Chapter 1333: An Unexpected Surprise

Chapter 1333: Chapter 1333: An Unexpected Surprise

Just as Lin Tian suspected, Davis was in contact with DS and the man from East Continent, and Pang Yu was right there, witnessing everything. Even though they conversed in fluent English, Pang Yu could understand.

Besides filming the conversation, Pang Yu also took additional notes, recording all the important things.

When Lin Tian called him to the reception room, Pang Yu placed the notebook in front of Lin Tian, sipping tea as he said, "That foreigner has already gone back."

Lin Tian made a non-committal sound and, after glancing at the notebook, roughly understood the situation. Nonetheless, he said to Pang Yu, "Let me see the video."

"Just a moment."

In no time, Pang Yu fetched a laptop, opened the video, and handed it to Lin Tian.

The video showed a small room where Davis sat on a soft ergonomic chair, while DS and his partner sat on cold benches.

Davis’s slick image in a suit compared to DS’s shabby, filthy appearance was the epitome of a tycoon versus a pauper!

This was the first time Lin Tian saw DS since the last underground card skill arena. Even in the video, DS’s tall stature was evident, though the exuberance once on his face was gone, and his beard looked unkempt and ugly. His eyes revealed a sleepy daze.

The drastic change was due to his recent misfortunes: three fingers were cut off, rendering his hand useless. He boldly placed it on the table, occasionally tapping it with the remaining two fingers, making the scene somewhat eerie.

Davis initially asked some irrelevant questions, steering clear of the main topic, clearly a master of negotiation and interrogation. Soon, he frustrated the two, especially DS, who spewed expletives, almost assaulting Davis.

Of course, that didn’t happen, as two black gold security guards pressed down on DS from behind.

Seeing the two so angry yet helpless, Davis was practically amused to death.

After a while, Davis revealed his identity, instantly draining all their anger or perhaps scaring them. Their expressions mirrored those of Zhang Ya’Er previously.

"I know you are veteran employees of the card skill arena, so you know the rules. I hope you cooperate." Davis spoke neutrally in standard English, legs crossed.

Hearing this, DS and the man from East Continent changed their expressions three times, suddenly fell to their knees with snot and tears, pleading, "We will cooperate, we swear! Please spare our families."

DS didn’t expect that despite hiding for so long, they still found him. Then his family... how difficult could it be?

"Very good. I need you to tell me about the fire in the card skill arena and the family study." Davis paused, then added, "Johnson, you speak."

Johnson was the blond-haired, blue-eyed man from the East Continent who stabbed Zhang Ya’Er in the back. He also looked haggard now, as Pang Yu and others hadn’t talked to him recently. He did help in finding DS.

Without thinking, Johnson blurted, "It was Du Dahai! Du Dahai told us to start the fire!"

Davis looked a bit bewildered because he didn’t know who Du Dahai was.

While others might hesitate, DS, good at reading faces, seemed to understand Davis’s thoughts. Before being asked, he proactively said, "Du Dahai died an unnatural death half a year ago. The family backing him is the famous Wang Group."

"Wang Group?"

Davis wasn’t surprised by this answer, having collected intelligence in Kanyue City for half a year including the Wang Group. Recently, the Wang Group’s chairman Wang Daoran was suspected of gambling and drugs, which Davis personally investigated, leading him to find the three men quickly.

Hearing this name was expected. However, multiple channels confirmed the Wang Group wasn’t the ultimate mastermind but a colossal entity hidden in the shadows, best left untouchable unless absolutely necessary.

"The study fire, was it also your doing?" Davis asked coldly.

The two exchanged glances, clearly unaware. Evidently, they knew nothing about that event. A family patriarch’s study catching fire could be significant and not publicizing it seemed normal.

Realizing these questions wouldn’t yield more information, Davis pulled out a diagram of a Luban lock, placing it before them and asked, "Recognize this?"

DS and Johnson both leaned forward, frowning at it.

Johnson stared for a long time before looking at Davis, asking, "Is this... some new gambling device?"

Initially, he wanted to ask if it was a toy, but that seemed unlikely, so gambling device was more apt.

Davis: "..."

DS commented, "Looks fun."

Davis: "..."

Knowing he would get nothing from these two useless men, Davis simply stopped asking, as further questions might infuriate him.

Davis arrived suddenly and left suddenly. Standing up from his chair, he departed, leaving DS and Johnson with only his back.

"Mr. Davis, please take us away from here." Johnson called out to the retreating figure.

Unfortunately, Davis never turned back, like he didn’t hear, disappearing around a corner...

DS and Johnson knew they were utterly abandoned, akin to sacrificial pieces in Celestial Dragon Continent chess, useless and expendable.

Why sacrificed?

Because in Kanyue City, Davis clearly had matters requiring black gold’s cooperation. Leaving the two there was the best decision, plus Lin Tian might not give them as he requested.

Now Davis anticipated tomorrow’s meeting with Zhang Ya’Er, hoping for surprises.

After the video ended, Lin Tian’s lips curled into a smile. Now, even without his instigation, Davis would target the Wang Family. The outcome was unexpected yet delightful.

Glancing at Pang Yu standing nearby, Lin Tian smiled, saying, "Send someone to monitor that foreigner and his subordinates."

"Right." Pang Yu murmured in acknowledgment and prepared to leave.

"Wait." Lin Tian suddenly stopped him, adding, "No need to conceal this matter. Even if they struggle in Kanyue City, they can sense certain things and ultimately deduce our involvement. Let them know openly."

"Right." Pang Yu murmured again.
