed and showered him with praise.

"What a treasure! To think it has such a miraculous effect."

"Heh, that thing is the perfect tool for an assassin."

"With this, Brother Qin can evade the senses of those beasts in the sky. You’ll be able to search for the Teleportation Platform from above without any worries. Heh, that’s great."

With the plan set, Qin Ya put on the Ghost Face Mask and shot up into the sky. After resting a little longer, Luox Xinyu and the others also began to make their way deeper into the mountains.

High in the air, Qin Ya flew onward. He lost count of the number of flocks of flying beasts he passed, many of which were far more powerful than the black eagles they had seen earlier. He even encountered a three-headed avian King.

The creature was a full thousand zhang from head to tail, with a wingspan of at least eight hundred zhang. It had a tiger-like body with four claws, but it possessed three eagle heads. One, fiery-red, breathed out Flame; another, ice-blue, exhaled Frost and chilling air; and the third, a purplish-black, spewed highly corrosive venom.

As Qin Ya passed by, the beast spat out a great gout of venom, nearly hitting him. The venom landed on a mountain peak several hundred zhang high. Within a few breaths, the entire peak corroded and melted away, leaving a massive pit a hundred zhang wide, filled with molten residue and bubbling poison.

It had become... a veritable lake of poison!

Qin Ya could tell that if he were to fight it, his only option would be to run. ’Killing it is impossible,’ he thought. ’I’d be lucky to even land a serious blow.’

’The deeper I go into the mountains, the stronger and more terrifying the Fierce Beasts become.’

’I’ve been searching for so long. Why haven’t I found any trace of the Teleportation Platform?’

’I’ll keep looking.’

Two hours later, Qin Ya finally found the Teleportation Platform.

It was located in a valley, seemingly enveloped by an invisible force. There were no Fierce Beasts lurking nearby. Overjoyed, Qin Ya immediately memorized the location and turned back. Following the trail they had left, it took him half a day to find Luox Xinyu and the others.

However, when he found them, they were locked in a vicious battle.

They were fighting a terrifying Fierce Beast.

A body ten zhang thick was coiled within a massive lake, its white scales shimmering under the light. White fur ran down its spine like a winding mountain range. Its pale yellow eyes flickered with lofty arrogance, and a single white horn, twenty to thirty zhang long, jutted from its forehead.

’That’s... a Flood Dragon!’

’Damn it, they actually managed to piss off a Flood Dragon.’

Even from thousands of zhang away, Qin Ya could still feel the terrifying waves of power rolling off the Flood Dragon, like facing a tempestuous sea.

This was a Flood Dragon whose Cultivation was, at the very least, on par with a King!

’Running into that three-headed monster bird was bad enough, and now I’ve stumbled upon a Flood Dragon. My luck is really something else.’

Qin Ya sighed helplessly. Then, his gaze hardened, his face turning grave. Using the concealing power of the Ghost Face Mask, he shot toward the Flood Dragon.

BOOM! The Flood Dragon’s tail whipped toward Leng Qiushan, creating a heaven-shaking surge. The air itself boomed with the force of the blow, a power strong enough to shatter mountains!

Leng Qiushan’s pupils contracted. A faint golden light flowed along his sword’s edge as he let out a low growl. Countless beams of Sword Light erupted, forming a curtain of light before him.

CRACK...

The massive tail slammed into the curtain of light. With a sound like shattering glass, the barrier instantly disintegrated. Unable to dodge, Leng Qiushan could only activate a Defensive Pseudo-Spiritual Artifact.

Leng Qiushan was smashed into a nearby mountain. With a deafening crash, the peak split in two. Boulders tumbled and trees splintered. Amidst the swirling dust, Leng Qiushan clutched his chest and coughed up mouthfuls of blood, mixed with bits of his internal organs.

"Damn it."

A flicker of rage crossed Gu Lin’s otherwise cold face. A vast, pure dark aura surged from his body, condensing on the edge of his sword. In an instant, his eyes turned jet-black, like two infinitely deep black holes radiating an aura that made one’s soul tremble. "One Slash... Dark Tide Devouring the World!"

With a single slash, a beam of Sword Qi more than thirty zhang long materialized and hacked toward the Flood Dragon. It was like a dark tide intent on devouring the world; everything in its path—flowers, grass, earth, rock, even the very air—was corroded away.

It was a Mysterious Technique!

With Gu Lin’s level of Cultivation, that one attack was enough to kill an ordinary King!

The others instantly unleashed their ultimate attacks as well.

In an instant, a Flame Dharma Aspect roared and unleashed a massive pillar of fire. A tornado of sand and dirt swept forward. Blades and sword-like energy formed from powerful Sound Waves shot out...

Several powerful energy attacks followed close behind the Dark Sword Qi, a world-destroying torrent aimed straight at the White Flood Dragon in the lake.

"Fools!"

The White Flood Dragon actually spoke in a human voice. Though it called them fools, a grave look flashed in its pale yellow eyes. The lake beneath it erupted, sending a ten-thousand-zhang wave surging upward like a water wall that blotted out the sky.

The majestic, seemingly endless flood crashed against the incoming Sword Qi and the barrage of attacks. With a roar, massive plumes of water erupted. The other energy attacks held for only a moment before being extinguished. Only the black Sword Qi, radiating an all-devouring aura, tore through the waves and continued straight for the White Flood Dragon!

"ROAR—"

With a long cry, the White Flood Dragon’s roar rolled out like thunder. A water curtain formed before it, blocking the Dark Sword Qi. Having already lost most of its power crashing through the flood, the Sword Qi began to slowly dissipate!
