Bradley

The black SUV crunched over the gravel as Bradley pulled up in front of the main house. A crowd had gathered on the lawn, a sea of familiar faces eager to welcome their Alpha home. Sam had already sent a brief update, so they knew the visits had been successful and that alliances had been forged. Sam stepped out first and, after a quick, assessing glance around, opened Bradley’s door.

A whirlwind of small bodies and happy shrieks immediately surrounded him as a group of pups rushed forward, all thrilled to see him return. Bradley laughed, a genuine, deep sound that came from his chest, and bent to scoop two of them up, one in each arm. The weight of them, warm and wriggling, grounded him in a way nothing else could.

"Alpha Bradley! You’re back!" a little girl with pigtails chirped, her face beaming.

"We missed you so much!" a boy with a gap-toothed grin added, bouncing on his toes.

He listened to them chatter about everything they’d been up to in his absence - pack training sessions, a frog they’d found by the creek, and a game of hide-and-seek that had apparently lasted for hours. He tried to keep up, nodding and making the right sounds, genuinely interested in their innocent excitement. But when one of them mentioned "the pretty Luna," his wolf perked up, his attention sharpening to a fine point. Where is she? Where is our mate? the wolf demanded with an urgency that made Bradley’s chest tighten. He’d sent the dress, made all the arrangements, ensured everything would be perfect for his return. So where was she?

Trishelle

At that moment, I was trying to keep my legs from crumpling right out from under me. I wobbled unsteadily in the one-inch wedges, a type of shoe I hadn’t worn in what felt like a lifetime. The unfamiliar height threw off my balance, making me feel like a newborn foal learning to walk. My stomach rolled with a sickening lurch, and I wished I’d skipped the muffins and bacon at breakfast. It was only a few weeks since I’d last seen Bradley, but it might as well have been years. The separation had felt endless, each day stretching out like an eternity. Nervousness and excitement battled for control inside me, two opposing forces pulling me in different directions, and right now, it seemed like nervousness was the reigning champion.

"Here, Luna, take a bite of this." Tiffany was suddenly at my side, her presence comforting and steady. She held out a small piece of dry toast with an understanding smile. "This will help settle your nerves." She laughed softly, her eyes warm with affection. "I would have offered you something to drink, but," Tiffany discreetly glanced at my middle, "I don’t think the Alpha would appreciate that."

I took a bite and breathed through my nose as Tiffany instructed, focusing on the simple act of inhaling and exhaling. Soon, my stomach settled and the tremor in my legs stopped. The simple remedy worked like magic, calming the storm inside me. I remembered how everyone had been so glad to have a Luna, how they looked to me with hope and respect, and I decided that it was time to step into the role I’d been blessed with. This wasn’t just about me anymore - it was about the pack, about Bradley, about the life growing inside me. Straightening my spine, I lifted my head and squared my shoulders. A small nod to myself in the mirror, a silent affirmation of courage, and I was ready.

Two of the Omegas were waiting to open the massive front doors for me, their expressions encouraging. As I stepped out into the warm evening sun, I squinted for a moment until my eyes adjusted to the golden light. When I looked again, there was the pack surrounding Bradley, a living tapestry of loyalty and love. The wind picked up, blowing my hair across my face in a cascade of dark strands, and I saw Bradley inhale sharply, his entire body going still.

Bradley

Bradley was busy trying to listen to at least eight excited pups talking over each other, his own moody wolf snarling impatiently in his head, while simultaneously scanning the crowd for his mate. Maybe she was toward the back, he thought, his eyes searching the sea of faces. He knew she was still a bit shy and might think she didn’t belong yet, that she shouldn’t be front and center. The thought made his chest ache with a protective tenderness. Didn’t she know that she was the most important person in his life? That his pack members would be proud to have her as their Luna? That she belonged at his side, always?

He put the pups down gently, ruffling their hair with affection, intent on heading toward the back of the group to find her. But then his wolf picked up her scent on the wind - sweet jasmine mixed with something uniquely hers. It hit him like a punch to the gut, sweet and familiar and entirely his.

He spun around, and there she was.

The peach dress gave her skin a healthy, ethereal glow, making her look like she’d stepped out of a dream. The wind pressed the soft fabric against her lower half, showing off the long lines of her legs and the gentle curve of her belly where their pup grew. For a moment, the world went silent. The chatter of the pack faded to nothing, the rustling of leaves stilled, and even his wolf went quiet with reverence. As their eyes met, it was like everything and everyone disappeared, leaving only the two of them in a bubble of their own making.

Bradley made his way up the stone steps, his movements purposeful and predatory, until he stood directly in front of her. How was it that she looked even more beautiful than he remembered? The weeks apart had only sharpened his appreciation for every detail - the curve of her lips, the warmth in her eyes, the way she held herself with a newfound confidence. His wolf was panting in his head, a desperate, needy sound, demanding that they mate, NOW, and for once, Bradley was in total agreement.

He scooped Trishelle up in his arms, one arm behind her back and the other under her knees, cradling her against his chest. He made a beeline for the front door, ignoring the hoots and whistles from the pack members behind him. Their teasing barely registered. His mind and body were focused on one thing, and one thing only - claiming his mate, showing her exactly how much he’d missed her.

I let out a squeak of pure surprise when Bradley turned into full-on caveman mode. The sudden movement left me breathless, my heart hammering against my ribs. No, wait, wasn’t it when they threw women over their shoulders? It didn’t matter what the proper term was, because what I knew for sure was that Bradley had a starved man look in his eyes, and it appeared I was on the menu. Appetizer, main course, and dessert all rolled into one.

He took the grand staircase two at a time, his powerful legs eating up the distance with ease. The world blurred around us as he raced down the hall to his room like the hounds of hell were nipping at his heels. He shouldered his way into the room and kicked the door shut behind him with a solid thud that made me jump. The finality of that sound sent a thrill through me.

Allowing my feet to touch the ground, he just held me for a moment, his arms wrapped around me like I was something precious. He buried his face in the crook of my neck and inhaled my scent deeply, as if trying to memorize it all over again. It calmed and excited him and his wolf at the same time; I could feel the tremor that ran through his body, the barely restrained need thrumming beneath his skin.

Pulling back slightly, he gently cupped my face in his large hands, his thumbs stroking my cheekbones with infinite tenderness. The contrast between his obvious desire and his gentle touch made my heart swell. "Trish, I’ve missed you so much," he said, his voice a low, raw rasp that sent shivers down my spine. "More than I even thought I could. Every day without you felt wrong, incomplete."

I nestled my face into his warm palm as my hand came up to cover his, our fingers intertwining. "Me too," I whispered, my own voice thick with unshed tears that blurred my vision. "I counted the days, Bradley. Every single one."

Bradley swallowed hard, and I could see the war of love and desire raging in his eyes, two powerful forces battling for dominance. "Trish, if you’re not ready, I can wait. We don’t have to do this right now. You don’t have to push yourself." The words seemed to cost him, his jaw clenching with the effort of making the offer.

My response was to rise up on my toes and press my lips to his, pouring all my longing into the kiss. "I’m ready, Bradley," I murmured against his mouth, my breath mingling with his. "It’s okay. I want this. I want you. I’ve wanted you since the moment you left."

Hearing that made Bradley groan, a deep, guttural sound from his chest as his control snapped like a frayed rope. Grabbing my arms, he kissed me like he wanted to brand my lips with his touch, his taste, his very essence. It was hungry, possessive, and a little desperate - a kiss that spoke of weeks of separation and longing. I leaned into him, wrapping my arms tightly around his shoulders, my fingers tangling in the hair at the nape of his neck. The silky strands felt good between my fingers, grounding me in the moment.

Bending his knees, Bradley lifted my legs, wrapping them around his middle. His hands gripped my thighs, holding me secure against him. Making his way to his bed, he kept kissing me, not wanting to stop, not even for a second. It felt like all the air I would ever need came straight from his lips, like he was breathing life into me with every touch.
