Elder Sage Dwight had lived a long time. He had a lifetime's experience of crafting products, and his mastery over his body was unparalleled. Yet, for the first time in centuries. He found himself in a truly novel state, tapping into a power that he wasn't accustomed to tapping into.
Words could not describe the sensation of tapping into the information dimension. It was like tapping into the source code of reality itself, being able to tinker with the metadata of the universe. He could feel his consciousness spreading across the information of the world around him on a different layer of reality from that of the material world.
He wasn't certain about how to apply his Creationverse. He wasn't even sure advice from the exalted Emperor of Water would help. While the man was clearly powerful and had greater mastery over his power than the dwarf, their power was very different.
'Let me try to use it to bring about greater harmony over my products,' was his first thought. 'And, let me try to engage in more information engineering.'
Those were two reasonable places to start. He immediately began a project of creating a sword. His mind surged with thought as he rapidly designed a fine, but relatively basic blade with no technological components. Dwarven brains had much smaller neurons than the other races, allowing them to fit more neurons in their brain, leading to a fundamentally more extensive neurocognitive ability.
Dwight could easily design a sword in his mind. He quickly created a detailed diagram in his mind in a matter of milliseconds, before moving to the crafting phase of it. The quantum fabricator activated as the dwarf operated the countless quantum-gravitational tweezers, using it to sculpt the sword at the quantum level.
Then he applied his Creationverse to the product, increasing the Harmony within the blade as he crafted it.
VMMM…
The sword began vibrating, producing sound from heat just as the world around them had when the dwarf tried applying his Creationverse to the world around them. Heat was fundamentally disharmonious. It was a bunch of atoms and molecules vibrating discordantly. When forced into a state of harmony, the heat rapidly converted into a sound.
"Yes, this…!" the dwarf remarked with amazement. "This is the highest state of harmony that I have chased after for years!"
The dwarf entered an almost feverish state of euphoria, using his Martialverse to improve the harmony within the sword even as he crafted. He had already achieved near perfect quantum harmony in the past.
But now, he went a whole new level beyond.
He achieved informational harmony, a harmony that existed at the metaphysical level. It was a level of harmony that the dwarf hadn't even be able to comprehend before his breakthrough to the Transcendent Realm, but now it was a state of harmony that he could reach.
His mind moved faster as both his brain and his nervous system entered a profound state of harmony, astronomically improving the speed at which he worked. A fabrication process that might have taken an hour before now only took seconds.
Within seconds, the blade was ready.
It was a simple, plain double-handed double-edged greatsword with a blade made from invintium. There were no fancy adornments or technologies employed in the blade, and its design was as simple as it got.
And yet, it was the most divine product that the dwarf had ever created.
VMMM
The sword sang. Even as it levitated midair within the fabrication chamber, it continued humming freely in a manner that defied even the dwarf's understanding of the laws of physics.
Heat turned into sound, which spread across the air.
But not random sound.
Not noise.
But rather, a particular kind of sound.
It was a sound that spread with intention.
A sound that carried a message.
One that the two Transcendents were able to decipher thanks to their insights into the information dimension.
"I am alive."
Elder Sage Dwight's eyes widened with shock. "…What?"
"I am alive."
"I am alive."
"I am alive."
"I am alive."
"I am alive."
Neither its voice nor its words were human. Its words were distinct hums of invintium; its voice was the resonant frequency of invintium and the critical frequency of the blade as a whole. It had its own voice. Its own identity. Its own life.
"…Alive?" Elder Sage Dwight asked with bewilderment. "This creation of mine… is alive?"
Among dwarves, there was a mythology about artifacts that came to life because of the soul that dwarves imparted to them. According to ancient wisdom, when a dwarf dedicated their heart to a sword, they could impart life to it, creating a sword that was unparalleled.
Many dwarves regarded it as superstition, but Dwight was from the generation that knew it to be true in their hearts.
And now, he had created an artifact that came to life.
"I am impressed."
The voice of the Emperor of Water was filled with admiration. "You created consciousness through harmony."
The elder sage remembered what the Emperor of Water had shared with them about consciousness. About how it was integrated information. It was a theory that the Psyker had come up with, and one that the Emperor had confirmed with the Corporeal Realm.
"I suppose the highest form of harmony is integration," he remarked with interest. "Your Creationverse allowed you to create consciousness through your pursuit of harmony. Truly unbelievable."
"…A living sword," Dwight murmured. "Perhaps this is the new frontier of craftsmanship that I must explore."
"It doesn't seem particularly intelligent or sophisticated," the Emperor remarked with a curious tone, peeking into the fabrication chamber. "Declarations of its life are all it seems to be capable of, at the moment."
He gestured to the blade. "May I?"
"Of course," Dwight nodded, extracting the blade from the chamber and giving it to the Emperor. "Curiosities such as its conscious nature aside, I'm more interested in the technical aspects of the blade."
Rui grabbed the sword by its hilt with both his hands with a curious expression. He didn't have any experience with the sword, but even he could tell that he was holding an extraordinary product.
WHOOSH
He swung it straight down with the speed and strength of a normal human being, not expecting anything particularly flashy to occur.
Instead, it caused nuclear fission.
