The Last Witch Lord

Chapter 410: Guarded in Advance, Yet Unstoppable

There were no longer any other elements inside Xiu Ye's corpse.

With a thought, Li Ban took out a useless Mortal Grade element from his Cubic Space and directly fused with it.

As the element entered his body, the white fuzz seemed to answer a summons, converging toward it through his bloodstream.

However, as soon as they touched the element, they scattered again, as if realizing this was not their intended target.

"It can target not only a person, but an element as well. No wonder it was so well hidden. Back when numerous white fuzzy vines were discovered throughout Yun Province, no one realized they were a trump card meant specifically for Priest Xiu Ye."

Observing the white fuzz moving through his body, Li Ban stood frozen in place for a long time.

By the time he snapped out of his daze, a layer of frost had condensed over his skin.

"If I stand here for two hours, I'll probably become an ice sculpture.

"Stand for a few days, and I'll end up encased in an ice crystal just like Priest Xiu Ye," he thought.

He stored the old man's corpse from the ground inside his Cubic Space.

After nearly half a month of trekking—their progress hindered by the heavy fog—Cat Girl and her group finally arrived at the location Xiu Ye had mentioned.

"The Mist Zone is just a few hundred li ahead," Priests Hao Yang and Hao Ze reported upon returning from their scouting run.

"Did you find the Medicine Furnace?" Priest Chu Qi asked, immediately standing up.

They had trekked a long way to get here, running into quite a few peculiar monsters along the way.

In contrast, the mud monsters that had previously chased them everywhere rarely showed up anymore.

They had been in the Nihility State for a month now; this was the furthest they had ever ventured into the territory, and the longest they had stayed.

Even though everyone had braced themselves before entering the Nihility State, they still felt exhausted.

An exhaustion of both mind and body.

"We found it," Priest Hao Ze said. "The Medicine Furnace is hidden among the dirt and dead grass. However—"

"Is there danger?" Priest Zhan Yan asked.

Priest Hao Yang said, "There is also an ice crystal there."

With another ice crystal present, it was highly likely that another Priest Xiu Ye would appear.

And since that ice crystal was so close to the Medicine Furnace, the Priest Xiu Ye inside might know more of the truth.

"That is a good thing," Priest Wu Hai said.

"But there is nothing there except dirt and dead grass. And that dirt is exactly what formed the mud monsters that have been attacking us."

Priest Ai Jing stood beside Priest Xiu Ye, while Priest Qian Jing stood beside Cat Girl.

"If all that mud turns into monsters, we'll have to hold our ground there before we can secure the Medicine Furnace." Priest Ai Jing thought for a moment. "Let's rest here first. The upcoming battle will be even harder."

With the location of the Medicine Furnace confirmed and no one else around, the group was not in a hurry to approach it. Instead, they took out their respective medicines and spiritual materials to replenish their spiritual rhinoceros.

The two brothers, Hao Ze and Hao Yang, were practically inseparable.

The younger brother sat on a rock and whispered to his older brother, "Didn't we come to the Nihility State to find Xiao Suo? But what Cat Girl sensed was Priest Xiu Ye, who had fused with the Chaos Element. Is Xiao Suo really here?"

"Xiao Suo is cunning; he could be anywhere," Hao Yang warned his brother. "Even when we're moving the Medicine Furnace or fighting, we cannot drop our guard."

Hao Ze smiled. "I'll definitely remember. I'm just worried that some people might get too eager to snatch the Medicine Furnace and momentarily forget their true purpose for entering the Nihility State."

Hao Yang knew his brother was referring to Zhan Yan and Chu Qi.

He lowered his eyes and offered no comment.

By a fluke of fate, he and his brother belonged to two different factions themselves.

If the two factions really started fighting over the Medicine Furnace, the two of them could only hang back on the sidelines and refrain from interfering.

After resting for two hours, everyone had largely returned to a state of full spiritual rhinoceros.

"Let's go." Priest Ai Jing assigned tasks and led the group toward the Medicine Furnace.

After walking a short distance, they finally spotted the Medicine Furnace Xiu Ye had mentioned, sitting right at the edge of the dense fog.

Had Priests Hao Yang and Hao Ze not pointed out its location beforehand, the Medicine Furnace would have been perfectly camouflaged, almost impossible to spot at first glance.

Upon seeing the Medicine Furnace, Priest Ai Jing's gaze shifted to the ice crystal located less than a zhang away.

"Shatter the ice crystal first."

Even though they had come for the Medicine Furnace, Priest Ai Jing decided to break the ice crystal first. This would prevent anything hidden inside from suddenly bursting out and ambushing them while they moved the furnace.

Taking the initiative, Priest Hao Yang stepped forward and loosed an arrow, carefully controlling its power to cleanly shatter the ice crystal.

However, the entity inside the ice crystal was neither Priest Xiu Ye nor any other monster they had seen before.

As the ice scattered, a small orb resembling white algae floated within.

Its fine, fuzz-like white filaments danced incessantly, bristling with activity.

"Careful!" Priest Qian Que hurriedly warned.

"That is a Chaos Element!" Cat Girl recognized it.

Her hair spread out uncontrollably, dancing just like those white algal filaments.

However, her hair did not lunge at the algal filaments; instead, it took up a defensive posture around her, as if sensing a threat.

"Do not approach it," Priest Ai Jing warned. "We still don't clearly understand the nature and threat level of this Chaos Element."

Even for a priest, fusing with the Chaos Element could very well lead to immediate death, just like what had happened to Xiu Ye!

After all, this was likely the Chaos Element that had destroyed all of Yun Province; it was unlike the weak Cyan Silk Algae that Cat Girl had fused with.

However, just as everyone raised their guard and dared not approach rashly, a figure suddenly shot forward.

While everyone's attention was fixed on the Chaos Element, Priest Qian Que had secretly been keeping an eye on Xiu Ye.

He was the first to notice that the person who had just charged forward was Xiu Ye.

Having been secretly on guard all along, Priest Qian Que immediately deployed his special domain as a Solar Priest.

Within this domain, everyone's speed slowed down, as if a slow-motion button had been pressed.

Xiu Ye, who had charged out, was less than a zhang away from the Chaos Element, but she was forced to slow down.

It looked as though she was about to lose the chance to snatch the Chaos Element.

But right at that moment, the Chaos Element actively rushed toward Xiu Ye.

"The Chaos Element fused within Xiu Ye's body and the Chaos Element in front of us share the same origin. They are attracting each other!"

What was even more terrifying was that Mutated Elements could alter world rules to a certain extent.

A Solar Priest, not yet capable of constructing a complete world, could only manipulate a few rules within their own immediate domain—they stood no chance against the Chaos Element before them.

With a mere thought from Priest Ai Jing, the surrounding mist immediately condensed into two giant hands, attempting to separate Xiu Ye and the Chaos Element.

However, while the mist-formed giant hands could stop Xiu Ye, they could not stop the Chaos Element on the other end.

Wherever the Chaos Element passed, the condensed mist dispersed once more, completely out of control.

Under these circumstances, the other priests were too far away to offer any immediate help.

And despite the two Solar Priests attacking one after another, neither could fend off the terrifying Chaos Element.

The floating little algal orb unexpectedly broke through the numerous magical obstacles and slammed violently into Priest Xiu Ye's body.

And after absorbing the little algal orb, Xiu Ye's next target was surprisingly the Medicine Furnace not far away!
