[Hyper Sense].

It was a power Arron had possessed since birth, a force that allowed him to perceive things others could not.

Thanks to it, whenever Arron activated [Hyper Sense], he gained an ability close to foresight.

But Arron had a secret about that power, one he had never even told his friends.

‘I hate this power.’

To be precise, he feared it.

Knowing things others did not know was far more painful than one might think.

Especially during the Era of Calamity.

From the moment he was born, he had instinctively felt the terror of the calamity that engulfed the world.

The reason he startled easily and was frightened by the smallest things was also because of those childhood experiences.

Because of that trauma, Arron had never once pushed his [Hyper Sense] to its absolute limit.

Only after meeting his master, training under him, and gaining some control over [Hyper Sense] was Arron finally able to escape that fear.

But as Arron grew stronger, his [Hyper Sense] also became sharper.

It developed to the point where, in battle, he could catch brief glimpses of the future.

And just before the final battle began,

Arron had witnessed the deaths of Kyle and Luna.

‘I hated it.’

Seeing the future.

‘I was terrified.’

Terrified that the future might be their defeat.

But no matter what, he had to find a way for Kyle and Luna to survive.

The path he found was his own death.

To others, it might have looked like a noble sacrifice made to save his friends.

‘But I was just selfishly throwing a tantrum at my hyung and noona... the people who were like family to me.’

Arron gritted his teeth.

‘I’m just a coward who chose the easy, comfortable path.’

And then, after seeing the future that had been saved, he selfishly felt relieved.

Without even knowing that Leo was still carrying the burden he left behind, he had declared that since the world was saved, he would go find what he wanted to do.

‘Just as Kyle suffered because of my death... Kyle must have suffered because of my death too!’

The fact that he was only realizing it now made him loathe himself so much his whole body trembled.

Desperately, he tried to open [Hyper Sense] and see the future, to somehow change it.

And now, that [Hyper Sense] was gone.

More precisely, it had dulled.

Sight, smell, hearing, touch, taste.

His finely honed senses still delivered an enormous amount of information.

But the combat sense that bordered on foresight had disappeared.

It was the result of overloading his ability through excessive use.

After hearing Erebos’s words, Arron had pushed [Hyper Sense] too far.

Even though he struggled desperately to see the future, he couldn’t.

‘Maybe... it’s because I’m fake.’

Arron clenched his teeth.

God had died long ago.

The self that existed here was nothing more than a record from the Hero Record.

Whoosh-!

Arron burst through the black flames.

Wearing a savage expression, he charged at Erebos and swung his sword.

“Hahp!”

Crash-!

Golden Aura sliced through Erebos’s body.

-You think such a dull blade can cut me?!

Erebos roared and backhanded Arron away.

Thud-!

“Ghk?!”

With [Hyper Sense] dulled, he failed to predict Erebos’s movement.

Taking the blow head-on, an immense shock ran through his entire body.

It was nothing more than a simple physical strike.

But that single attack carried enough force to crush both body and mind and shatter the soul.

Whoosh! Crash-!

Blown away by Erebos’s strike, Arron slammed into the ground.

Leo hurried toward Arron.

“Arron!”

Crash! Thud-!

As Arron crashed into the ground, the dust and shattered stones thrown into the air came raining back down.

Swish-!

Arron rose to his feet and spoke.

“Kyle. Prepare [Innocent].”

“Are you okay? You don’t look good.”

“I’m fine.”

Arron glared at Erebos.

“Trust me. I won’t be a burden anymore!”

“What? Hey! Arron!”

“Graaahhh!”

Ignoring Leo’s urgent call, Arron let out a [Howling], as if trying to encourage himself, and charged again.

“That idiot!”

Watching Arron’s back, Leo gritted his teeth.

“Why would Arron-nim say something like that?”

Melina looked bewildered.

“He’s been shaken by Erebos’s words. Arron’s the type to lose heart easily.”

Leo knew better than anyone that the friend he thought of as a younger brother was soft-hearted and kind to a fault.

“Will he be all right?”

Melina’s eyes trembled.

At her question, Leo took a deep breath and answered.

“He’ll be fine.”

Leo looked at Arron’s back.

“Among all of us, Arron is the one who faced the most setbacks. But he’s also the one who overcame the most trials.”

There was not a trace of doubt in Leo’s voice.

“Arron isn’t the type to collapse because of words like that.”

With absolute trust, Leo said,

“Melina, go deal with the Demonic Beasts.”

“Yes!”

The Hero Candidates defending the castle turned pale at the sight of the endless swarm of Demonic Beasts.

“There are too many!”

“It’s even more than the Monster Queen’s legion we fought last year!”

Anxious voices rose from the Lumene and Seiren students.

Seeing them, Rhys shouted as flame Aura blazed around him.

“Don’t be intimidated just because there are a lot of them! Compared to the Monster Queen’s legion last time, there may be more of them, but each individual one is weaker!”

The moment Rhys shouted, the party members who had been fighting Erebos in the sky arrived.

“I’ll help! Wiping out large numbers is my specialty.”

Torua grinned as she spoke.

“Magic Department, assemble! Prepare a joint spell!”

At her command, the first and second-year students of the Magic Department moved in unison.

“Seiren, get ready too!”

Riennia also began directing the Seiren students.

“Knight Department, together with Azonia and Damienne, stop the Demonic Beasts climbing the walls!”

As Li Jamua took command and stepped forward, Ar raised her fist beside him.

“We can’t show Arron-nim something pathetic! Azonia students, forward!”

“You bratty cat! Giving orders is my job?!”

“Gyaah!”

Vanir pulled Ar into a headlock.

Ulta gathered the Summoners and split them between the knights and the mages.

Amid all that, Carr, standing atop the wall, swallowed dryly.

“They may not be as strong as the Monster Queen’s legion... but there are way too many of them.”

Last time, the Monster Queen’s legion had been powerful, but their allied forces had also been strong.

The heroes of humans and elves, the Hero Candidates of Lumene and Seiren, and even the legends who had dominated entire eras.

Compared to that, their current forces consisted of Hero Candidates alone.

At Carr’s mutter, Chelsea tightened her grip on her staff.

“It’s okay.”

Since Carr and Chelsea were not suited to joint spells, they took on the role of holding back the monsters on the wall.

“We have Dragon Lord Melina, don’t we?”

As she said that, a vast surge of Magic Power twisted through the sky.

Around Melina, her original silver Magic Power and the black Magic Power she had inherited from Lysinas shimmered together.

Thump-thump-

Melina’s Dragon Heart beat fiercely, pouring out Magic Power.

The space around her began to distort.

Seeing that, Chelsea swallowed dryly.

“Melina, the Silent Dragon. We forgot because she hasn’t shown herself for so long... but she’s someone who challenged the World of Genesis. Even if that challenge ended in failure.”

Crackle-!

The space around Melina distorted so violently that it began to crack.

“She’s evaluated as one of the strongest Dragon Lords in the history of the Age of Heroes.”

As Chelsea finished speaking, Melina whispered softly.

“[Silence].”

The creations of Erebos, which had been charging toward the walls with savage momentum, froze in place for an instant.

The Demonic Beasts that had stopped moving looked around at one another in confusion.

Then, one by one, they began turning into white powder and vanishing.

It was literally a chilling sight.

A legion-scale force from Tartarus quietly vanished from a single spell.

Everyone looked at Melina with eyes full of awe.

Melina landed on the wall.

Right in front of Carr and Chelsea.

Her veil fluttered in the wind.

“Everyone. Do not be afraid.”

Melina spoke in a powerful voice.

“As long as I am here, these walls will not fall.”

At those words, the Hero Candidates raised their weapons and cheered.

“Wooaaahhh!”

“Dragon Lord!”

Morale soared instantly at Melina’s overwhelming presence.

“Wow... She’s like a goddess.”

“Thank you, Carr.”

Hearing Carr’s mutter, Melina smiled brightly and greeted him.

For a moment, Melina’s face became slightly visible beneath her veil.

Carr flinched when he saw it.

It was a somewhat familiar face.

The apparent age was clearly different.

But the atmosphere matched someone Carr knew exactly.

With a ‘Could it be?’ expression, Carr asked,

“Professor Mel?”

Chelsea, standing beside him, also widened her eyes and looked at Carr.

At Carr’s reaction, Melina put a finger to her lips and quietly said,

“Shh-!”

Without realizing it, Carr and Chelsea copied Melina’s gesture.

Meanwhile, the Demonic legion continued to be summoned without end.

And just as Melina and the Hero Candidates were about to gather their strength once more,

Whoooosh-! Craaash!

Something flew in and slammed into the wall.

Everyone flinched and looked toward the collapsed section of the wall.

Thud-!

Arron rose from there.

“Damn it!”

An agitation utterly unlike him showed on Arron’s face.

The sword in his hand had melted away without a trace.

A savage Aura flickered in Arron’s eyes.

At that intensity, everyone involuntarily stepped back.

With a twisted expression, Arron glared in the direction he had come from.

Erebos stood there, his body mangled beyond recognition by Arron’s attacks.

But as Erebos writhed, he soon returned to his original form.

Arron threw away the completely ruined sword and, almost unconsciously, pulled another sword from the Subspace bracelet Luna had made for him.

Then he stopped.

Gritting his teeth, he stared at the sword in his hand.

What lay there was the broken Brave.

“This sword won’t do!”

Clang-!

Arron violently threw Brave aside.

There was no trace of his usual gentle, pure appearance.

Arron’s face was twisted with ferocity and impatience.

“A-Arron-nim...”

Ar turned pale at the sight of this side of Arron, so different from the one she knew.

“Don’t worry. Just wait.”

Groooow-!

Golden Aura shimmered from Arron’s body.

“I’ll take care of that.”

The voice that came out was filled with ferocity.

That appearance was the Arron Ar had known before entering Azonia.

A figure like a beast on the battlefield.

A warrior who faced the enemy without fear even in desperate situations.

Hero Arron, with his overwhelming martial prowess.

“W-wait! Arron-nim!”

Ar called out desperately, but Arron kicked off the ground and charged straight at Erebos, who had already recovered.

He held no sword.

But when Arron shot toward Erebos at a speed too fast to see and threw a punch, Erebos’s massive body was blasted into the sky.

“Amazing...!”

Borman cried out in admiration.

“So that’s the Hero’s true form.”

As Lewen muttered in awe,

“No...”

Ar gritted her teeth.

“What?”

“That’s not Arron-nim’s true self!”
