Chapter 164: 164.

The full moon rose into the nightsm sky, shining it’s borrowed light into the world below.

At that moment, Lin Xuan was already on his way to Clearbrook City.

He was dressed entirely in black, his usual spear nowhere to be seen and instead of his usual spear, a sword rested at his side.

The journey was proceeding quietly when Lin Xuan suddenly came to a stop.

He glanced toward the forest beside the road.

"Come out."

A moment later, a familiar figure emerged from among the trees.

It was the blind snake.

Its body moved slowly across the ground until it came to a stop before Lin Xuan.

Although it had no eyes, its head was raised toward him, giving the strange impression that it was staring directly at him.

Lin Xuan frowned.

He carefully spread his spiritual sense through the surrounding forest but could not sense the other two snakes.

Either their ability to conceal themselves was exceptional, or the blind snake had come here alone.

The snake lifted its head and released several low hisses before it fell silent.

Lin Xuan stared at it for a moment.

"What does this snake want?"

His gaze lingered on its empty eye sockets.

"The eyes?"

He thought for a moment before reaching into his storage treasure.

Fortunately, he had no further use for them.

Lin Xuan took out the pair of eyes and casually tossed them toward the blind snake.

The snake immediately reacted.

Its head snapped toward the falling objects, and its body moved forward to catch them.

The blind snake lowered its head and coiled around the two eyeballs, carefully keeping them between the coils of its body.

It then raised its head and turned toward Lin Xuan.

A few more hisses escaped its mouth.

Lin Xuan watched it for a moment before understanding what it wanted.

"Fine."

He crouched down beside it and carefully took one of the eyeballs.

The blind snake remained completely still as Lin Xuan brought it toward the empty socket.

With a steady hand, he carefully placed the eyeball into position.

He then picked up the second one and repeated the process, ensuring that it was properly seated within the other socket.

Once he finished, Lin Xuan withdrew his hand and looked at the snake.

"There. Is that what you wanted?"

The blind snake remained still for several breaths.

Then it lowered its head slightly and released a quiet hiss.

Lin Xuan ignored it this time and instead rose into the air and flew away.

Yet beneath him, the forest suddenly erupted into movement.

The massive snake emerged from beneath the trees and began making a mad dash through the forest, following his direction.

Lin Xuan glanced down.

What the heck...

He frowned slightly but quickly decided to ignore it.

Before long, the distant outline of Clearbrook City appeared beneath the moonlight.

Lin Xuan descended before reaching the city and continued forward on foot, his black robes blending naturally into the darkness.

When he looked back, the massive snake had stopped far behind him.

It remained outside the city, its enormous body partially concealed among the darkness of the surrounding forest.

It’s not that stupid to follow me into a crowded city, huh.

Lin Xuan shook his head before turning away.

He no longer paid attention to the creature.

His figure gradually disappeared into the shadows as he entered Clearbrook City.

The city was still bustling despite the late hour.

After traveling through several streets, he finally arrived near the estate.

The Su Family manor occupied an expansive section of Clearbrook City. Tall walls surrounded the entire residence, with several grand buildings rising behind them.

The architecture was refined and imposing, displaying the wealth and influence of one of Clearbrook City’s two dominant cultivation families.

Tonight, however, the manor was particularly lively.

Firelight illuminated the entire estate.

Large braziers had been placed throughout the courtyards, their flames dancing against the night sky. Rows of lanterns hung beneath the eaves of the buildings, casting warm light across the stone pathways.

The main courtyard had been transformed into a grand gathering.

Tables had been arranged throughout the open space, laden with spirit fruits, delicacies, and wine. Cultivators from various families sat together, exchanging pleasantries and discussing matters of cultivation.

Laughter occasionally rang through the courtyard.

The Su Family had clearly spared no expense.

Tonight was not merely a gathering of their own people.

Guests from several other cultivation families had arrived to witness the Martial Spirit awakening ceremony and were being entertained within the manor.

The younger generation gathered together in small groups while elders sat in separate areas, speaking in low voices about the upcoming ceremony.

From time to time, servants passed through the courtyard carrying fresh dishes and spirit wine.

At the center of it all, members of the Su Family moved between the guests, welcoming them with practiced courtesy.

The atmosphere was one of celebration.

Lin Xuan remained hidden, quietly observed the manor for several breaths.

After waiting for a while, Lin Xuan quietly slipped around to the rear of the Su Family estate.

The celebration was concentrated around the main courtyard, leaving the more secluded areas of the manor considerably quieter.

Taking advantage of the commotion, he moved through the shadows and gradually made his way toward the Su Family treasury.

He had only traveled a short distance when two figures suddenly appeared in the courtyard ahead.

Lin Xuan immediately stopped and concealed himself.

The two figures walked through the courtyard hand in hand.

The young woman leaned closer to Su Haolang, her fingers gently tightening around his.

"You were the one who insisted on coming here tonight," she murmured. "Why are you suddenly so quiet?"

Su Haolang glanced at her from the corner of his eye, a faint smile appearing on his face.

"Because you’re distracting me."

She raised an eyebrow and gave him a playful look.

"Is that my fault?"

Su Haolang chuckled as he squeezed her hand.

"Whose fault would it be?"

The woman tugged lightly on his arm, forcing him to slow his steps.

"You always have an excuse."

Su Haolang shook his head, his smile growing slightly.

"And you always find a reason to complain."

She moved a little closer to him, resting her shoulder against his arm.

"Perhaps I wouldn’t complain if you paid more attention to me."

Su Haolang stopped walking and turned toward her and looked down at her for several moments.

"Do you really want more attention?"

The woman lowered her gaze, a faint smile appearing at the corner of her lips.

"Maybe."

Su Haolang laughed quietly and resumed walking, his fingers tightening around hers.

"You really are troublesome."

She looked up at him.

"And yet you’re still holding my hand."

Su Haolang glanced down at their intertwined fingers.

"I never said I disliked it."

Their voices gradually faded as they continued across the courtyard.

Lin Xuan, who had been concealed nearby, stared at the pair.

Isn’t that Su Haolang?

His gaze shifted toward the young woman.

Who’s that girl? She’s too young to be Su Qixi, his wife.

Before he could figure out her identity, the two reached the entrance of the treasury.

They exchanged a glance before slipping inside.

Lin Xuan’s eyes narrowed.

He waited for several breaths before quietly following them.

His figure passed through the entrance without making the slightest sound, and he silently entered the Su Family treasury behind them.

The interior was considerably quieter than the courtyard outside. Rows of shelves lined the walls, each holding boxes, jade bottles, and various cultivation resources carefully arranged by value.

He moved deeper into the treasury when a faint sound reached his ears.

Lin Xuan stopped and glanced toward the front.

The two figures had stopped near the entrance.

The young woman had turned toward Su Haolang, and the two were now kissing. Su Haolang seemed completely absorbed in the moment, one hand resting against her waist as he pulled her closer.

Lin simply looked away.

Convenient.

Taking advantage of the situation, he quietly continued deeper into the treasury.

His steps were light, and his spiritual sense carefully spread through the surroundings without disturbing the formations protecting the treasures.

This is too much of a coincidence.

He had come here specifically to investigate the Su Family’s Golden Core experts, yet he had unexpectedly encountered Su Haolang sneaking into his own family’s treasury with a mysterious young woman.

Lin Xuan had no intention of assuming that this was merely an ordinary tryst.

Still, whatever the two were doing here, he would keep his attention on his own objective first.

He continued deeper into the treasury, gradually putting more distance between himself and the pair.
