Obtaining enough divinity points was already hard enough to do, and yet, the Pure God Sense skill was still somehow out of his hands. Still beyond his reach. It was not a skill that allowed him to fire a strong attack or gave him a second chance in life.
Just a simple skill that allowed him to finally sense immortal energy.
Rex really wanted to master it.
He was even planning to master it before arriving at the banquet that hosts countless powerful entities.
But achieving it was akin to a pipe dream.
It was too hard to master the Pure God Sense skill when time was not on his side.
Earlier, before entering the Sundial Arch, Rex even debated whether he should simply ask something else from the Warden. Someone with the power of time could help him in various ways. Or perhaps he should focus on other powers that he possessed.
His Laws, for one, could still be trained.
For now, he could only wield each Law independently. Using them at the same time was still taxing to his body, draining his stamina rapidly like blood leaking from an open wound. If he wanted to, he could ask the Warden to help him train and refine the Laws until they were more efficient—and perhaps even more powerful.
No need to pay gold through the System to gain the path to train Laws.
Rex was quite sure an entity that exists even before the annals of time would know the method for this.
And there are other powers that he had that he could focus on other than the Pure God Sense skill.
Even after he stopped and realized that he only had about fifteen hours left before needing to leave.
But in the end, he decided to persevere and continue focusing on it.
It was a risky endeavour, as he might not reach the mastery he needed to properly sense immortal energy, and that would mean wasting precious time that he didn’t have. Fortunately, fortune favours the bold—he got what he needed and more.
Due to his perseverance, the domino effect that worked for him began to fall into place.
Rex got more than merely sensing immortal energy.
Much, much more.
Savouring the power that filled him up from within like he was a burning kettle that already steamed—he lowered his stance and crossed his arms before his face. He tucked his head under his arms while the immortal energy inside him gushed out, answering his call.
Power that was unlike anything he had ever touched.
It poured from the depths of his core into his claws—a flood of raw divinity that made his claws throb and pulsate with each heartbeat. And then, as if adopting his own temperament, the new power expanded outward in uneven and random waves.
A pulse distorted the air.
Swoosh—!
Another pulse shook the platform he was standing on.
Each one made the very fabric of the Temporal Labyrinth shimmer and buckle.
Around his claws, stretching for around three inches, the atmosphere boiled blood-red—sparkling with volatile immortal energy that seemed to crack the seams of reality. And as more immortal energy inside his body was drawn out and gathered there, the blood-red stretched.
It was stretching slowly to the eye, but somehow faster than the incoming spheres.
Soon, the blood-red reached far enough to stir Davina and Lilliana.
Both were safe within their sectioned bubble of space on the main platform, but the devastating pressure coming from Rex reached them through the membrane. It pressed against their skin, against their lungs, and even against their souls.
Once their eyelids fluttered open, the sisters saw him.
Saw Rex on a distant platform, curled around his own blazing claws as the immortal energy swelled.
It expanded with each pulse—a crimson volcano that was spilling into the greenish void.
And with a violent grunt, his crimson eyes flashed as he unleashed everything he gathered in his claws.
His arms snapped open like he was swiping the world away, and a ferocious howl that tore loudly from his throat was not only a sound, but also a signal. The immortal energy inside his claws obeyed—like a loyal companion and then detonated.
Kaboom—!
A devastating shockwave exploded, and the impact scoured through the labyrinth.
Around, the greenish still void bled crimson as the wave crashed outward—and every sphere that was hurtled towards him, a hundred of them that contained the power of time, shattered into nothing. Even the platform beneath his feet cracked.
Great fissures spiderwebbed across its smooth stone surface from the sheer, uncontainable might.
Sheer uncontrollable might of Rex’s immortal energy.
Davina threw her arm up on pure instinct to shield her face from the shockwave, assuming that not even the membrane protecting her space was enough to block the shockwave entirely. And she was correct to expect that, as a sliver of the shockwave seeped through and slammed against her body.
She was pushed back hard and skidded across the platform until her back struck the membrane.
And when the shockwave passed, she lowered her arm again, only for her breath to be caught.
Even though the shockwave was extremely powerful and different, she wasn’t expecting to see anything once she lowered her arm, but she was wrong. She witnessed something legendary. Something that she would remember for a long time.
Rex floated above the ruined platform like a higher being.
His body was entirely sheathed in a sparkling crimson aura that dyed everything around him red. Even the still greenish void itself seemed corrupted by his presence, saturated with a celestial pressure—that made her own blood stir with an inexplicable, rising anger.
Not a primal reaction to the sheer magnitude of Rex’s power.
Nor was it an original emotion that came from within.
No—it was induced by Rex’s energy, as if his presence alone could draw out anger.
But it was more than that.
Davina couldn’t quite put her finger on it—but this aura he was emanating was different from his normal ones. ’His presence has always been dominating and heavy, but this... It’s different. It was still heavy, but it wasn’t wearing down only the body anymore. It also bore down on something inside me, making me feel insignificant.’
Just as she thought that, something happened.
As Rex landed on the platform, the aura he emanated vanished entirely.
"W-What?" Davina gasped.
Her lips trembled slightly, and her eyes widened in complete and utter shock.
Even at this very second, she could still see the sparkling blood-red aura clinging to Rex’s body. It was there. She could trace its outline clearly with her eyes, but she could no longer feel it. The sensation had vanished, just like it had the moment she first stepped into the Primordial Meadow.
As she met Demigod after Demigod, this sensation prevailed.
Davina could see their aura, but she couldn’t sense it through her senses alone.
Just premonition and sixth sense that were amplified from becoming a Silverstar.
Now, Rex also fell into that category of people. His aura is now more absolute and divine. And she stared at Rex, wreathed in his own crimson glory—the realization struck her like a physical blow. Before she could articulate the thought into words, Lilliana had already spoken it.
"He’s..." Lilliana sucked in a cold breath. "He’s now a complete Demigod."
<Congratulations on achieving full mastery over the Pure God Sense skill!>
<Congratulations, the user has made another step towards invincibility!>
<A Step to Godhood achievement has been completed!>
<Obtained 3x Divinity Discharge>
<Notice: Full mastery over the Pure God Sense skill has awakened the user’s divine space, allowing the user to regulate immortal energy throughout the user’s body, and elevated the user’s body to a complete state of Demigod Constitution>
<All of the user’s stats have been significantly increased!>
"Significantly increased?" Rex looked down at the palm of his hand and smiled inwardly.
Rex had become a Demigod by simply stealing divinity points from Kaiser—leeching power through a ritual that forced him to give away power. More sacrifices meant more power that he needed to bestow into the ritual.
It was a fast, brutal path to ascension.
Effective for one to grow stronger rapidly, but incomplete.
That fact was made obvious the second he entered the Primordial Meadow.
Everyone, even those weaker than him with less divinity and divinity points, was able to use immortal energy. Rex, on the other hand, though unnaturally strong and versatile, couldn’t. That difference alone made it clear to him that his state was incomplete.
He didn’t need the System to know about that.
"I really took such a dangerous route to become a Demigod, huh...?" Rex mumbled.
A small, sheepish smile graced his lips.
Anyone who opted for this path would most certainly walk the path to an early death.
Possessing divinity with an incomplete body meant they were invincible within the lesser realms, but they would be extremely weak in the God Realm. Rex could make this work—because he was a Scion from the Anger Stratum.
Any lethal attack would be blocked by the Absolute Anger Effect.
So, for him, it hardly matters whether he could sense immortal energy or not.
As long as he could keep the battle one-on-one, then he should be fine. Not to mention—his power was strong enough to take down a Demigod without the use of immortal energy, thanks to him being an Awakened Demigod.
Had that not been the case, he would never be able to survive in the God Realm.
Especially when learning to sense immortal energy would take years upon years.
It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that he might be the only one who walked this path and survived.
Now that his senses had been elevated by the Pure God Sense skill, allowing him to perceive immortal energy and bend it to his will—his body adapted to the use of such a powerful energy. It integrated that energy into every part of him, and he was far stronger for it.
Every muscle, bone, and energy channel was now filled with immortal energy.
One that existed in his divine space, as he had been an Awakened Demigod, but couldn’t be used.
At least, couldn’t be used until now.
Rex basked in his own crimson glory after finally achieving what he wanted—and then returned to the main platform. He landed softly within his own membrane and then turned to the sisters who were now staring at him like he was a different person.
"What?" He asked, raising a brow.
"Forgive my stare, Great Rex." Lilliana made a polite curtsy to mock him. "I was simply taking in your marvel with my lowly eyes."
"I kinda like being called that."
"I’m being sarcastic... Don’t even think about forcing me to call you that."
"Come on," Rex cackled, teasing Lilliana back. "Refer to me as Great Rex. Since you’re going to also be a proper Demigod soon enough, you shouldn’t be stingy about this."
"Not a chance." Lilliana rolled her eyes and sat back down, returning to her training.
On the other hand, Davina stared at him intensely.
And then she asked, "Can you kill a God now?’
"A God? Not yet." Rex rubbed his chin. "But we can say this is a big step closer to being able to. Why are you asking that?"
"You can only marry me when you offer me a God’s head, remember?" Davina flicked her hair smugly, and then sat back down to continue her training.
For the remainder of their time within the Temporal Labyrinth, the three continued to train, making use of this gift of skewed time to further increase their growth. Rex changed his focus to other branches of his powers.
Even though he now has immortal energy, it wouldn’t be enough.
Not enough to defeat Diamantona.
And once they ran out of time to continue training, the three opened the portal back to the obelisk and prepared themselves to make their next journey. Prepare themselves to enter the Great Pale Court and meet the Goddess of the Greater Moon, Aylith.
