The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Chapter 340 - 165: The Truth (3)

During this time, he overheard a few soldiers chatting.

"Ah, I really miss those two pretty girls who came through last month. They were gorgeous..."

"The two from the Florist Family?"

"Yeah."

"They were definitely gorgeous. Looked like twins, too."

"Sigh... I kind of regret not asking for their contact info..."

"Give me a break. A guy like you, with two eyes and one nose... you should take a look in the mirror. You think they’d be interested in you?"

"?"

"What the hell are you talking about? Doesn’t everyone have two eyes and one nose? Or do you think people have one eye and two noses?"

"No, no, no, I mean you’re completely unremarkable."

"You know what? It’s not so bad to be ugly. What’s terrible is being completely unremarkable. They’ve probably forgotten you already."

Pulente’s ears twitched. He walked over and asked, "What twins?"

The soldiers immediately gave him a strange look.

’This old man... at his age, he’s still thinking about the twins?’

Before they could answer, the person who had led Pulente over to handle the paperwork shouted, "Mr. Pulente, it’s time to go."

"Alright." Pulente had no choice but to drop it.

The word "twins" made him think of the two young girls following Sean the night before.

The soldiers said they were from the Florist Family, but the Florist Family had been wiped out. If it was really them, they should be Sean’s mortal enemies, absolutely irreconcilable. How could they possibly address him as "Master"?

’Could it be that Sean saw how beautiful they were, had some wicked ideas, and deliberately took the sisters in as his maids?’

Recalling how a certain "great man" had once forcibly violated the First Saintess, Pulente’s heart sank.

’It all fit... Everything fit together!’

That Carl Black was a man consumed by lust, hiding behind a veneer of elegance. It was just like Sean’s hypocrisy the previous night—he seemed courteous and polite, yet every word was a veiled threat. The more Pulente thought about it, the more horrified he became. Sean was almost certainly the reborn Carl Black himself. To think he’d had a run-in with Carl Black last night and actually survived...

It was a good thing he was quick-witted and pragmatic enough to feign cooperation. Otherwise, he didn’t dare imagine how he would have died.

And after the horror, a powerful wave of anger surged through Pulente.

Hundreds of years ago, Carl Black had taken the First Saintess for himself. Now, centuries later, he was doing the same to the twin sisters of the Florist Family...

That bastard would never change!

Don’t be fooled by how obedient the sisters were to Sean last night, calling him "Master" over and over, seeming so docile. In reality, who knew what kind of Enchanting Spell he had used on them in private?

And that wasn’t a metaphor.

If Sean really was Carl Black, he would have countless ways to turn the unwilling into his servants. Pulente himself knew of several methods, such as the Puppet Curse, the Black Hill Curse, the Eternal Love Spell, as well as commands like "Kneel Quickly" and "Quickly Tie Up Your Hair." Many forms of Mind Magic could accomplish this.

"Sean, you deserve to die!"

Pulente was furious.

He truly pitied the Eleanor Sisters for their fate.

Death before dishonor. Not only had Sean killed their entire family, but now he was forcing them to serve him as maids...

This was going too far!

He had to report this to his superiors, exactly as it happened. He would request a true expert to capture Sean and drag him back, lest he harm anyone else!

And so, after a bit of a journey, Pulente finally returned to the New World, seething with rage.

The Eleanor Sisters had also stayed here before they went to the Farm World.

The person who received Pulente was the same one who had received the Eleanor Sisters.

Inside the military camp.

Seeing Pulente’s furious expression, the old crone lifted her face from beneath her hood and asked nonchalantly, "What’s got you so worked up?"

"Were you dishonored?"

Pulente didn’t answer, only saying respectfully but urgently, "Miss Lilith, I have urgent business. I must see Her Highness the Saintess."

For his direct superior was none other than Saintess Diana.

The old crone continued stirring her cauldron. "If it’s not too urgent, you can tell me first."

She would be the one to judge if the matter was important enough to warrant the personal attention of Her Highness the Saintess.

Pulente said bluntly, "This concerns Carl Black."

The old crone: "?"

Her stirring hand paused. "Are you serious?"

Pulente gestured in frustration. "You’ve known me for years. Would I joke about something like this?"

"Fine. I’ll trust you this time."

The old crone stood up. She brought her hands together, forming a triangle with her ancient index fingers and thumbs.

A pitch-black point of light condensed within the triangle.

The old crone pulled her hands apart, and the black point violently expanded, tearing through space itself to open a black hole-like Teleportation Gate inside the small tent.

"Go on."

The old crone added, "Don’t forget your etiquette."

Pulente had been in the Farm World for too long. She vaguely remembered that the last time they’d met, the man didn’t have white hair.

She felt it necessary to remind Pulente not to bring his status as Governor back to this world. Before Her Highness the Saintess, he was still just the little boy she had saved all those years ago.

"Rest assured, Miss Lilith. I remember."

"I’ll be going, then?"

"Mm."

Pulente stepped into the Teleportation Gate.

The next second, he appeared outside Elderidge City.

He still had to walk into the city, but at least he’d been spared the long, bumpy carriage ride from Pilgrimage City.

With the help of the former head maid of Hesinra Palace, Pulente had saved a great deal of time.

After entering the city, he rushed to Hesinra Palace and announced himself to the Divine Servant at the gate.

"Pulente of the Watchtower Family requests an audience with His Holiness the Pope."
