The Max Level Hero Has Returned!

While Davey worked to dispel the sorcery, Perserque kept intercepting what was falling from the sky.

While it'd be possible to intercept just small meteors, she couldn't stop the bigger ones or prevent the very fabric of the sky from being twisted during their descent.

Crack!!

“Uooohhh!!!”

The giant knew all too well that if even a single part of the disaster made it through, it would mean the end. Even as the veins in its forearms nearly burst, it continued hurling boulders into the sky.

“I need do something...” Watching it struggle, Kouna tried to draw on her power. She focused with all her might, determined to help, but intense pain and dizziness immediately washed over her instead. “Ugh!”

“Kouna!”

When she staggered and looked on the verge of collapsing, Perserque hurriedly caught her, her face filled with alarm. “Seriously... You're dead set on dying, aren't you?! You need to pull back right now before you no longer even have the strength to survive!”

All it would take was a glance for anyone to tell her condition was bad, going on worse.

“No. I can't! I have to be useful... I have to help...”

Perserque began to get angry at her stubbornness. “You were already useful earlier, so now is your time to fall back! You can make a move again eventually, but only once you've recovered your strength. Don't you know trying to squeeze out power right now could kill you?! It gives symptoms similar to mana exhaustion!”

Kouna couldn't argue with that. The truth was, she had used pretty much of all her power, making her anything but useful.

“I'm... sorry,” she muttered sadly.

“It's fine, just step back and let us handle this. I'll protect you while you get yourself together.”

Taking a quick breath, Perserque raised Transcendence's Demise high once more, an enormous amount of power then swirling around her like a vortex.

Spears of crimson lightning formed one after another before launching upward like a barrage of missiles. The crimson lightning spears shattered the falling meteors and forcibly tore apart the strange sorcery that had spread across the sky. By that time, it had begun to encroach on the very fabric of space.

The giant still struggled to the side.

“Guooohhh!”

“Hurts! Hurts!”

The sorcery had made the dimensional firmament extremely unstable.

A thought suddenly crossed Kouna’s mind.

‘What kind of sorcery is this, if it can cause such an insane phenomenon? It’s even more ridiculous that nobody can even locate the caster!’

She felt like the whole disaster had been triggered simply by forcibly shaking the foundations of an already unstable world.

She mumbled to herself, “The universe... They called it a dimensional wall, didn't they?”

It was a colossal wall that no living being could cross unless by extraordinary means. In other words, the dimensional barrier protecting the things scattered in the dimensional rift was breaking.

“Gotta... do something.” Just as she clenched her fist and muttered, her eyes widened, and she turned her head toward something. “It's calling... I can feel something reaching out to me!”

Something had entered her senses and was calling out to her.

Kouna struggled to her feet and headed toward the source of that bizarre feeling.

If she couldn't use her power for the time being, she had to find another way to help instead.

It wasn't a voice that she felt. Nonetheless, Kouna instinctively headed toward whatever was urgently asking for her help.

Even though the region had been a place crawling with reptiles when she saw it last, it had become eerily quiet with the world on the brink of being utterly torn apart.

“It’s this way...”

Bouncing lightly and moving quickly toward the source, she soon saw a massive waterfall. She had reached a lake with nothing else visible except for the fiercely pouring cascade. Still, she instinctively knew that something near the waterfall was desperately calling for her.

Splash.

She took a short breath, activated the power of Haitai, and stepped onto the water. Then, she slowly walked forward.

ROOOAR!!!

The closer she got to the fierce sound of the waterfall, the stronger the feeling calling to her became.

Boom. Boom!!!

As she felt the tremors caused by the small meteorites that Perserque and the giant had failed to stop in the distance, the realization quickly hit her that she couldn’t stay there wasting time on a wild goose chase forever. She needed to hurry and help them out.

Despite such thoughts, she continued to step forward.

“There it is.”

What appeared in her sight was a natural cave, filled with what looked like pale fireflies. It was a natural cave with a subtle quality that instinctively made her hesitate, but she slowly walked in.

Surprise then abruptly showed on her face.

“Oh my goodness...”

The interior of the cave was a beautiful space filled with green firefly-like lights.

Of course, that was just how it looked at first impression. Upon closer inspection, the slippery moss and the murky inner space felt a bit repulsive.

However, she kept going inside regardless.

“It's you... You called me here...”

There was a massive flower in front of her. More accurately, what had called her was the brightly glowing, pure white orb resting on the flower’s enormous petals.

She slowly reached out a hand toward the orb, which shone like a lamp illuminating the dark cave.

She didn't know why she acted the way she did, she just reached out blankly without a second thought. When her pale hand touched the orb, a fragment of a scene rushed into her mind.

“Uuuh. Ugh!”

Startled, she stumbled and collapsed. Not to be outdone, what followed left her even more surprised.

“Grrr. Hurts!”

The giant had collapsed from complete exhaustion, and Perserque was casting magic while struggling to catch her breath. Both of them looked to be in a terrible state.

Unfortunately for them, Davey still needed more time to dispel the sorcery.

It was bearable at first, yet as time passed, the rift grew even larger. Perserque eventually came to the painful realization that her strength alone wouldn’t be enough to stop the dimension’s apocalypse.

Even though she possessed immense power and had attained demigod strength through metamorphosis, the tide she was trying to hold back was simply too vast.

She could clearly feel a growing exhaustion down to her bones. To make matters worse, that wasn't the only problem she was facing.

“Damn it!”

Coming through the twisted rifts in the firmament, rays of intense heat many times more powerful than direct sunlight poured down, scorching the earth. It created a phenomenon that looked like strong sunlight pouring down through holes in the atmosphere.

The problem was that the ray packing unbelievable heat was burning the forest and heading straight for where Davey was doing his analysis. Though that little bit of heat wouldn't hurt him, it had a high chance of messing up his concentration.

Determined to stop it, Perserque quickly propelled herself off a tree trunk and violently swung her staff to cast protection magic.

Thud!!!

A massive barrage of energy clashed with the barrier she hastily cast.

It wasn't just sunlight. Some power beyond her understanding had begun to ceaselessly erode her mana as well.

“Ugh.” Stumbling and collapsing, she slowly reached up and forcibly withstood the immense natural disaster. She lamented, “Why did it have to come all the way over here...”

Why it had chosen to stop right where Davey was instead of continuing on its own original path was a mystery to her.

The area around them had already been turned into an inferno at the beginning of the barrage. She couldn't even begin to guess how much longer she could endure such an assault without faltering.

At the rate things were going, it was only a matter of time before the entire dimension was brutally engulfed in flames.

With all her focus dedicated to protecting Davey, she couldn't manage any further defensive measures with her remaining pool of mana.

Crack! Crack!!

However, the figurative powder keg, its fuse already lit, continued accelerating the imminent apocalypse regardless. The slowly tearing sky created the illusion of a massive protective shield shattering, starting from the center.

Then, a giant hole began to be pierced through the sky.

“Oh my gosh...” She knew what that heralded. Too overwhelmed to bother worrying about innuendos, she instinctively shouted, “That's just too big! There's no way I can handle that!”

She watched as a meteor of an unimaginable size—enough to make all the previous ones seem like child's play—began to make its way down from the torn rift. She had very little confidence that they could stop such a disaster without sustaining any damage themselves, let alone without any harm coming to the surrounding environment.

While it might be possible to endure it forcefully and protect themselves, if that was the choice they made, the dimension would be done for.

Perserque desperately racked her brain for a solution. Alas, no matter how hard she tried, no viable plan came to mind.

She gave a sigh, finally admitting, “No choice, we’ll have to give up on this dimension.”

Just then, a sky-blue ripple shot out from the distance like a missile before rapidly expanding its influence in every direction.

“Is that Kouna? But she shouldn't have enough energy left to even stand right now, let alone use her ability.”

‘Wait... Come to think of it, where did she go?’

Her startled eyes opened wide. “Good lord! The rift... it's reverting!”

She stared at the colossal meteor, or rather, something far larger than any meteor should have been. It was sure to be a catastrophe on the scale of two planets colliding together. It couldn't be stopped.

Yet, if they could stop the underlying phenomenon and cosmic forces driving the celestial bodies to collide, there would no longer be any problem.

The scale of the situation was simply too great for Perserque to suppress. However, Kouna and her power were different. Regardless of whether it was strong or weak, what she could utilize was an entirely new kind of power.

Footsteps came from afar. The sky-blue aura spread across the firmament and the ground, restoring everything to its original state.

She seemed to have successfully deployed the one perfect countermeasure to the disaster!
