This happened some time after Dweno joined, when the party of Great Heroes had finally taken its complete form.

The regions where the Great Heroes were active gradually began to stabilize, emerging from despair and chaos.

Among them, the first place to regain stability was Guardslone, which the Great Heroes had made their base.

It was around that time that Lysinas, who had long been ridiculed as a fool, was inaugurated as the lord of Guardslone.

One day, while she was busy stabilizing the administration, Kyle came to her with a request.

“You want me to teach you Summoning?”

Lysinas, who had been processing documents, looked at Kyle in surprise.

“Why all of a sudden?”

“I saw your Spirit Magic during the last battle, and it got me thinking. It seems like it would be a great help in future battles if I could use it.”

“Hmph?”

At Kyle’s words, Lysinas rested her chin on one hand, narrowed her eyes, and twisted her lips slightly.

“And now you come to me after refusing when I offered to teach you Summoning because you said you didn’t need it?”

Lysinas scoffed.

“That’s because I couldn’t understand the concept of Summoning you were explaining.”

“What about Luna and Arron? Aren’t their explanations even harder to understand than mine?”

Kyle had already sought instruction from Luna and Arron.

But even before that, Lysinas had offered to teach Kyle Summoning.

He had refused at the time.

'Your explanation is too difficult. I don’t need it.'

As Lysinas scowled at the memory, Kyle spoke.

“It’s true that their explanations are full of things I can’t understand. That’s why I’m learning with my body and forcefully cramming the Spell Formulas into my head. I can understand them to some extent that way. But the concept of Summoning you explained isn’t something I can grasp just by memorizing it. Besides, I was already using the Spirit Magic you use, even if only barely, so I didn’t really feel the need.”

“Aha, is that so?”

Lysinas answered coyly, but she acknowledged that part.

Kyle had tried to imitate Luna’s and Arron’s martial arts just by watching them, but he had failed.

In contrast, Kyle had been rather good at imitating Lysinas’s Spirit Magic.

“Why can you imitate my Spirit Magic, but not Luna’s and Arron’s?”

“I’ve watched you the longest, and out of all my comrades, I watch you the most.”

“Ah, is that so?”

Lysinas answered indifferently as she turned her gaze away from Kyle and looked out the window.

At her lukewarm reaction, Kyle let out a small sigh.

Lysinas didn’t seem to have any intention of teaching him Summoning at all.

'He watches me the most?'

But Lysinas’s mood had brightened a little.

No, a lot.

Though Kyle couldn’t see it, her legs were cheerfully swinging under the desk.

Truthfully, Lysinas had been feeling a little resentful toward Kyle lately.

'He keeps sticking to Luna the most, saying he’s learning Magic.'

He used to visit her often when she first became lord, but after he began training under Luna and Arron, seeing his face had become a rare thing.

Of course, she had no intention of blaming him for it.

'It’s definitely a good thing that Kyle has become more motivated. Even so, we’re the founding members of the subjugation squad. Can’t he at least pay a little attention to me?'

She wanted to teach him Summoning.

She wanted time alone with Kyle.

But before that, she also wanted to tease him a little.

“Even if I wanted to teach you, I’m too busy right now to make time for it.”

“If you’re okay with it, I don’t mind if it’s late at night. Should I come to your house? If you don’t want me coming into your space without permission, then you can come to my house instead.”

'At night? To my house?'

“Hee-hee-hmm~ Hmm~ Hmm~”

Her mood lifting even more, Lysinas hummed a little tune.

But to Kyle, it only looked like she was pretending not to care.

Just as Kyle’s brow furrowed even more at the sight…

“I suppose it wouldn’t be so bad to teach you.”

Lysinas smiled brightly.

“Come to my house tonight if you have time. I’ll teach you the Unlocking Spell Formula for the door.”

“Do you really need to go as far as teaching me the Unlocking Spell Formula?”

“It’s annoying having to undo it every time you come. Ah, of course, if you sneak in while I’m away, I’ll kill you.”

“Do you really think I’d do something like that?”

“It’s fine if you come by when you’re bored or have something on your mind. I’ll be your conversation partner or drinking buddy anytime.”

“I appreciate that. Ah, but.”

“Hm?”

“Do I even have talent for Spirit Magic? I should probably figure that out before I start learning.”

At those words, Lysinas flinched inwardly.

'Kyle has no talent for Spirit Magic.'

She remembered what she had once said to Luna, who had been curious about Kyle being an All-Class.

'Lysinas, do you think he might be able to use Spirit Magic too?'

'Kyle has no talent for Spirit Magic. He’d probably have to die and be reborn first.'

'Oho? So he’s not completely omnipotent, huh.'

Just as she had said, Kyle had absolutely no talent for Spirit Magic.

So there was no way he would be able to use Spirit Magic simply by learning it.

Lysinas just wanted to have some private time with Kyle.

More importantly, she was jealous of how close Kyle and Luna had become, like siblings.

“There’s no way to know for sure. The potential of your All-Class is limitless. I think there’s still a possibility.”

“I see.”

Kyle nodded.

“Then I’ll come over tonight.”

“Tonight?”

'The study is a mess. Should I clean it up a little? No, more importantly, do I even have any decent clothes?'

While Lysinas was caught up in all kinds of worries…

“Hellooo!”

Luna entered Lysinas’s office.

“Kyle! Tonight, I shall personally give you a special private lesson! You should feel honored!”

“I don’t need it. You’re just planning to come to my house, get drunk, and make a mess again, aren’t you? Don’t ever come to my house again.”

Kyle frowned deeply.

“What’s with that attitude toward your teacher! How insolent!”

“Teacher, my ass. I’m helping you create your Magic Formulas too. This is a give-and-take relationship.”

Kyle shoved Luna’s face away as she grabbed him and shook him wildly.

Luna repeatedly pinched Kyle’s hand.

“Besides, I already have plans tonight.”

“Plans? A drinking appointment with that dirty old man and Arron?”

“No, with Lysinas.”

“Lysinas?”

Looking slightly taken aback, Luna glanced back and forth between Kyle and Lysinas.

“Kyle asked me to teach him Summoning.”

“Really? Then I want to learn too.”

Luna smiled brightly.

She was also a summoner contracted with a fairy.

Lysinas became flustered at Luna’s reaction.

“Luna, I’ll teach you separately next time.”

“Right. You can teach her separately next time. I’m learning Summoning today.”

At Kyle’s words, Luna’s eyes widened.

“You pestered Lysinas and forced her into teaching you, didn’t you? In your dreams.”

“What?”

“Lysinas already said it. That for you to use Spirit Magic, you’d have to wait until your next life.”

Luna crossed her arms with a triumphant look.

“Stop your pointless struggle and just learn Magic from me!”

At Luna’s words, Kyle narrowed his eyes and stared at Lysinas.

“Hey, you scammer lizard. You were just messing with me, weren’t you?”

“No, I was really thinking about your potential, just in case…!”

“Isn’t it just because your usual behavior is so bad that Lysinas is being nasty to you?”

Luna clicked her tongue and looked at Kyle like he was pathetic.

Kyle grabbed one of Luna’s cheeks and pulled.

“What do you think you’re doing!”

Her eyes blazing, Luna yanked at Kyle’s hair.

Lysinas looked at Luna with a slightly resentful gaze.

After that, the chance to learn Summoning never came again.

===

Leo pondered as he recalled the past.

'Was that just an auditory hallucination?'

In his past life and in this one, he had not been born with any talent for Spirit Magic.

'But it was far too vivid to be a hallucination.'

It had felt as though Lysinas herself had spoken to him.

Just as Leo frowned…

“Master, is something wrong? You look serious.”

Lily, who had approached his side, asked quietly.

“I was thinking about Spirit Magic.”

“Spirit Magic?”

Lily’s eyes widened.

“Isn’t that completely in the realm of talent? Don’t tell me, Master, you can use Spirit Magic too?”

“No.”

'If I could use Spirit Magic too, I might have been able to completely finish off Erebos.'

A bitter expression crossed Leo’s face.

'In the first place, the reason I couldn’t finish him off completely was because I was lacking.'

When they subjugated Erebos, the essence of the power his comrades had built up had all been poured into the vessel called Kyle.

With that power as his foundation, Kyle defeated Erebos.

But in the end, it had only been borrowed power.

Kyle had never been able to fully make that power his own.

'The power inside the vessel only became stronger. It wasn’t the vessel called ‘me’ that became stronger.'

In terms of pure combat ability, Kyle’s martial arts could never reach Arron’s.

Naturally, his Magic could never reach Luna’s domain, and his Summoning was no match for Lysinas’s either.

'And it’s not like I could have taken Dweno’s place as the shield.'

If he had reached the ultimate domain of even one of his comrades, it would not have ended with merely sealing Erebos.

Leo looked down at his hands.

'As an All-Class, I had to gather all of my abilities together just to stand shoulder to shoulder with them.'

In a sense, even that had not been achieved purely by his own power.

'I only followed the paths they had already carved out.'

He did not have the ability to pioneer uncharted territory himself.

'Whenever I ran into my limits, wasn’t it always them who opened a new path for me to move forward?'

He had always been good at watching and imitating.

Even in the final battle with Erebos, Leo had only been imitating his comrades.

A prime example was Arron’s true power, which came from his Hyper Sense.

Arron’s Hyper Sense had reached the ultimate state, to the point where he could glimpse fragments of the future, but Leo had yet to step into that domain.

Likewise, to perfectly understand Lysinas’s Summoning, one had to be able to use Spirit Magic.

'If that wasn’t a hallucination, but really Lysinas’s voice.'

Earlier, as a reward for clearing Lysinas’s world, Leo had obtained Lysinas’s Mana Essence.

If that power awakened and he gained the aptitude of a summoner…

'Wouldn’t that mean I could reach the same level as Lysinas?'

While Leo was deep in thought…

“We’re here.”

Jeremin brought his horse to a stop.

The ruins known as the Graveyard of the Vanquished.

Perhaps it had once been an old fortress, because within the vast walls was a wide open area.

When they entered, they saw many boys and girls there, gripping spears and shouting spiritedly.

It looked exactly like military training.

Leo and Lily looked at Jeremin in confusion.

“These children are all war orphans. They are the darkness of this country, children who have had everything taken from them their entire lives.”

Jeremin’s expression hardened.

“The ones who hold military authority in this country have long been running orphanages.”

“Isn’t that a good thing?”

Lily tilted her head.

“On the surface, yes.”

A look of disgust crept onto Jeremin’s face.

“But their orphanages were a type of military facility.”

“What?”

“They were training camps for raising strong soldiers. They gathered young orphans so they could send them to the battlefield once they came of age.”

All expression vanished from Lily’s face.

Leo crossed his arms.

“I’ll state my terms for the deal.”

Taking a deep breath, Jeremin stood before Leo and Lily and said,

“Please stop those children from being sent to the battlefield.”

“That’s easy. We just need to smash the heads of the higher-ups right now!”

As Lily growled, Leo opened his mouth.

“It won’t end there.”

“What?”

Lily faltered.

“Those kids will want to go to the battlefield of their own accord.”

“Why?”

“Because that’s how they were taught and raised.”

Answering the bewildered Lily, Leo looked at Jeremin.

“Crown Prince Jeremin, I have a question.”

“What is it?”

“This plan to raise war orphans into soldiers… how many years ago did it begin?”

“It would have been five years ago.”

“Are those children the first generation?”

“How did you know that?”

Leo had seen this scene before.

Five thousand years ago, in the refugee city of Reysar.

And he knew exactly who had done something like this.

'The Archduke of Funeral, Atkan.'
