The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 1949 - 531: Still Lost to True Arrogance (Part 3)

With a loud "bang," the door slammed shut heavily behind him.

The Knight prototype who, a second ago, was in control, was instantly frightened out of his wits, letting out a pig-slaughtering scream.

"Don't kill me! The money is in the drawer in the study, there's probably two hundred silver pounds, feel free to take it!"

A hand wearing a leather glove covered his mouth, stopping the plea that was about to spill out.

"Quiet, Mr. Newcastle, we beg you."

The man standing on the left lowered his voice and took off the low-pressed felt hat on his head, revealing a weathered face with resolute eyes.

"We are not robbers, nor are we mobs. My name is Bal, I am a stone mason. His name is Nate, and he's also a stone mason."

Newcastle's terrified gaze flickered twice, confirming the others had no intention of pulling out knives, and only then signaled them to release him.

He tidied up the crumpled collar, his heart still pounding fiercely, yet the rationality of a merchant had already quickly returned.

He scrutinized the two men in front of him, clad in thick, worn coats, still carrying the chill and a persistent odor of coal smoke, looking like any factory's foreman or a teacher in a secondary school.

"You... are Roland City citizens?"

"Yes!"

"Then you should write to the Stone Masonry Guild's Chairman Shalt, I remember he's your Member of Parliament, he has an obligation to respond to your letters... you've come to the wrong person!"

"Obligation..."

Nate laughed sarcastically, as if he heard a joke.

Yet this time Newcastle couldn't laugh, because this rough Ryan man was even more rude than what Miss Langbane described in her letter.

He swallowed hard, trying to negotiate.

"Listen, gentlemen, it doesn't matter what kind of grievances there are, I'm just a Member of Parliament, I really can't help you. But since you've come to me, I can give you some money, at least to solve your immediate difficulties... I swear by Saint Sis, I won't report you to the guards."

Mr. Bal, the first to speak, coughed, interrupting him.

Seeing that he seemed easier to communicate with than the one called Nate, Newcastle quickly cast a pleading look at him.

However, Mr. Bal ultimately disappointed Newcastle.

"Mr. Newcastle, we know you're wealthy, but money can't solve our problems."

Newcastle let out a painful groan.

Saint Sis above...

Has it really come to this day?

The enraged souls have boiled to the point where not even money can buy them, they only want to light a bigger fire.

Exactly as he predicted, the supposedly most rational man, was speaking, in his calm tone, words that might even desecrate the Demon.

"The King treats us like livestock, the Nobles like air. First, it was Laine Iron Coins, now it's some clumps of soil meant to deceive us, you know what I'm talking about, those copper coins. I tried to petition at the Summer Palace, but they almost broke my legs. Later, I learned they were discussing the cooking method for squab inside, that's not cooking squab, it's clearly cooking us all!"

"Who... leaked this to you?"

"A cook."

Newcastle closed his eyes in despair, regretting for joking at the banquet, wishing he could slap himself.

It wasn't his proposal, he just mentioned it casually in the banquet hall, but who would've thought someone crazier than him actually brought it to the conference table.

However, those big-mouthed cooks hadn't leaked his name, they only relayed it to the outsiders jokingly.

And Mr. Bal didn't smile either, but stated seriously.

"I went to Saint Roland Fitz Church School to find Professor Ferguson, but I was told he was invited to Thunder City University to compile the Encyclopedia, and is no longer in this city. You are the only person we can trust, that cook told us, as long as you treat us as humans."

Newcastle wanted to say it must be a misunderstanding, rather than treating Ryan people as humans, Ryan people are humans by nature.

He was simply speaking from a human standpoint, saying what humans should say, how did he get tied to this mad group's banner?

Do they know who his backer is!?

As soon as he mentions it to Sir Skidgin, the Royal Guard will hang these criminals who broke into a Member of Parliament's house tomorrow.

But judging by the expressions of these two brothers, they seem not to care whether they die today or tomorrow... he better shut up.

Looking at the silent Newcastle Member of Parliament, Bal wasn't discouraged, but pulled out a booklet from his coat pocket, it was the first volume of the Encyclopedia.

Clearly written on it was the entry about the King, he flipped to that page. Newcastle clearly saw that page was heavily marked.

Okay, His Majesty Theoden is a genius, forcing a group of guys who should be sitting in a bar drinking beer singing songs, to learn things irrelevant to them.

"... This is the Encyclopedia Ferguson Professor helped compile, only after we read what he said did we realize what the Nobles stole from our hands."

Newcastle: "The first volume doesn't have Professor Ferguson's signature, strictly speaking it's not what he said—"

"The important thing is not the signature, but the content inside, we finally understand where our pain comes from."

Silent Nate interrupted the stunned Newcastle. He completely ignored the latter's astonishment and continued speaking in his low, hoarse voice.
