The One King

Chapter 09: The Demonic Devouring Sutra

"Hmph. Nothing more than a pathetic spirit, yet you dare look down upon this Great One."

Azrael said those words coldly.

The moment the divine spirit heard him, her eyes turned icy. An immense pressure erupted from her divine soul and surged toward Azrael.

"Foolish mortal! You have angered this goddess."

Then she issued a cold command:

"Kneel!"

Yet Azrael did not move an inch.

Seeing this, the Serpent Goddess attempted to gather the entirety of her divine soul power, intending to suppress Azrael and force him to his knees.

But before she could do so...

BOOM!

An immense spiritual force erupted from Azrael's body.

In the next instant, his terrifying soul power surrounded the divine spirit from every direction, crushing her like a gigantic pair of pincers.

The Serpent Goddess trembled violently.

The moment she sensed the true power of Azrael's soul, her ethereal face turned pale.

"How...?"

Her voice trembled.

"How can a mortal possess a soul this immense...? How?!"

Gaia had been watching the entire exchange from the side.

When she first heard Azrael's unbearably arrogant words, she had been terrified that his provocation would anger the goddess and cause them both to be killed.

But when Azrael released the true power of his soul, she froze in shock.

She realized that Azrael's soul was incomparably greater than the Serpent Goddess's.

Azrael began reciting the Demonic Devouring Technique, created by his second incarnation, Zalzarion.

As he recited the sutra, the energy within the room began to tremble.

A black hole appeared before Azrael's chest.

It resembled a gateway leading into an endless abyss, and an immense suction force erupted from within it, attempting to drag the divine spirit inside.

The moment the Serpent Goddess saw what was happening, her expression changed.

From the instant Azrael began reciting the Demonic Devouring Sutra, she had felt an ominous sensation she had not experienced in countless years.

Then her worst fear became reality.

The black hole fully manifested before Azrael, and a terrifying suction force erupted from it, pulling her ethereal body toward its depths.

Her instincts screamed danger.

She knew instinctively that if she were dragged into that black hole, her soul would be completely torn apart...

And she would die!

She resisted with everything she had.

But the suction force continued growing stronger.

With every passing moment, the black hole became more terrifying.

Her ethereal body was slowly pulled backward.

She fought desperately with every ounce of strength she possessed, but she soon reached the limit of what she could withstand.

Her body began drifting uncontrollably toward the black hole.

Realizing that she could no longer resist, the Serpent Goddess attempted to negotiate with Azrael.

"Human! Stop that black hole, and we can reach an agreement!"

Azrael remained silent.

He acted as though he hadn't heard her at all.

Then he increased the suction force to its absolute limit.

BOOOOM!

The last trace of the goddess's resistance vanished.

Her ethereal body was dragged relentlessly toward the black hole.

The arrogance on her face was replaced by terror.

Then she began pleading.

"My Lord..."

Azrael did not respond.

"My Lord, I'll do anything!"

Her voice trembled with fear.

"I'll become your slave... Just stop this black hole!"

Azrael still did not answer.

The black hole continued pulling her in.

Her spirit was on the verge of being swallowed completely by the darkness.

Then...

A faint voice came from the side.

"My Lord..."

Azrael paused.

Gaia was looking at him.

Then she said hesitantly,

"Could you... not destroy her for now? I want to ask her some questions."

A spark of hope immediately returned to the ethereal goddess's face.

"Yes! Yes! I'll answer anything you want!"

She looked at Azrael desperately.

"Just spare me!"

Azrael gave Gaia a long look.

Then his gaze shifted toward the Serpent Goddess.

He sighed quietly.

"Fine."

The suction force weakened slightly, but it did not disappear.

Azrael then looked at the goddess with a sinister expression.

"But don't even think about escaping."

The goddess froze.

Azrael continued coldly,

"Even if you try to flee, no one will be able to save you from my wrath."

A cold smile appeared on his face.

"And I'll make you experience suffering beyond imagination before I devour you."
