Chapter 225: Chapter 225 Using old dirty tricks

_Brielle’s POV_

My hands were shaking so violently against the steering wheel that the car kept swaying from side to side on the road.

My heart was pounding like a hammer against my ribs, and my throat was dry as dust.

I had actually done it, I had pressed my foot all the way down on the gas pedal and driven straight at Rowena.

In my mind, I could still hear the loud sound of the engine, the shriek of the tires on the pavement, and the sight of her standing in the middle of the street.

I wanted to crush her.

I wanted to erase her smug, arrogant face from the earth forever.

But then that strange man had jumped out of nowhere and pulled her out of the way at the very last second.

I stomped on the brakes as I pulled into the garage of our family’s estate. I turned off the engine, ripped off my sunglasses, and leaned my forehead against the steering wheel, trying to get my breathing under control.

Panic was clawing at my chest. What if someone saw the car? What if Alaric’s guards found out it was me? No, that was impossible. The car belonged to an old untraceable family member, and the windows were tinted pitch black. Nobody had seen my face.

I quickly wiped the sweat from my forehead, grabbed my purse, and hurried inside through the side door.

"Brielle?"

I froze in the middle of the hallway. My mother was standing near the foot of the stairs, holding a cup of tea. She took one look at my pale face, my messy hair, and my trembling hands, and her eyebrows pulled down in concern.

"Where have you been?" She asked, stepping closer to me. "Why do you look like you just saw a ghost? Why are you shaking like that?"

I swallowed hard, forcing my voice to sound as calm as possible. "I am fine, Mother. I just went out for a drive. My wolf was feeling restless after everything that happened at the hospital, that’s all."

I tried to brush past her toward the stairs, but she reached out and grabbed my wrist tightly, stopping me in my tracks. She looked into my wide, panicked eyes, and her face went completely pale as a terrible thought entered her mind.

"Brielle..." She whispered, her voice cracking with sudden dread. "What did you do? Tell me the truth right now. What did you just do?!"

"Nothing!" I yelled, trying to pull my hand away. "Let go of me!"

"Do not lie to me!" Mother barked, her grip tightening until it hurt. "I saw the way you left the hospital! I saw the pure hatred in your eyes! What did you do, Brielle?!"

The pressure, the fear, and the rage inside me finally snapped like a tight rubber band.

"I tried to kill her!" I screamed straight into my mother’s face, my voice echoing wildly across the hallway. "I tried to run Rowena over with a car! I tried to smash her body into the pavement so she could never look down on me again!"

My mother gasped in pure horror. She stumbled backward, dropping her teacup onto the floor. The cup shattered into pieces, hot tea splashing all over her expensive slippers. She covered her mouth with both hands, staring at me as if I were a terrifying monster.

"Are you insane?!" She shrieked, her voice high and full of panic. "Have you completely lost your mind?! Trying to murder the Marchioness?! If Alaric finds out about this, he will kill you! He will destroy our entire family line!"

"I don’t care!" I screamed back, tears of pure rage spilling down my cheeks. "I don’t care about Alaric’s anger, and I don’t care about our family line! She took everything from me! She took my pride, and she took Alaric!"

"You need help, Brielle," my mother wept, shaking her head as she took a step toward me. "We need to go talk to your father right now. We need to hide you—"

"Get out of my face!" I barked, turning around and sprinting up the staircase.

I slammed my bedroom door shut and locked it from the inside. A second later, mother began pounding her fists frantically against the wood.

"Brielle! Open this door right now!" She yelled. "Open this door!"

"Get away from my room!" I screamed at the door. When she didn’t stop knocking, I ripped the door open, grabbed her by her shoulders, and shoved her backward with all my strength.

She stumbled onto the carpet with a gasp. Before she could recover, I slammed the door shut again, locked it, and pushed a heavy chair under the handle.

I leaned back against the wall, chest heaving as I stared at my reflection in the mirror across the room.

My hair was a total mess, my eyes were wild, and my clothes were ruined with sweat. I looked like a loser, I looked like a broken, defeated woman who had lost everything to a common girl.

No, I refused to let it end like this. I just couldn’t give up so easily.

I was Brielle Logan, born to be queen. My ultimate goal had always been to become the Luna Queen of the Ebonmoon Pack, and I was not going to let Rowena take that crown away from me.

I was going to get back together with Alaric by any means necessary, even if I had to use every single dirty trick in the book.

I walked over to my closet, pulled out a small travel bag, and packed a single nightgown and a pair of heels. Then, I opened my secret safe, pulled out the keys to a second car, and climbed out through the window of my balcony.

Twenty minutes later, I was driving down the highway in a white convertible, leaving the city limits behind.

I drove straight to the Pine Crest Private Resort. It was an expensive retreat hidden high up in downtown, It was the exact same luxury resort where Alaric and I used to go together years ago back when we were still close, back before Rowena ever stepped foot into our lives.

I pulled up to the front lobby, handed my keys to the valet, and checked into the most expensive private cabin on the lake.

Once I was inside the cabin, I set my bag on the bed and poured myself a glass of wine. I took a sip, letting the sweet alcohol calm my nerves.

My plan was simple, I was going to play the broken, tragic victim. I was going to make Alaric feel guilty for how he had treated me at the hospital today, and draw him straight into my trap.

My fingers trembled slightly as I pulled my phone out of my pocket. I selected Alaric’s private number, hit the dial button, and brought the phone up to my ear.

My heart stopped beating for a second as the line began to ring.

And he answered on the third ring.

"Alaric?" I spoke into the receiver, letting my voice sound small fragile, and completely broken.
