"Master!"
Zhou Yu didn’t even bother to stand, scrambling on his hands and knees to Chen Tieshan’s side. His face was a mask of terror as he stammered, "Master, save me! This man is insane!"
Chen Tieshan’s face was blank, noncommittal.
Lu Bai merely gave Zhou Yu a cold glance before ignoring him, instead walking toward Lu Ziyuan’s family on the other side.
"Lu... Lu Bai, good nephew, we’re family. Let’s talk this through."
Lu Ziyuan forced himself to appear calm, but his voice carried a distinct tremble.
Lu Yao quickly tried to explain as well, "Ah Bai, Second Uncle and Ah Yun’s deaths had nothing to do with us."
"Then why don’t you tell me, where did you get that Protective Talisman?"
Lu Bai’s tone was flat. He reached Lu Ziyuan’s family of three and sat down imposingly on a stool.
The Cyan Cloud Sword lay across his lap, its blade still dripping with blood—a gruesome sight.
"I..."
Lu Yao instinctively glanced toward Zhou Yu.
Zhou Yu noticed. His face hardened, and he shot a vicious glare back at her.
Lu Yao quickly averted her gaze and lowered her head. "I don’t know."
The woman of the Li Family mustered her courage, pointing at Lu Bai while bluffing, "Lu Bai, you’ve brought on a great disaster! You’ve killed people today. When the Government Office comes knocking tomorrow, we’ll see how you explain yourself!"
"With Hall Master Chen here, are you really going to kill everyone in this room?"
As she spoke, she glanced at Chen Tieshan, clearly trying to drag him into the situation.
Lu Bai smiled.
He raised his sword and struck!
"SQUELCH!"
The blade slashed down diagonally, cleaving her face and chest nearly in two.
Blood sprayed!
The woman of the Li Family was sent flying by the blow, dead before she could even make a sound.
"AHH!"
The father and daughter, Lu Ziyuan and Lu Yao, screamed, scared out of their wits.
The two scrambled to get away, but they stumbled and fell off their stools, landing with a splash in a pool of blood, trembling uncontrollably.
Even Chen Xiaofeng’s palms were sweating as he watched, his hand subconsciously tightening on his sword.
He had studied the Martial Dao at Bluestone Academy, but his experience was limited to sparring with fellow students. He had never witnessed such a bloody scene.
If his father hadn’t been by his side, he probably would have turned and fled.
The sight of Lu Bai sent a chill down his spine. ’I’m terrified he’ll snap and decide to kill us all to silence us.’
"I gave you a chance, but it was useless."
Lu Bai sighed.
"I’ll talk! I’ll talk!"
Lu Ziyuan’s teeth chattered. His Heart and Spirit shattered, and he could no longer hold out. "The Zhou Family did it all! Madam Zhou gave Ah Yao that Protective Talisman! It had nothing to do with us!"
"You’re full of shit!"
Zhou Yu panicked and shouted, "Lu Ziyuan, you were the ones who coveted Lu Ziheng’s property and did something so depraved! What does this have to do with my Zhou Family!"
"I’m a respectable man who doesn’t even know Martial Arts. How would I know anything about some ancient Evil Technique?"
Lu Ziyuan frantically explained to Lu Bai, "It was Zhou Yu who came to us a while ago, saying he had a way to help us seize my second brother’s assets. I had no idea what method the Zhou Family would use."
Lu Bai said nothing, merely watching them tear into each other.
The calmer Lu Bai appeared, the more panicked Lu Ziyuan became.
This boy had just killed without a second word, erupting in sudden violence.
’Who knows when he might strike again?’
Lu Ziyuan pleaded desperately, "Nephew Lu Bai, you... you have to believe me. I’m your first uncle. We share blood ties. I wouldn’t lie to you about something like this."
"Blood ties?"
Lu Bai chuckled. "You clearly knew what was happening, yet you just stood by and watched your own brother and nephews—your supposed blood ties—die one by one without a word of warning. Before Father’s first seven days of mourning were even over, you were already rushing here to snatch the pharmacies."
"I don’t want them! I don’t want the four pharmacies anymore!"
Lu Ziyuan shook his head frantically, grabbing the contract from the table and tearing it to shreds. "The four pharmacies are all yours! If I ever have another ulterior motive, may I be struck by heavenly lightning!"
"I don’t trust in heavenly lightning."
Lu Bai said coolly, "I only trust the sword in my hand."
"Lu Bai, Lu Bai, your uncle is begging you! For the sake of our kinship, spare my life!"
Lu Ziyuan shuffled forward a few steps on his knees, kowtowing repeatedly before Lu Bai with a series of THUDS. "I can be a witness!" he pleaded. "When this goes to the Government Office, I’ll help you testify against the Zhou Family..."
Seeing this, even Chen Xiaofeng felt a pang of pity.
"I can spare your life."
Lu Bai spoke faintly.
"Ah, thank you, nephew! Thank you, nephew!"
Hearing Lu Bai relent, Lu Ziyuan was overjoyed, hastily stammering his thanks.
But Lu Bai’s tone shifted. "However, you’ll have to ask my dad and older brother to their faces if they agree."
"Huh?"
Lu Ziyuan was stunned. He didn’t understand for a moment. "They... aren’t they dead? How am I supposed to ask them to their faces?"
"That’s easy."
Lu Bai grabbed Lu Ziyuan by the hair, yanked him forward, and thrust the Cyan Cloud Sword.
"SQUELCH!"
The longsword pierced through his chest, emerging from his back!
"You..."
Lu Ziyuan’s eyes flew open. He tried to say something, but blood just poured from his mouth.
Lu Bai said, "I’ll send you on your way. You can go ask them down below."
Hearing this, Lu Ziyuan’s head lolled to the side. His last breath caught in his throat, and he died on the spot.
Witnessing this, even the corners of Chen Tieshan’s eyes twitched uncontrollably.
Ruthless!
Far too ruthless!
Although Lu Ziyuan and his family deserved to die, Lu Bai was so young, yet his methods were so vicious and utterly devoid of mercy. It sent a chill through his own heart.
He had roamed the Jianghu, had blood on his hands, and had seen all sorts of people from every walk of life, countless different Jianghu Travelers.
But he had never seen a young man so decisive in killing, yet able to remain so composed.
Compared to Lu Bai, his own two children seemed like pure, untainted white lotuses who had never seen the world.
Lu Bai stood, kicked Lu Ziyuan’s corpse aside, and pulled out the Cyan Cloud Sword in one smooth motion. His gaze swept over to Lu Yao.
Lu Yao was already pale with fright, her face streaked with tears as she trembled from head to toe.
"Ah... Ah Bai, I was wrong."
Lu Yao wept beautifully, like a pear blossom in the rain. "Do you remember? Your older cousin always used to play with you when we were little. For old time’s sake, please give me a chance."
"Did you ever give me a chance?"
Lu Bai’s voice was ice, devoid of any emotion.
’In a way, the original Lu Bai is already dead. The Lu Family line truly has been extinguished, its members dead and gone.’
"PUFF!"
Lu Bai swung his sword, drawing a light line across Lu Yao’s throat.
Lu Yao’s cries stopped abruptly. Her expression froze.
Gradually.
A thin red line appeared on her fair neck.
With a thud, Lu Yao fell backward, her breath gone from her body.
The Memorial Hall fell silent once more.
Chen Tieshan and Chen Xiaofeng were speechless.
Hiding at Chen Tieshan’s feet, Zhou Yu’s legs trembled violently, a large wet patch spreading across his trousers.
In the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, five more lives had been claimed in this Memorial Hall!
Lu Bai walked to the memorial tablets of Lu Ziheng and Lu Yun. He placed the blood-soaked Cyan Cloud Sword before them and lit three sticks of incense.
Seeing this, a realization dawned on Chen Tieshan.
’The boy did this today, in this Memorial Hall, before the memorial tablets of Lu Ziheng and Lu Yun. He used Lu Yun’s own sword to execute Lu Ziyuan’s family of three, all to give an accounting to his wrongfully murdered father and brother.’
What a Lu Bai!
Tonight, he had offered the lives of Lu Ziyuan’s family as a blood sacrifice to his own kin!
