The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse

Castta met Klaus during the Paragon of Death’s era.

He was the elder brother of Sayuri, now known as Supreme Warrior Sayuri, who serves as one of the headmistresses of the Heavens Academy in the Milky Way Galaxy.

Back then, their home was ambushed by the Heavens Court for sheltering an injured ally of the Paragon. Many died, while those who survived were taken away to rehabilitation camps, where they were supposedly reformed into people who would hate the Paragon.

Of course, the rehabilitation program was merely a front for selecting able-bodied men and women to become Heaven’s warriors.

Castta was one of the lucky ones to be chosen... or perhaps one of the unlucky ones.

Regardless, he was selected and thoroughly brainwashed. Considering he was one of the most talented individuals of his generation, he rose through the ranks much faster than most.

Eventually, he was placed in command of a campaign against the Paragon. After countless battles, he finally succeeded by tricking his sister into believing he needed rescuing.

This led to an ambush that Orion couldn’t ignore.

The battle was fought between the Heavens Army, led by then-Vice General Castta, and four others: his sister, Sayuri; her sworn sisters, Xania and Xenia; and, finally, Klaus’ fifth incarnation, Orion.

Countless people perished. Sayuri and her sworn sisters fell in battle, while Orion was forced into an early retirement through reincarnation.

The eras passed, and during the Star Monarch’s era, Klaus searched for Castta. When they finally met again, Klaus managed to break the brainwashing.

However, instead of taking him away, Klaus left him within the Heavens Court so he could climb the ranks and secretly serve as his spy.

His position as the Fourth Heavens General was earned through his own talent, further amplified by the Star Monarch’s bloodline. He was one of the few humans who received Klaus’ blood during that era.

Today, they met once again.

On the other hand, Brenna was one of Mark’s step-siblings. Unlike his elder brother Matthew, however, she was among those who constantly looked down on him and ridiculed him for being their father’s illegitimate son.

She was one of the few who made sure Mark understood his place and never stepped out of line. She alone ensured he never had a moment’s peace.

Of course, after Mark became one of the greatest warriors of the Primordial Era, she stopped. But Mark would forever remember her as one of the people who had looked down on him.

In the past, Klaus had clashed with her many times, each encounter ending in her defeat. Every single time, she walked away with a handprint on her ass because the Paragon couldn’t bring himself to slap her across the face.

Regardless, after countless years, she had returned to his side.

"You know, I never expected to see you two this early. But since you sought me out, I suppose it’s for a good reason, huh?" Klaus asked, snapping the two generals out of their daze.

Ember had already managed to calm herself down, but she was still trying to process everything.

Castta smiled and nodded.

"We are indeed here for a reason. But that can wait. For now, I want to know how you’ve really been. Also... is my sister aware you’re back?"

He asked because, just like Klaus, he hadn’t truly died, meaning he still retained all of his memories.

While Klaus had assured him that his sister would eventually reincarnate, the chances of her retaining her memories were incredibly small. So he asked, knowing she might never remember him again, even if he introduced himself as her brother.

Klaus smiled and answered,

"Sayuri is fine and happy, which I know you’re already aware of. And yes, she has her memories back, so she’s aware of your existence. More importantly, she’s forgiven you for killing her. But it would still be a good idea to prepare a sincere apology before you meet her."

Castta took a deep breath, relieved to hear that his sister remembered him, knew he was still alive, and had forgiven him.

That was more than he had ever hoped to hear.

He couldn’t have been any happier.

"That is good. Really good," he said as he turned to General Brenna.

"This is my big brother. In the past, we were enemies, which, as you heard, led to the death of my sister and her friends. Luckily for me, instead of seeking revenge, he helped me regain my senses, and now I get a second chance with my only sister."

General Brenna nodded.

"I suppose the Paragon isn’t as bad as we were made to believe." She smiled slightly before revealing her own connection to him. "I knew him during the Primordial Era since he was friends with my brothers.

"We weren’t on good terms, but I got to witness how much he sacrificed for this universe, so you could say I was never brainwashed by the Heavens Court or the Celestial Supreme."

"Celestial Supreme, you say?" Klaus smirked. "It would be in your best interest to stop calling that fraud the Celestial Supreme, since we both know Matthew is the real deal."

General Brenna nodded.

Matthew was indeed the first-ever Celestial Supreme and one of the righteous ones. After him came a second Celestial Supreme, until Elorm took over, plunging that once-respected institution into the darkest depths of evil and menace.

The conversation soon shifted into a period of catching up, during which even Ember revealed her connection to Klaus. After a couple of minutes, all the tension between them had disappeared, leaving room for the main discussion.

General Castta finally revealed why they had come, and after hearing them out, Klaus merely laughed.

"You people are rather funny. Do you seriously think I have time to waste chasing after you? I mean, what exactly would I gain from killing you all?" Klaus smirked, slightly offended that they considered him so petty.

"The last thing I want is to eradicate such an organized legion when the universe, as we know it, is on the verge of collapse."

General Castta and General Brenna frowned upon hearing those words. But before either of them could ask what he meant by the universe coming to an end, Klaus continued.

"Look, I’m not someone who fails to see the bigger picture. Even if I were short-sighted, I’d still know that this universe will soon face devastating invasions. Without all of us working together, the universe will fall, and I cannot allow that to happen.

"Even if this universe hates me, I still have friends here who need to be protected. So go back and tell your people that I couldn’t care less what they do.

"I have no plans to attack any of you, so long as you don’t attack me first. That said, it would indeed be great if you could finally put an end to the demons’ infestation.

"What is coming requires us to stand united. We cannot afford to have the demons threatening that unity. So go ahead and launch your campaign against them. I’ll handle things from my side."

The two generals nodded, relieved to receive the Paragon’s official assurance that he had no intention of moving against the Heavens Legion.

Their greatest fear had been that he still harbored a grudge against them. But now that they understood both his intentions and his plans, they felt a great weight lifted from their shoulders.

"It would be good if you could meet with all of them and have a more detailed discussion," Ember suddenly said.

Klaus nodded.

"I don’t mind. They can send me an invitation, and I’ll be there."
