The Nameless Extra: I Proofread This World

Chapter 298: Activate Assimilation [GT Bonus]

[Ruvian’s POV]

[Alert: As your bounty has reached 3,000 points, all squads and individuals within your vicinity will now be revealed on the map.]

The notification appeared on his bracelet, but Ruvian dismissed it immediately.

[Now that I think upon it... was there any necessary for me to shape the chair? You looked rather absurd, child.] Morvayne asked.

Ruvian smiled as he rose to his feet. The chair Morvayne had shaped from mana immediately dissolved and vanished.

’Of course it was necessary. I couldn’t just stand there waiting for them. Look at them. They took nearly an hour before finally showing themselves.’

Morvayne frowned slightly within his soul.

She knew he was merely rationalizing his decision. In truth, he simply wanted to appear calm, collected, and unfazed before his enemies despite being outnumbered.

Summoning [The Endseeker], Ruvian’s expression turned solemn as his figure began radiating an oppressive aura of coldness and dread.

’Anyway, Morvayne... is she here now?’

Morvayne immediately expanded her perception throughout the entire area, allowing her senses to stretch far beyond even the skies above.

Then, an immensely powerful mana presence entered her perception. It was heavily concealed beneath layers of deception, meticulously crafted to mislead anyone nearby and obscure its existence.

But it was there.

Nothing could escape Morvayne’s all-encompassing perception.

[Yeah. She’s here now... wait, there is another one?]

Ruvian smiled insidiously.

"Another one? Ah, Calyra... if it’s her, don’t worry about it. She only came because she was concerned. Anyway... let’s begin."

[Griffer’s POV]

’That guy... is he insane?’

Griffer was... appalled.

Why would he squander all those points adding an even greater bounty to his own head when everyone gathered here was already hunting him?

Was it merely to prove a point — that he refused to be branded as someone else’s prey?

Seriously?

"What a pointless waste of points..."

He scoffed as he spat onto the ground.

Just as Griffer was about to move closer, Natalia, his squad leader, abruptly stopped him.

Griffer turned his head toward her, visibly irritated and about to demand an explanation, but then he saw it...

Natalia’s face had turned deathly pale, her expression darkening with unease.

"Wait, everyone... I don’t think we should participate just yet..."

Griffer was taken aback upon hearing that.

"Huh? The hell? What do you mean by that?"

Natalia was still staring intently at the lone man standing atop the cliff. Then, after a brief hesitation, she finally spoke.

"Did none of you realize how many points he just added to his bounty?"

Slowly, one of her squad members began recounting the numbers as he, too, finally understood what Natalia was trying to imply.

"It was 2,000 points after Ardyn placed the bounty. Then, it rose to 5,000 points... after he added more to it himself..." he stuttered.

Only then did Griffer finally grasp the significance behind it.

It was a total of 3,000 points.

That was an enormous number of points.

"Yes, 3,000 points. Remember last night’s squad rankings? Even the tenth-ranked squad, Squad 80, only had 4,960 points." Natalia paused. "Which means this guy had accumulated perhaps more than 3,000 points entirely by himself."

She paused again, reluctant to arrive at such a conclusion, yet it felt increasingly inevitable.

"The late-night ambushes and the elimination of three squads... I have a dreadful premonition that he was responsible for all of it. That would explain why he was so confident about confronting us here, and how he possessed that many points in the first place." (+1,000PP)

Hearing her reasoning, Griffer couldn’t help but feel a chill crawl down his spine.

’How the hell did Ruvian eliminate three entire squads at night? No, wait... if it was true, then how did he even move through the unnatural darkness of this island?’

His grip on his spear loosened slightly before he tightened it once more. Grinding his teeth, he reluctantly spoke.

"Yeah... let’s observe him first."

Rather than yielding to his reckless impulses, Griffer decided to set his pride aside for the moment. He, too, genuinely wanted to see whether his rival had already grown strong enough to reach such a level.

Soon, Ruvian calmly strode closer toward them before summoning a dark blade from his dimensional storage, its surface blacker than the night itself.

"Well then, now that I’m no one’s prey, how should we settle this? Ah, you know what? Whatever... you don’t have to fight among yourselves over who gets to face me. Any one of you, or even all of you... it makes no difference."

Ruvian raised his left hand and beckoned them all forward.

"Come..."

For a brief moment, no one moved.

The air atop the cliff grew unnaturally still. Only the cold wind continued to sweep through the area, tugging at their uniforms.

Then, the scholars’ expressions began to change.

All of them, except Natalia’s squad, stared at Ruvian with visible indignation. His brazen declaration had not merely challenged them.

It had belittled every single person gathered there.

They all clenched their weapons tighter, exchanged furious glances before their faces twisting with outrage as if they had just suffered an unforgivable insult.

The sheer arrogance of his was intolerable.

However, no one appeared more incensed than Ardyn.

His expression darkened as his fingers tightened around the hilt of his huge broadsword. The veins along the back of his hand slowly bulged beneath his skin.

"You truly are an insufferable bastard, Ruvian Castelor."

Ardyn’s voice broke through the silence. He slowly stepped forward, his gaze fixed upon Ruvian with naked hostility.

Ruvian gave him a simple response.

"Oh, can’t believe you still have that huge toy as your weapon. I thought you would have thrown it away after you lost to me while I was just using a wand." he sighed, then smiled. "Truly, I wish I can pity you."

That reply only caused Ardyn’s anger to burn hotter.

"Hey, donyou think this is a game? You are standing before twenty scholars, most of whom outrank you in both class and ability."

Ardyn raised his weapon and pointed it directly toward him. "Yet you still dare to look down upon us as though we are the ones trapped here?"

Several scholars beside him began circulating their mana.

The atmosphere trembled. Different elemental energies gradually emerged opposite him and the cliffside.

Ardyn’s lips curled into a cold smile.

"Fine."

His mana erupted around him.

"If you are so desperate to prove that you are no one’s prey... then let us see how long that arrogance survives."

Ruvian’s smile widened.

"ELIMINATE HIM!" Ardyn shouted.

The ground exploded beneath their feet.

Twenty scholars surged forward simultaneously, their weapons drawn and spells already blazing within their hands.

And standing alone before the approaching onslaught, Ruvian did not bother to move a single step.

He simply smiled and said:
